We had a super stay at this wonderful property. It has everything you could ask for in a town centre prime location. All rooms with great en-suite facilities, were were a family of 6 adults and there was plenty of space and privacy. The location is spot on. The home has everything you would want home from home. We were greeted with a beautiful vase of flowers, wine and local delights which were the perfect touch after a long drive from the Midlands.Thank you for making us feel so very welcome.

We picked this property because it was in the centre of Falmouth with everything accessible. Our hosts Kevin and Sophia provided excellent directions and instructions, and the place was in a great condition when we arrived. We were two couples staying in a large house which worked out very well, and the views of the harbour are fantastic. As well as having all the bars and restaurants at your fingertips, you also have the ferry and an extremely useful store (Tesco's) which is just a couple of minutes walk. The whole experience is exactly what a harbour vacation experience should be, I would definitely recommend.

We had 4 night visit with friends over the August Bank Holiday and had lovely stay. The house is clean comfortable and spacious and has all of the facilities you would wish for. The location is perfect for all of the pubs, shops and restaurants that Falmouth has to offer but be aware, if you are a nervous driver then navigating Falmouth's narrow streets may be a little daunting. Kevin and Sophia are excellent and friendly hosts and keep in touch very well leading up to your stay and upon departure. If you want to base yourself around Falmouth's lively quayside then look no further. Highly recommended.

An extraordinary location, on top of a quay overlooking the harbour. So many restaurants, shops, and places to visit just outside the door. Of course there is noise -- you can't get that close to everything without having people around -- but the house is very calm and easy. It was a great place to take a holiday.

What a wonderful holiday home. Comfortable and with views you won’t want to leave. Perfect for 4 friends who want a bedroom and bathroom each. So many restaurants on the doorstep (excellent Thai takeaway almost next door) makes choosing difficult. The kitchen is well kitted out if you want to cook for yourself. Kevin and Sophia’s communications are quick and very welcoming. We would certainly stay again.

A very memorable stay with stunning views from the property & great location, just moments away from shops, pubs & restaurants. Communication with the owners was friendly and efficient, and included an extensive visitors guide prior to our visit. Flowers and a bottle of wine and biscuits were a nice touch on arrival.

Perfect location for young and old… We took my elderly father away for a break and the ground floor ensuite with harbour views was perfect for him. He would get up early and find different coffee shops close to the house to enjoy a peaceful morning. The Chain Locker pub is also very conveniently positioned for my husband and brother and the food there was excellent.
The house was clean and welcoming with beautiful views across the harbour. It was lovely to look out of the widows and watch the tide and the boats. It is perfectly positioned for restaurants, shops, The Maritime Museum, the Castle and an easy base to explore Cornwall. Only an hour from Padstow, Mousehole, St Michael's Mount and a short distance further to Lands End.
The kitchen was well equipped with pots and pans and the lounge is a good size. Communication with Kevin and Sophie has been excellent. I would highly recommend this unique accommodation.

Thank you Kevin and Sophie for the wonderful stay in your lovely Quay side house. The house was very comfortable, welcoming and homely. the location was fantastic being directly on the waterside. It felt very special. The morning view from my bedroom was a joy and the light was so different every day. The kitchen was well equipped and immaculately clean. As with the whole house. And each bedroom has its own ensuite so perfect for couples.
Location was perfect and a stones throw from waterside bars and restaurants, museum, and the shopping area. We will definately consider returning again. Finally I must mention that my daughter left her ruck sack on the Quay when we left to travel home. we didn't realise this until we had arrived home. Kevin acted swiftly to find the bag and posted it back to us super quick. we are very grateful for his prompt action and finding my daughters Uni work and laptop. Thank you again.

This is a lovely house with a good location , lots going on around.
We had an 11 year old , two teenagers , their parents and my husband and I are retired, things for all ages to do, or you can sit and watch out the windows over the bay.
Night time busy but the youngsters loved it.
Lots of eating places or everything in the house so you can cook your own.

Great location, everything on your doorstep.
Beautiful house, equipped with all of your daily needs. Very spacious, view of the sea from every room in the house.
Fantastic communication throughout, and a lovely gesture of a bottle of wine and biscuits on arrival. Would highly recommend.

The most amazing location and the views are beautiful from every room. So nice to be able to walk to all the great restaurants, through the town and to the beaches. We’ve all had a wonderful week and would definitely book again. Great hosts who have gone above and beyond. We ate out or picked up food most days and couldn’t fault any of it. Gorgeous beaches and the ferry port to St Mawe’s is only a short walk away too. Would recommend for a day trip. Perfect family holiday, don’t feel the need to go abroad after being here. Our two young girls loved it as much as our in-laws.

A cute house with loads of charm in an unbelievable location. It's clear Kevin and Sophia care greatly about their home and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our whole family had a great stay, and used their two parking spots located right there out on the quay. You can tell a lot of thought and love went into their house: clever touches like windows that opened both ways allowed you to catch either the land or the sea breeze, as well as fun touches like a porthole covering a cabinet, or an old pull chain toilet added to the charm. It is an easy walk (10 feet?!) to all the cafes and shops in Falmouth, and we all really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Property, needs a refresh in some areas.
We enjoyed our stay in Falmouth and the house was in an ideal location. Lots going on in this location and it can be a bit noisy in the evenings. If you want to be in the middle of town you have to expect some disturbance. The house faces a busy pub. Without wanting to be to picky, the house is in need of a deep clean. The housekeeper needs to up her gain as in certain areas it wasn’t great. We decided not to complain as we are not that type of guest but there is room for big improvement. The owners also need to carry out some basic maintenance as there is a quite a few issues in the house. I am not going to list all of these but the two that concerned us most was that all doors inside the house should be able to be shut closed especially in bathrooms and bedrooms for privacy. Furthermore removing thermostatic valves on radiators so that we were unable to turn them on or up is not great for your cold guests. We did experience cool wet weather in June and it would of been nice to tweak the heating a little as the house being an old building gets cold and we were unable to do so. I will mention that the gas fire in the lounge was wonderful and we used it on two evenings. We did not raise any complaints with the owners or receive any communication from them. A courtesy call or text to ensure we were comfortable would of been appreciated during our stay. With the issues we had we would not choose to stay at this particular property again, which is a great shame as we will be returning to the area in the autumn. I am sure other guests will enjoy this property especially in the warm summer months.

Wonderful property in Falmouth
My family and I stayed at the Old Quay House for a week during a family holiday. It is a wonderful place to stay. The house is very spacious with great views over Falmouth Harbour especially from the large living room. Each bedroom has an ensuite which was a great touch. The location is perfect for exploring this lovely Cornish town within walking distance of all amenities including great restaurants and beaches. The hosts were wonderful with great communication beforehand including personalised directions and check-in information. They also provided a parking permit for our car so we could park next to the property which made exploring further afield so much easier. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. Highly recommended

Will be returning for sure!
We absolutely loved this property! The house is in a fantastic position firstly, lovely views, easy access to shops & pubs etc (it’s actually bang opposite a great pub find!) The house itself is great, very spacious - we particularly loved the living/dining/kitchen area. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need - plus anything you might not have thought to have packed! The bedrooms were good also, slight moan with the bathrooms as there’s very little ventilation for 3 bathrooms on the top floor. Other than that beds are comfy, everything was fairly clean and we would most definitely love to return here! Fantastic communication from the owners (even though they weren’t in the UK!) Thank you :)

About the host

Hosted by Kevin and Sophia

Host profile image
Sophia and Kevin, together with Gareth and Seana.

Kevin was born & grew up in the south-west, and together with Sophia who is Greek bought the Old Quay House as their only home. Working away in Africa for many months each year allows them to let the Old Quay House for holidays, hoping others will enjoy the south-west and their home as much as they do.

Why they chose this property

Growing up in the south-west, this is simply home. Falmouth is a fantastic place. The high street is yards away, with supermarkets, restaurants, cafe´s, galleries, craft shops, cinema, pubs, and so forth. The National Maritime Museum is a short stroll, the sandy Gyllingvase beach a ten minute walk, and the sandy Swanpool beach a further five. Pendennis castle, the harbour, recreation centre, and much more are a saunter away. The coastal footpath can be joined going west, or take a ferry from the adjacent quayside to go east.

Further afield there is the Lizard peninsula with its coves and tea shops, Penzance and Land´s End with the Minnack Theatre, the north coast and its surf beaches, the Cornish Mining Heritage sites and mines that can be visited, the Eden Centre, fishing villages stretching up the coast, and more.

What makes this property unique

The Old Quay House was built two hundred years ago as part of a seaman´s mission, and became the residence of the preacher at the quayside Bethel. On one side the rear of the house drops directly down into the sea in King Charles Quay, and on the other side the front door is within yards of Custom House Quay and the 16th century Chainlocker public house. Wake up in the groundfloor bedroom knowing the sea is lapping a few feet away, or in the other bedrooms on the second floor overlooking the harbours. Or in the winter cosy up to the open flame fire.
