About Owner Yr Hen Ardd
As children, my husband and I visited Pembrokeshire with our familes regularly for Summer holidays. My husband camped every year in Marloes, not far from the top of Marloes Sands near the mere, and I stayed more in the Saundersfoot/Tenby/Freshwater areas. Our families passion for this beautiful area started our dream to one day own a property here ourselves. Our first holiday together was to Marloes, where we camped on the village green. We have visited regularly as a family ourselves since our daughter was just a month old or so, and have been returning upto 4 times a year since. We just can't stay away and plan to make Pembrokeshire our home as soon as we are able.
Owner Yr Hen Ardd purchased this House in 2017
Why Owner Yr Hen Ardd chose Saint Ishmael's
This property is large and spacious and more modern than other properties we have stayed in the area at. It is a great place for families to share or for family/friend celebrations. There are two lesser known beaches, Monks Haven and Lindsway Bay, both can easily be walked to within 10 minutes. There is also a great little pub in the village, the Brook Inn, just a couple of minutes walk away, who are serving tasty but simple pub food. There is a good beer garden and children are welcome. Pets also allowed in the garden area.
What makes this House unique
Large bedrooms, character kitchen/diner with plenty of room for families and friends to enjoy sharing meal-times together. Lovely quiet location, near to visitor attractions but away from the madding crowds.Right on the edge of the village and just a few minutes walk to the two beaches, the coastal path and the pub.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
The property was everything I could wish for and suited everyone in our group.
I was delighted with this property. It was very clean and beautifully furnished with everthing our party of children from four months old to grandparents of 71 years could need.
The bedrooms were very comfortable and large with lovely quilts, pillows and linen. There was plenty of storage.
The three bathrooms were very clean and new. We had lots of good quality towels to use.
The lounge was bright with lots of comfortable seating. There were lots of board games and videos. However we very rarely used the room as we spent most of our time whilst in the house in the kitchen.
The kitchen had a very comprehensive range of pans, pots, etc. Adequate for a holiday. The appliances helped make our stay very comfortable.
One of the best things about the house was the huge kitchen table with bench and pew. We all spent hours sitting around it - siping wine, eating, chatting, laughing and playing games. The heart of the house.
St. Ishmaels is very well appointed to reach many areas of interest. It was in easy reach of the coast and many really good walks from the house. The owners provided lots of information on all the activities and venues nearby and we loved the laminated guided walks.
The local pub is well worth a visit for entertainment and a good basic food menu. The local garden centre only about 200 yards from the house is delightful with lovely staff and great for a cooked breakfast and lunch.
We all loved our stay and would certainly think of returning one day. One of our group said that it was "Cornwall without the crowds".
Thank you so much for providing such an extensive review. We were bowled over by your very kind words and are so pleased to have created the perfect holiday home for you. We couldn’t do it without the support of our housekeeper and her team, our gardener, and amazing handyman and builder in St. Ishmaels. We do hope you can visit us again at Yr Hen Ardd in future.
A really well appointed property in a peaceful Pembrokeshire village
Our group loved Yr Hen Ardd. It’s a fantastic property for a large group with comfortable, spacious and light bedrooms and a great, well equipped kitchen which made group evening meals a real pleasure.
I would strongly recommend Yr Hen Ardd
Thank you for your review. We are so glad your group enjoyed the location of the house and the space offered at Yr Hen Ardd and that we have achieved our aim in the kitchen, by providing everything you needed to enjoy your evening meals together as a group. We hope you'll stay again.
Great for all ages of family & dogs.
Great spacious family house. Location is good, you don’t have to travel far to all the really lovely beaches. Safe & secure garden for children & dogs. Lots of cooking pots supplied for big family meals. Great seafood is easily available either in local pubs or for cooking at home. The deli in Littlehaven is especially good for lobsters and crabs. The bbq is a great asset,we used it three times in the week. The large table makes family dining a great experience.
We would go again and hopefully will. That’s the best compliment we can offer.
Thank you for the biggest compliment. We would love you to visit Yr Hen Ardd again, you would be most welcome. The beaches really are amazing in the area, we are spoilt for choice! We are so glad to hear that you made good use of the BBQ and you found that cooking for a large family group was easy with the pots etc which we provide. We wanted group meals to be easy and enjoyed together at the large table. It's a great way to all come together and discuss the day's activities. The seafood is a great bonus, we are very lucky to have some great new options in the area for seafood, pizza, pub and restaurant meals. We hope to see you again at Yr Hen Ardd, St.Ishmaels.
Lovely property - well presented
Very comfortable - plenty of space - comfortable beds - pleasantly decorated and ideal for our family of 8 adults 4small children and 1dog. We loved the beaches in the area, particularly Marloes, despite the trek down. We were lucky enough to have fabulous weather.
We are so glad you had such a comfortable stay and enjoyed Yr Hen Ardd for your family stay. The beaches in the area are just wonderful and Marloes Sands has been our favourite for many years. You did have amazing weather, and this can often be the case in the area, with it's very special microclimate. We do hope you'll visit again next time you visit the area.
Fantastic Holiday at Yr Hen Ardd, St Ishmaels, Pembrokeshire
The house exceeded our expectations. There were 10 in our party, 6 adults and 4 children and the house met all our requirements. The bedrooms were well appointed, the beds were very comfy, the kitchen / dining room was large enough to sit 12 at a long table and the lounge had enough easy chairs, dvds and games to keep everyone happy. The weather was very good and the local beaches were great.

We have tried hard to achieve comfort for up to 12 guests, so are pleased to hear that the house worked for your group. So glad the weather was good for you and that you enjoyed the great beaches that Yr Hen Ardd is situated near to. Please do come again.
