A self-catering rental with unique ethno-rustic furniture near the sea
- English, German, Spanish, Italian
Antonio and Cristina bumped into the ruins of an old rustic country house during a holiday in Sardinia in 2007. It was love at first sight. What was once a long sought dream of owning a fantastic vacation home came true in just three years of passionate renovation and remarkable hard work. Considered to be ‘one of the best 20 holiday villas in the Mediterranean‘ by “The Observer”, ‘fabulous‘ by “The Sunday Times”, the most striking example of unparalleled, authentic architectural recovery in south western Sardinia is today a place to enjoy the pleasures of life. With little money, a big dream and a strong determination to succeed, Antonio and Cristina started a wonderful journey that changed their lives. This is the story of Casa Teulada, a phoenix risen from ashes thanks to the passion of her new young owners, who embarked onto an adventure that seemed impossible to the most. Careful dedication, unlimited creative zeal, a clear vision of what others failed to see, together with an unbreakable faith in a winning idea despite all obstacles turned the impossible possible. Featured in some of the most prominent Italian and International design magazines as well as important newspapers, broadcasted on the Travel Channel UK and photographed by professionals worldwide and passers by alike, Casa Teulada keeps attracting holidaymakers year after year. Today, Antonio and Cristina open the doors of Casa Teulada to enthusiastic vacationers from around the world, willing to share a piece of the dream in a place for the senses within one of Italy’s last and best kept secrets: pristine, authentic south western Sardinia. Let the owners introduce you to this marvel, share their dream with your dreams and may you be their guest someday…
Why Antonio chose Teulada
Because it was set in a rural, authentic, genuine and warm environment, close to friendly locals, extremely convenient with all amenities right outside the door, and the most spectacular beaches of the entire Mediterranean all around. We were looking for something still untouched, pristine and not overdeveloped and ruined by mass tourism, yet close to a main airport (Cagliari - CAG). In a sentence, away from the hustle and bustle of cities and close to your soul...We called the property 'A Place for the Senses' not by chance and everyone staying here can feel the wonderful, cozy energy this house transmits.
What makes this Villa unique
* Relax in a home of a kind, impeccably cleaned (as our guests write in our guestbook every time) and with a cozy ambience and a great care for details. * Enjoy the convenience of being in a typical southern Italian village, yet just 5 minutes from 30 km of amazing beaches, coves and inlets and 1 hour from Sardinia's main gateway (Cagliari). * Park your car outside the door for free and walk anywhere in town to stock up on food, eat ice cream, go to the few typical restaurants and awesome Pizzeria * Stay in the most beautiful and unparalleled property in the entire area. * Sample a different beach every day, for as long as you stay. * Practice your favorite sport, go snorkeling, diving, scuba diving, horseback-riding, golf (there are 2 courses not far), rent a speedboat or simply lay at the sun reading a book and sipping a drink. If you are a passionate kiter, there are some of the best kite surfing beaches in the entire Mediterranean. * Be surrounded by nature and take wonderful walks, hikes or go Mountain biking with the bikes we make available. * Just let yourself go and recharge your batteries

Absolutely Charming piece of Local Sardinia
This apartment is just the most charming, wonderful place to stay. Hosts are impeccable. It is the quaint town of Tuelada and within 30 minutes drive are numerous gorgeous beaches. It is a wonderful way to have time in an authentic part of Sardinia. Loved it, will recommend to others and hopefully to return myself someday.
Thank you so much Laura for your kind words of appreciation. We hope to be able to host you again in the future and this time for a longer stay, so you can sample many more things this land has to offer :)
Take care. Antonio and Cristina
If you want an immaculate rustic experience and immerse yourself in local Sardinian culture!
Tranquil relaxation in a superbly renovated Sardian villa in a secluded private courtyard with the fragrances of beautiful flora. The absence of TV and radio is a definite plus which enables a complete get-away from the stresses of a busy life. The villa is beautifully appointed in a rustic simplistic style and even more enticing with it's air conditioning a god-send from the hot summer outside. Get down to Bar Mazzini for a relaxed coffee or excellent glass of wine/local beer and immerse yourself with the locals. We loved the personal friendly service and keen prices! I have never had better pizza home cooked ever at Bar Mazzini! There are certainly two superb atmospheric restaurants in Teulada serving great local fare.
Within a 30 minute coastal drive, which is a joy of fantastic views, there are any number of stunning bays and coves and classic white sand beaches fringed by turquoise waters. Amazing! We were spoilt for choice! Chia and Tuerrada being favourites.
Words cannot adequately do justice to a Sardian holiday like this.
Thank you for sharing what made your stay special, Chris. The atmosphere, relax and peace of Casa Teulada is one of the highlights of who's seeking a place to unplug from our daily busy life. We chose it on purpose and built with that in mind.
There are a few new restaurants in twon serving great food and so comes our mobile app handy for all our guests: we give everyone tips on things to see and do, beaches to go to, and restaurants to try. See you next time.
very nice and original
The home Teulada is great, no argue there. But there are some things to improve. I don't mind, that the owner won't put a TV in, but a radio should be there. We've been there in October and unfortunately there were a plague of flies so you couldn't sit outdoors not having a fly flying directly in to your mouth. So with no TV, no radio, no outdoor sitting possibility and no reading light in the apartment we had to go to sleep, at 9 PM. Therefore the kitchen. In this small kitchen is literally no space. We had to put our stuff on the floor. In this price category should be a dishwasher installed but it wasn't. Although the were no dishwasher the were no enough space to put your hand washed dishes either. What's up with that?! It was were frustrating. The apartment is beautiful and romantic but it is definitely not luxurious there and it isn't comfortable either (according to other reviews). With some improvements (dishwasher, kitchen shelves, reading lights, radio) this could be the best place to stay in south Sardegna, but now it is definitely not. I'm sorry, but the apartment is more or less overrated.
Thank you very much for giving us your feedback and for your suggestions. We feel sorry that you didn't enjoy it as much as our previous guests throughout the years and you experienced what we would call a pretty unusual thing, beyond our control (flies are not a typical feature of Sardinia).
Like we say on our website (https://casateulada.com/casa-teulada-1/) and on our listings, Casa Teulada is meant to have you relax, let your stressful life go and return to a more peaceful and laid back lifestyle. For this reason we intentionally refrained from having TV and electronic appliances that may disturb the atmosphere of the whole place, although we do have free wi-fi internet for those needing to stay connected to the world. Not surprisingly until today, this is considered a ‘bonus’ by our past guests, at least from the feedback they've been giving us so far. We may consider adding a radio in the future, but we cannot guarantee it until you read it being in the property's description both here and on our website for the reasons mentioned above.
We'll take on your suggestion to add more shelves in the kitchen, in addition to those being there already. It's on our to-do-list of things we do every year, when we fly to our home to perform our regular checks and fix what's broken or missing (we live 800 km from Casa Teulada and fly there as often as we can).
We're a bit surprised to read there is no reading light in the apartment, because we may either misunderstand what you mean or it does not respond to the truth, in fact reading lights can be clearly seen also in photos of the bedroom both here and on our website (https://casateulada.com/casa-teulada-1/), and our local staff is trained to make sure broken things (if any) are repaired or changed immediately.
Despite your not totally satisfied stay, for which we feel sorry, we sincerely thank you for giving us the chance to stress how our property is TV and electronic appliances free - apart from the included wi-fi internet connection (it has lots of books to enjoy reading and a great fireplace for rediscovering the pleasure of talking to each other by a crackling fireplace when in season). Therefore we strongly recommend all future prospective guests to take into account the importance of this aspect in their decision making process, as our home is hardly considered overrated; it may not be suited for everyone though and we totally understand.
A Special Place
We had a very enjoyable stay at Casa Teulada on our honeymoon. It was a perfect setting for us to explore the south of Sardinia. We felt the service we received was very good and the housekeeper was very attentive. Overall, it was a wonderful few days and we would of course recommend it to friends and family.
We are delighted to be chosen by honeymooners year after year! Casa Teulada fits many different guests criteria (couples, families, friends and honeymooners as well). You correctly pointed out how our strategic position makes it a perfect base from which to explore south western Sardinia. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. It is much appreciated. Antonio & Cristina
unique gem in the heart of Teulada.
stayed here for 5 wonderful days in this itsy bitsy village 5 km from beautiful white powder sand beaches and water as clear as glass . this is an eclectic delight equipped with everything you could need from a well appointed kitchen to outdoor showers. If you look at the photos I think you would agree that the three apartments combined would be a perfect spot to have a family reunion. My head is already trying to plan one for next year! Also, elena nad her parents who live next door and care for the property are the sweetest and most helpful people you could ask for. If you,re looking for the costa smeralda this is a world away and for me that's great.
You are right, when you say this is a world away from the fancy Costa Smeralda (the emerald coast) in the north of the island. Our area is the perfect place for those seeking peace and relax in a genuine, authentic place, far from crowds and surrounded by warm locals like our neighbors, who are always there to help if needed. Great place for a family reunion, our Casa Teulada not only hosts couples and small families, honeymooners and friends, but we also had the privilege to host entire families which gathered here for special events like birthdays or anniversaries. We love that! And everyone loves that too! Feel free to come back any time, maybe with friends, so you can all rent the whole units and enjoy Casa Teulada to its best. Grazie!
A complete joy
Casa Teulada is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. I make a hobby of finding beautiful affordable unique places to stay around the world and Casa Teulada is my all time favorite. The villa is beautifully appointed and authentic. The beds are fabulous. It is quiet and lovely. The patio is wonderful and a perfect place to sip chilled wine after swimming in the pale blue translucent ocean. The kitchen is wonderful and all the amenties are lovely. The town is not tourist oriented and therefore, authenticity is maintained. We had fun sharing a few evenings with our neighbors, talking about our days and sharing a BBQ. We were all of like mind - wanting a true Sardenian experience. All of us were so pleased. Antonio was very kind and helpful. This is the real thing. A place worth waiting for and a place to remember forever. Deb and Lisa
Reading such a review truly made all our continuous efforts worth it and there is nothing we can say but Thank You! Thank you Deb and Lisa for sharing such wonderful thoughts with us and with the world! You've come all the way from Oregon to sample another way of living which resonates with many people's dreams, including ours. And that is why we found it in Sardinia and placed special care and attention to ensure all those deciding to stay at Casa Teulada have a truly memorable, happy holiday like the ones we have every time we come to Sardinia. Authenticity is the word that best represents this entire place, people and island. And we renovated our home with this in mind. We are so glad it clearly shows up everywhere and everyone is so happy about it. It also means, so far we were able to address the right people, those seeking a truly genuine place, far from crowds, yet immerse in a legendary environment and a well kept secret.
Plane to Cagliari, Olbia or Alghero (Ryanair,Easyjet, BA from UK). Ferry from Genova,Livorno,Civitavecchia to Cagliari, Olbia, Porto Torres.
From Cagliari take road SS195 direction Pula, Chia, Domus De Maria and Teulada.
Upon arrival in Chia (about 45 km) you may choose between two different ways to reach Teulada: a striking coastal road or an equally impressive internal road.
The coastal road is taken going left on SS 195 at the crossroads with Chia on SP71. After about 20 km you enter Teulada westwards through its main street, Via Sulcis. Follow the road all the way up to the Police Station (Carabinieri). Just before the Carabinieri turn left uphill and take Piazza Martiri. Follow the road to the end (approx. 200 mt) and turn right at the Pharmacy (Farmacia). Follow the road, Via Umberto I, for about 20 mt and you’ll see the main square with the church of Teulada. Keep driving 20mt. and you'll see CASA TEULADA, the stunning red house on the left corner of the road.
