Lovely spacious ground floor studio with en-suite.
Hello my name is Diane I live on a farm with my husband and two children. We have refurnished the cottage into a cosy place to relax in and enjoy nature in comfort. I have worked in the hospitality business for a long time, I like meeting people from different parts of the UK and the world.
Diane purchased this Studio in 2017
Why Diane chose Hexham
Keepershield cottage is situated in a lovely rural location, it is ideal for those seeking a cosy retreat. It is ideally located for visiting different parts of Northumbria and Hadrian's Wall.
What makes this Studio unique
The Barn Owl at Keepershield Cottage is tastefully re-furnished maintaining it's many original features. The property is ideal for those exploring Hadrian's Wall. It has a lovely shared spacious garden which is shared with the Woodpecker on the first floor. There is a decking area for long relaxing evenings there is also a private patio area outside the kitchen. It's also ideal for star gazing on long summer nights. There is a resident owl which often sits on the garden fence.

Good cottage and location, excellent owner
Diane is extremely helpful and generous as a host and has provided facilities that are not all currently mentioned in the property blurb, including a 55" internet TV with access to Netflix and a whole cupboard full of games.
The fields around provided additional entertainment, with, for instance, regular garden visits from a pair of pheasants. The farm bull (who we called Big Business, of course) was very entertaining but may already have left for pastures new, leaving Beatrice and his other mates bereft.
The property is perfectly situated for exploration of Hadrian's Wall, south Northumberland, Durham and even Cumbria.
Great location & lovely property
Really well placed property for exploring hadrians wall .
Thanks Rebecca I’m glad that you had a lovely stay!
This is a fantastic house! Romantic decorations，very clean and morden! It is amazing that the kitchen has everything! We can find all kitchen supplies we needed! More over, the landlord family is quite warm and nice! They waited us until night and left food and wine for us, which touched us greatly!
Thanks Li I'm really glad that you all enjoyed your stay. It was lovely to meet you all, and we hope that you can stay again in the future.
Diane and family.
A great value property in a good location for exploring
The property consists of the recently refurbished parts of a farm house on a working farm. Effectively you have 3/4 of the house with an office downstairs (on the other side of a locked door) still used by the farm (although we never heard anyone one).
The house was in very good condition and sympathetically furnished with mostly wooden floors. All rooms are big, kitchen particularly excellent with a big dining table for all. The heating worked well and it was generally warm throughout with flexible electric fires in the sitting room and kitchen, but do remember it is an old house so there will be drafts.
The garden is small but works well and is enclosed to keep (most) dogs and children in. There is dedicated parking for 3-4 cars. The only drawback is that you pull out onto a road where the traffic can be going quickly and there is very little visibility to the left. We found it easier to pull out right along the wide pavement for 50 yards and then turn into a side road to pull out again with much better visibility both ways.
The location is great for exploring but as you would expect very rural, you can walk a good mile along back roads to a village shop and pub but that is about it. You will need a car and with one you are in easy reach of Hadrian's Wall, Kielder and the Borders. Hexham is only 20 minutes away by car with plenty of supermarkets etc.
Diane (the owner) was there to great us when we arrived and show us round and we found everything very much as described.
The property cottage has been refurnished, it is secluded and we are the nearest neighbour and about 100 yards from the house. It is located near Chesters and Housteads Roman Fort, which is part of the National parks. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is very popular with tourists. The Sill and Kielder forest are also popular places to visit.
It takes about 30 minutes to drive to Newcastle which has many attractions and near by beaches. Star gazing is very popular here because of the dark skys. There is an observatory at Battlesteads and Kielder Forest Lake park is about a 40 minute drive..
