Ribeira Brava is one of the oldest towns in Madeira, located on the southwest coast of this island. This locality due to its orography had a very important paper in the communications between all the points of the island. The fusion of sea and mountain provides a unique environment with breathtaking views. The fact that this village is flat gives it moments of exploration of its nooks by walking or cycling. In the center of the village it is possible to visit the historic and emblematic church named the "Mother Church", as well as the Fort of S. Bento which currently functions as a Tourist Information Center and also the traditional market with regional products. There is also the Ethnographic Museum and Lighthouse of Ribeira Brava where you can glimpse the magnificent view of the sea and the village. The village has multiple services, such as cafes, restaurants, banks, three supermarkets, laundry, health center, pharmacy, police station, shopping center and public transports. Ribeira Brava is located in the center of Funchal, 15 minutes from the city of Funchal by car in the motorway. But if you want direct contact with nature you can take off to Serra de Água to appreciate the beauty of that valley and you can still walk in the wonderful Levadas that exist there. If you prefer to dive in the crystal clear waters of Ribeira Brava we have the paradisiac Calhau da Lapa and Fajã dos Padres.
