About the property

Superb 2 bedroom luxury apartment, sleeps 4

This fantastically placed 2 bedroom apartment has recently been entirely renovated and refurbished giving guests a new kitchen, bathroom and living area. I am very happy with the finish on the apartment and I know that my guests will just love it!

The apartment is in the perfect location to explore the sights and sounds of Ireland's vibrant capital city. Offering safe and secure accommodation for 4 people (1 double bed & 1 bunk bed with doule bottom and single top). The extra accommodation is to provide familys with sufficent space (there is also a travel cot provided for infants), there is a maximum of 4 adults per stay. Fresh bed linen and towels are supplied. This apartment is also my home and as such it is kept to the highest standards allowing guests five star luxury within the ease and comfort of a home from home.

The apartment faces into a large courtyard garden that is ideal for relaxation and gives loads of space for kids to play. It also ensures that the apartment is quite while still in the centre of the action.

Satellite TV with DVD player and Wii entertainment system and a selection of board games are available for those lazy days! It is a 3rd floor apartment and there is a lift.

As the property is managed by the owner I am always available should you have any inquiries during your stay. As such I am always willing to accommodate you with regard to dates and prices subject to availability, get in touch and we'll do our best.

Please note that bookings made for dates directly preceeding the previous guest will always get preference, the apartment is not run by an agency and as such we must maximise its occupancy.

About Jonny

Hi, I am a self employed engineer who as it happens has a great city centre property where I lived myself for 10 years. I live in the same apartment block so I am always close by if you have any problems and Aliona, my fantastic houskeeper, always ensures that everything is in tip top order for your arrival.

Jonny purchased this apartment in 1997

Why Jonny chose North City

This newly remodelled and renovated property is in a fantastic location for anyone wishing to explore the city by foot.

What makes this apartment unique

The property offers fantastic value for money. This apartment has not been designed in order to maximise profits, it has been designed to my specifications to maximise my own comfort and now guests get the benefit of that quality.

Great location, but lacking

  • 3 of 5

The apartment was in an excellent location, one that could not be beat. However, there were some key missing factors that disrupted our stay. Most significantly was the temperature of the apartment: it was freezing. Heating unit for the bedrooms was set between 7C-10C and instructions from the owner instructed us to not change any settings for more than 2 hours at a time. Hot water worked only once, and we were all forced to wear many layers while sleeping in order to stay warm. I would not stay in this apartment during cold months again. Additionally, the listing mentions there is a tumble dryer, but there is not. This is typical of European apartments, but I did not appreciate the false advertising. Bunk beds were quite squeaky, and alleyway slightly noisy at night, but overall beds were adequately comfortable. Another minor detail that was overlooked was the lack of toilet paper rolls left in the bathroom. All small things that add up to make an impact on one’s stay.

Overall, we would recommend this property in warm months only. The location was amazing, but we were prevented from having an enjoyable stay due to the frigid temperatures inside the apartment.

*note our stay was during the unusually freezing temperatures experienced by Dublin leading up to Storm Emma, so perhaps the heating would be adequate during normal Dublin weather.

Owner's Response: I'm afraid I don't really understand this review. The apartment has excellent modern warm heating, at no time have I ever told a guest to only have the heating on for two hours at a time. Its ludicrous to suggest I would as obviously I want every guest to be comfortable. there is plentiful hot water, I have checked it again since this review and there are no issues with it so again I am at a loss as to why this is an issue. I'm afraid that even if this guest had brought any of these issues to my attention (which they did not), I doubt that any action would have satisfied them, they seemed more keen to find fault than enjoy their stay, such as the city centre being occasionally "slightly noisy." At least they seem to have admitted that I am not responsible for the severest snow storm Ireland has seen since 1982. That this guest is so particular makes it all the more bizarre that they felt free to steal two of my forks! Strange people.

Convenient and nice!

  • 5 of 5

This worked out well for our long weekend in Dublin. It's conveniently located near the popular Temple Bar area and had a variety of shopping, restaurants and pubs within a 5-10 minute walk. The building is secure, the unit was quiet and Jonathon was very helpful. I would highly recommend this for location and convenience.

Excellent place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Our first trip to Ireland was a wonderful experience. Thanks to Jonny and his wonderful flat. Clean, comfortable and perfect location. I would have given 5 stars, but some very minor issues with the bureau - which Jonny promised would soon be fixed - kept me from 'going all the way'. I slept in the queen bedroom, one son slept in the bunk room, and my youngest slept on the couch. We all slept well (which for me is no mean feat). Overall this is an excellent value.

I would definitely recommend this place to others. And we would love to stay here again on our nest trip to Ireland.

Lovely apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, mother-in-law, and I stayed here for a week while we explored in and around Dublin. Jonny was great - very responsive to any questions or needs. The apartment is right by the Ha’penny Bridge, across the Liffey from Temple Bar. We walked to everything in the city, only renting a car to travel outside Dublin. A mini-market (SPAR) is a couple doors down, and mass transit is super accessible. We had a great stay and would highly recommend this location!

Cozy apartment in fantastic city centre location

  • 4 of 5

Jonny had contacted us before hand to let us know that the apartment would be available from 2pm but we could leave our bags from 11. When we arrived shortly after 11 the apartment was ready for us, which was really handy.

The apartment is in a fantastic location right next to the Ha'penny Bridge. To the south, minutes away, you have the famous Temple Bar area of Dublin full of pubs and restaurants. To the north there is a number of shops and more places to eat and drink.

O'Connell Street is less than 5mins away meaning we were able to jump on the bus at the airport and get to the apartment within 30mins.

The apartment itself was clean and well maintained with everything required for our stay.

As its a city centre location be prepared for the hustle and bustle that comes with it.
