Why Carolyn Mateo chose Costambar

Casa Oasis Vacation Rental versus a Hotel / Resort? Why would someone choose a vacation rental home over a hotel room? We wonder just the opposite…

why would someone choose a hotel over a whole house, condo or other type of vacation rental!Remove yourself from the crowded resort/hotel scene and enjoy the freedom of a vacation rental. A vacation rental villa or condominium can be a very affordable alternative to a traditional resort and/or hotel vacation, especially for groups and families. A typical luxury 3-bedroom villa, rented by six guests or three couples, will rent for about $3,000 for seven nights. That breaks down to just $1,000 per couple for a seven-night stay! A stay in luxury resort can be twice that in the Caribbean! Villas and Condos are usually situated in the same beautiful locations as the finest resort hotels. Renting your own vacation villa or condo provides you with several advantages: luxury, space and privacy. They are usually less expensive than lodging in a Dominican Republic hotel or resort with comparable comforts, yet the entire property is yours to enjoy. In addition, your vacation costs will be lower still because you are not at the mercy of pricey restaurants and bars. Renting directly from owners will typically get you more for your money as well because the high commissions property management companies charge villa owners don’t have to be built in to the price of the rental. Because owners that do the renting themselves generally spend more time at their property, they know first-hand what needs maintenance. You will find rentals by owners are generally maintained better than many “managed” properties.Vacation rentals come fully equipped with all of the amenities that you have at home…and more. Most come complete with linens, bath and beach towels, all the kitchen utensils you could need, TVs, VCRs and stereos.

Big house, but run down and not very clean

  • 2 of 5

The staff was very nice and the house accommodated our large group, but the house was dirty and run down. There weren't many supplies in the kitchen, the filtered water wasn't included in the rental like other places normally do. The bathrooms were very dirty and run down with light bulbs missing and broken faucets. On a positive note, there were enough beds for everyone, which was nice. Overall, though, for the money, we were disappointed and won't be staying here again. Too expensive for the overall stay.

The Dominican Experience... 2 Thumbs Up!

  • 5 of 5

I don’t even know where to start. This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The house was extremely spacious, clean and had more than enough space for me and my 5 friends. We all had our own rooms with bathroom. Karina did far more than was required of her during and leading up to our stay here. I'm sure she got sick of me calling her... She was available whenever I needed her and she continuously asked me if we had any issues. The only issue we ran into was the upstairs Internet going in and out but if you unplug the router, it will reset and work just fine... Karina organized our transportation to and from STI airport for a small fee as well. I thought it would be pretty hot but the individual AC systems cool down your rooms pretty fast and if you leave it running while you’re gone, your room will be really really cold even in mid summer. The maintenance man, house keeper and cook were all sooooo friendly. They all definitely made us feel right at home. The cook Wishney is one of the best cooks I’ve ever met and she can literally make you anything from whatever you buy. There is a local grocery store down the street from the house that is in walking distance so we went there everyday to buy food for Wishney to cook. There is a language barrier obviously, so I would recommend bringing someone that knows Spanish or simply download the Google translator app (like we did) because none of us knew a lick of Spanish. Once we had the app on our phones, communicating with everyone in the house staff, store personnel and locals became very easy. Just be patient while using it though. We partied in Sosua for a couple of nights, did an ATV excustion and rented a party boat... We definitely had the time of our lives. There is always something to do here… We definitely plan on doing this again next year and certainly enjoyed this experience much more than staying in a resort. Thank you Karina! 5 stars…

Had a Great time

  • 4 of 5

My friends and I stayed at casa oasis for about 5 nights from April 16-21. We had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful, always very positive and attentive, specially Matilda the cook. Matilda's cooking was delicious, she made us feel right at home and although our meal request was not too demanding, she always delivered as requested. The house was cleaned every day and the backyard was well maintained. I had some minor complaints which I expressed to the owner, in regards to small improvements that could be made for guests to further enjoy their stay. Karina, the owner was very understanding, accommodating, and friendly. Emails and messages were always replied within an hour or so. My experience in dealing with her is nothing short of awesome.

The only reason this villa did not get a 5 star rating was because the annoying neighbor to the left of the house kept calling security on us to turn down the music. The music was at a level that could be heard outside the house but not enough to disturb anyone around. We complied with the neighbor, every time he complained because we are reasonable people. The owner of the villa was informed that we were there for a bachelor party and that we would play music, I then asked her if that was going to be an issue. She responded no, that music has never been an issue. On our last night, the supervisor for security came over and demanded that we either turned down the music or he would have the police over and make us. I explained to him that there was no reason for that, however the neighbor rudely screamed at one of us to turn down the music like a maniac. Due to the rude approach of the neighbor and the condescending and unprofessional approach of Luis Gomez the security supervisor I refused to turned it down. Gomez told me that costambar is a retiree community of older folks and music is not tolerated. I related the message to Karina the owner who stated she would immediately write a formal complaint against the guard for his unprofessionalism. Besides hiccup I would definitely recommend this place to stay and would stay again myself.

Cómo si estuviéramos en casa!

  • 4 of 5
