Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with private walled garden and Moorland Views

Longhedge is an old stone cottage on the edge of Bodmin moor with plenty of bedrooms and communal spaces.

It is well equipped with bedrooms, TV room and a bathroom upstairs and has a sizeable sitting room downstairs to spend time together along with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, shower room with WC and space to store coats, shoes, bikes and other essentials of visiting the moor.

It also boasts an attractive south facing walled garden and terrace that is equipped with a gas barbeque and is perfect as a safe play area for young children.

There is a gated driveway with parking space for two cars at the front. Additionally you can park in "the gap" right outside the front gate if need be.

The beautiful village of Minions, is perched high on the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor, a stone's throw from the tourist hotspots of the Cornish coast. It has a village post office/shop, tea rooms and a pub right opposite the house. The moor is immediately behind the house, as is the famous "Hurlers" standing stone circles, the Cheesewring rock formation and numerous mine buildings and historical sites making it a haven for walkers and the perfect place for a relaxing break for people who like the beauty and seclusion of the moor. The Minions moorland, particularly its mining heritage, is a major film location and can be seen in series such as Poldark, Doc Martin and Jamaca Inn as well as Tim Burton's latest film "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children".

Longhedge is equally a wonderful base for exploring all the charm that Cornwall has to offer.

The Stannery town of Liskeard is a short drive (15mins) or cycle ride away. There are numerous local sites to visit, including a watersports activity and fly-fishing lake, Siblyback (5mins), woodland walks at Golitha Falls (10mins), the seaside towns of Fowey and Looe (20 mins), the Eden project (35 mins), and many other local places of interest. The National Trust properties of Lanhydrock, Cothele and Anthony House are close by and the North Cornish coast is less than an hour away, where you will find places such as Padstow, Rock and Tintagel. There are also riding stables, clay pigeon shooting grounds (professional tuition available) and golf courses in the area.

Lovely cottage!!!!

  • 4 of 5

Had a really nice time with friends. The cottage is located in a rural area and we stayed only for three nights, therefore didn't have enough time to explore the local area. But looks ideal for walks. The landlord was very friendly and helpful. Lovely old looking cottage.
