About the location:

Stornoway 20 miles

The area known as Pairc, South Lochs is made up of a number of small villages and is situated in the south east area of Lewis. Habost is one of the oldest settlements. Visitors to this remote and peaceful Island will enjoy its spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches as well as our many historic sights such as the Callanais Standing Stones reputed to be older than Stonehenge and a well preserved Pictish broch and the Blackhouse village at Garenin. Stornoway is the main shopping town and Lews Castle museum is well worth a visit to view the world famous Lewis Chessmen. The Island is a great place to spot wildlife such as both of Britain's largest raptors, the sea and golden eagle, seals, deer, whales, otter and dolphins amongst many others.

Perfect cottage in a lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. It was very well equipped to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. It truly felt like home. It was well situated to enjoy the area. Anne the owner made us feel very welcome when we met her and the welcome pack was a lovely thought. We will definitely be booking again for next year. Can’t wait to come back.

Great house and location. Perfectly prepared for us, very helpful owner.

  • 5 of 5

All communication prior to our visit was very friendly and helpful. The directions were accurate, entry to the property easy. The house was spotlessly clean, and the owner provided an unexpected welcome basket which was very thoughtful and included a very kind gift for a special occasion. The location was beautiful on the shore of a sea loch, with ever-changing scenery, it was captivating. We had easy access to all of Lewis and Harris, very different fro.eachother with so much to see and do. We only had 5 days, so intend to return. We would highly recommend these islands and this accommodation. JS,

Ideal holiday home that exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We found the cottage immaculately clean and fitted out with everything that one would need for a comfortable stay. We were blessed with unbelievably good weather - clear blue skies, light breeze, 20+ degrees C on occasions - just one morning of rain during the entire week.

The cottage was easy to find and conveniently situated to explore the island in all directions. We were fascinated by the birds on Loch Eireasort but disappointed that we didn't see any otters or dolphins as we travelled along the coast - better luck next time.

Visited beautiful beaches at Bosta, Uig and Luskentyre.

The Golden Road on the east coast of Harris offered breath-taking scenery but we were probably fortunate in taking this route in the evening when it was quiet and almost traffic-free.

All in all, this was probably one of the best equipped holiday cottages that I have rented over the last 25 years.
