Set within 5 acres with wonderful views of the Mendip hills AONB. Sit and relax by the pond with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and quiet or if feeling more energetic, fantastic walking and cycling on the doorstep. Golf or fishing available within Bleadon village as well as two pubs, cafe, store. Mendip Cottage, 1 Bedroom, sleeps 2. Mendip is the middle cottage of three it has a lovely welcoming open plan living room with kitchen and dining area. Exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling. Solid oak furniture, tiled floors and wonderful underfloor heating. A good sized double bedroom which has a lovely contemporary en-suite fully tiled wet room, toiletries, robes slippers and towels provided. A rear door opens onto an extremely private not overlooked patio area, South facing, so a real sun trap.
Many lovely beaches nearby, Brean, Uphill and Weston Super Mare.
Ideal for exploring Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, beautiful cathedral city of Wells, Glastonbury Tor, Bath, Bristol and Taunton

A delightful wee holiday after he covid lockdown

A beautiful quiet cottage, very well appointed, specially prepared for Covid-19 regulations. Trudy was a very helpful hostess and made it like a second home for us - that's why this was our second visit. Peter and Pat.

Peace and tranquillity

A very beautiful cottage with everything needed to enjoy a peaceful week away. Beautiful surroundings. Trudy and Paul were perfect hosts. Would highly recommend and look forward to going there again.

Don’t go for the Spa

Trudy was amazing. The place is spotless and quiet, really good for getting away from the city and have a romantic getaway. However, do not go without a car as moving around the area is expensive and time consuming. The spa is not by any means a spa, it’s more of a leisure center falsely advertised as such :( the spa and sauna rooms are part of a run down gym, pool is ok but solarium is a lie (scarce, sketchy and dirty sunbeds). Treatments are impossible to book (massages etc) as it’s just one lady who has no timetable with the actual “spa”. We went and turned around immediately, wasting 35£ worth of taxis. As mentioned Trudys cottage is lovely (bed and linen are of a superb quality, better than a hotel really) family’s lovely and cleanliness is a five star rating. Only reason we gave it 4 starts is location is hard and spa was a local gym, if anything, not a spa at all.

We moved to Lakeside Barns in Bleadon in 2002. This property was the dairy of the farm next door, which consisted of an old large grain barn, which is now our home and other outbuildings. Over the years we have slowly renovated, Knoll, Mendip and South Hill Cottage. Bleadon and the Somerset levels and Mendip Hills are beautiful, we love it here and its been worth all the hard work.

Why they chose this property

We have both always wanted to live in Bleadon in Somerset, it is such a beautiful area. All our married life we have renovated properties and to find a barn conversion in the heart of Bleadon was fantastic. We are so pleased we have finished the holiday cottages so that now other people can enjoy this peaceful Somerset location. A real escape.

What makes this property unique

While you are staying at Lakeside Barns the one thing you will notice is the lack of noise. At night apart from a hooting owl or call from a fox there is just wonderful silence.
All the properties have outside lighting but because there are not any street lights you can really appreciate the illuminating night sky.
We now have a seating area by our large duck pond, looking out onto the views and paddocks, a perfect place to sit and unwind with a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. Keep a sharp eye and you may see Coots, Moorhens, Green or Greater spotted Woodpecker or even a Kingfisher.
