This stylish apartment 'La Vie en Vermeille' is part of an old fisherman’s house, situated in the centre of Collioure, very close (about 90m) to Faubourg's sandy beach.
Tastefully renovated in a simple French Catalan style. Inspiring decoration with discreet and atmospheric lighting.
It is 65 sq metres, bigger than most two bed apartments with a large lounge and dining area (comfortably seating eight guests). There is free wifi. Traditional oak flooring, beams, original fireplace and distinctive contemporary furniture. High quality linens and comfortable bedding. Elegant, fully-fitted kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. Fully equipped including flat screen TV, blue-ray player and iPod dock.
It is available for rental all year round and is ideal for either family holidays or for shorter romantic retreats. It is only minutes away from a range of restaurants all with stunning views of Collioure's famous chateau and clock tower, yet sits in a quiet road with little traffic. It is ideally located to explore the heart of Collioure or this beautiful region.
The apartment is on the first floor of an eighteenth century fisherman's house. It has been recently refurbished, refurnished, and redecorated yet retains its original floor, ceiling beams and fireplace.
It has two comfortable bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. The bedrooms are simply decorated, and there is an emphasis on comfortable, high quality bedding. The bathroom is newly refurbished with a power shower and heated towel rail and radiator. The kitchen has been enlarged and refitted with units including fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave oven and induction hob. A full range of pans and utensils is provided.
The sitting room is relaxing with large sofas and squashy cushions. Again the decoration and furnishings are simple yet sympathetic, combining sleek modern furniture wit locally-sourced accessories. It is a quiet and calm haven after a day enjoying all that Collioure and Roussillon have to offer.
Collioure is the star of the Cote de Vermeille, a sensationally picturesque ensemble of old town, beaches, waterfront castle and church, all set around a compact bay. The resort’s good looks have attracted artists since the early 1900s, when Matisse and Derain started painting here, and the streets are full of galleries. Enjoy pottering through the town, tracing the steps of the long-dead artists, or wandering through the market buying jars of cassoulet, dark Corsican ham, and local pottery. In summer experience the exuberance of the Fete of St Vincent and in the spring the sombre procession of the Sanch on Good Friday.
Our apartment, while located off the Faubourg beach, is also within a few minutes' stroll of the town. Restaurants abound, many with breath-taking views of the castle, clock tower and picturesque harbour. The beach here is long and sandy with a children's playground at one end and a cafe overlooking it where lunch can easily pass into an afternoon enjoying the view.
Further afield there is much to do. Whether looking for outdoor activities ranging from golf to white water rafting and canyoning or soaking up history and culture Catalonia and the Languedoc can offer it all. Visit the famous castles of the Cathars, ruins miraculously perched on vertical cliffs, spend time exploring the medieval towns of Elne and Carcasonne, take dinghy-sailing lessons, learn to dive, or just sit enjoying the AOC Collioure wines while watching the world go by.
For children both young and old there are go-carting, swimming, horse-riding, swimming pools and water sports centres, and lots and lots of beaches.
All this in a place which gets the most sun in France.
