The Pool House is a recently converted, light, contemporary house which is quietly situated on the edge of Petworth and an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is only a short walk to the centre of the historic town, with its convenience stores, delis, many antique shops, independent retailers, gastro pubs and cafes. It is also within easy walking distance of historic Petworth House and Park.

The property benefits from the sole use of a large heated swimming pool during the summer months (operates only from the end of May to early September).

Inside, the house comprises a large open plan sitting room with dining area and well equipped modern kitchen with granite worktops. There is a downstairs bedroom with kingsize bed and ensuite wetroom (and direct access down stairs to the pool and garden- only in the summer months). Upstairs there are two more ensuite bedrooms, one kingsize bed and the other a double. There is a second sitting area upstairs too with a small double sofa bed. (There is an additional fee of £50 payable on arrival for making up and supply of extra linens sofa bed required)

The house is furnished with contemporary furniture and fittings, with light oak flooring throughout. The beds are all very comfortable and the hotel quality linen has a very high thread count and is ironed by hand!

There is ample room to park up to three cars outside (additional cars by arrangement) and for the summer months only, a large well maintained pool and pool garden laid to lawn with flower beds and rambling roses. Modern and comfortable garden furniture, including six pool loungers and a dining table and six chairs, are provided together with a barbecue.

PLEASE NOTE - during peak summer period (21 June - 5 Sep) bookings run Friday to Friday only.

About Carole

We have lived in Petworth for over twenty years, the first three of which we spent renovating and restoring our Grade II listed home.

We now let out our adjacent poolhouse to enable visitors to share in the beautiful town of Petworth and surrounding countryside.

The pool house building was constructed in 2007 and fully refurbished in 2014, including new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms and new flooring and paint work throughout.

This lovingly created home from home has everything you need for a peaceful English country getaway: modern kitchen and 3 ensuites, private pool and garden (during summer months) and local walks, pubs and parks. It is also conveniently located for Goodwood, polo at a Cowdray, Chichester and the coast (25mins drive). Good rail links to London are a short drive away.

Petworth benefits from a number of local attractions, especially during summer months; including various horse racing and motor car events at Goodwood (Glorious Goodwood, Festival of Speed and The Revival); at Cowdray (numerous polo events) as well as in Petworth itself (music festival and literary festival); a little further afield is the renowned Chichester Festival Theatre, Pallant House Gallery, Weald and Downland Museum.

A number of historic sites are nearby too, including Petworth House and Park (within easy walking distance), Parham, Arundel Castle, Uppark, Cowdray Castle ruins and the roman villa ruins at Bignor.

A number of country walking routes are also easily accessible by foot from the house and the South Downs and south coast a short car ride away.
