When the large wooden doors on the street open you will be pleasantly surprised by what’s inside. Climb the old stone steps to a beautiful courtyard. The accommodation is exactly as pictured and described. We found it very clean, with a comfortable mattress and two terraces for relaxing al fresco. The owner and staff were very accommodating. The owner was fully committed to ensuring we enjoyed the many cultural activities available within a short walk of the home. He also provided helpful instructions for where to walk safely. The location was ideal, a few steps from Piazza Teatro Massimo Bellini with numerous restaurants featuring reasonably priced local cuisine. The Basillca, Palazzo Valle and many other historical and cultural sights are a 10 minute walk. There are no parking garages but street parking is available. There are paid parking spaces and “free” spaces. If you find a free space you may be approached by someone offering to protect your car for a few euros. It’s money well spent! We had a wonderful experience in Peppino’s Art & Bed Spaces in Catania and hope you do as well.
My wife and I loved our stay. The afternoon we arrived, our host took us on a quick tour to give us a glimps of the local area, restaurants and shopping. He was amazing. We also joined a tour group to Mt. Etna from the cruise ship, which was only 15 min walk from the appartment. We toured the city on foot and met some amazing people. Thank you for taking care of us during our stay
We stayed here for 7 nights. The location is excellent, within an easy walk of the central train station and major points of interest. There are two supermarkets within an easy walk plus bakeries around the area. The apartment is located within a very pleasant inner courtyard. We found it to be fairly well equipped and clean. We would definitely stay here again.
Well described property.
Really good location. Quiet once you are inside the external door. Good bed, nice balcony. Things that would make it better for me would be some comfortable seating (not dining seats). A bigger coffee pot and a good sharp knife would also help. Nettles are growing on the balcony - not sure they are meant to be there, personally I would treat them as weeds and get rid of them. Overall I was very happy with my stay.
Wonderful place, wonderful people
Our “hats off” to Ellie from Peppino’s Art & Bed Space. We drove from Taormina to Catania on a Sunday and arrived in a torrential rain & thunderstorm. Although we had a rental car map, we managed to lose our way! Ellie helped us with texts/phone calls – and we arrived to find a clean, spacious apartment with a “Welcome” note from Ellie, a package of candy, and a collection of much better maps!
We stayed in the apartment known as Peppino’s Cinema, their “attic apartment”. It has two lovely balconies. One is off the bedroom and has plants that screen the balcony, a table (with umbrella) and two chairs. The other is off the kitchen area and is a perfect place for later afternoon “tea”, or wine/beer. The bedroom is large and spacious with two nice sized free standing closets. The kitchen has a great rustic table, chairs, and good counter space. We put the gas stove to work because we prefer to cook our own breakfasts and dinners. The refrigerator was small but did us well and we found sufficient pots, pans, utensils, etc. The bathroom had a window with shutters, which we liked, and there were good towels, a bathmat, etc. There were two air conditioner units. One in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Both were quiet and did a great job. Our weather was humid and hot so we did use the ac but on our last day the breezes picked up and we simply opened all windows – great! This was another plus as there were lots of windows in the bedroom so you could enjoy looking out across the roofs and skyline of the city.
When you reach Peppino’s, there is an outer door that you unlock with your key…As mentioned, we stayed in the “attic” apartment and so were expecting stairs – but you should be aware that there are two sets of marble steps that lead to a short walkway; then to reach this apartment you climb a very narrow short flight. No problem for us except for lugging large suitcases up and then back down when we left.
Peppino’s is located in the heart of historic Catania. Ideally situated, we loved being able to walk to so many grand buildings. We also enjoyed the fish market – a photograph can't capture the shouting, laughing, interacting and smells! What amazed us is that the market pulsates until about 11am and then the city brings in a truck that literally washes the plaza clean! We found excellent produce (fresh be vegetables and fruits) at reasonable prices near the fish market plus vendors selling meats, cheeses, breads, etc. Great place!
Spent 3 days in this apartment the end of January. Nice place. Clean and comfortable and Mirella (on staff) was very helpful in meeting all our needs. (She even suffered through my poor Italian - helping me learn - until I gave up and used English for certain things. She was perfectly comfortable in English, too.)
The apartment was in an area where there was no parking readily available but Mirella helped me get our car into the parking lot about a 5 minute walk away. From the apartment, we were able to comfortably walk around a good bit of Catania, observing lots of the preparations for the Feast of Saint Agata. Very nice.
Completely renovated in the heart of the historic center of Catania. A few steps from Teatro Massimo. Inside an old mansion, an apartment with all comfort, very quiet.
