About the property

A comfortable detached villa with private pool and free wifi.

Casa Alainda returned to the holiday rental market less than a year ago.

Set in an elevated position in the residential Las Coloradas area of Playa Blanca. only a 15 to 20 minutes walk to the beautiful Papagayo beaches, the best beaches on the island, Casa Alainda has an attractive walled garden, terraces and solar heated pool, ideal for those who prefer complete privacy.

The open plan living area provides comfortable, spacious accommodation with a corner sofa and lounge chair, TV, a selection of DVDs and free wifi. There is a dining table and chairs for 4 people

and there is also an outside eating area, shaded by a pergola, overlooking the pool and garden and facing the sunset.

The well equipped kitchen has polished stone worktops, a dish washer, a large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee makers and a tea pot. A washing machine is situated in the adjacent utility/drying room.

The master bedroom suite has a double bed, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, two chairs and built in wardrobes. The en-suite bathroom has twin basins set in a marble top. a bath with a shower above, WC and a bidet. A fan and a heater are available. Bath towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels.

The second bedroom has twin beds, a bedside cabinet and large built in wardrobes. The second bathroom is next door and has a basin set in a marble top, a bath with shower above, WC and a bidet. A fan and a heater are available.

To the rear of the villa is a large, tiled terrace providing sunbathing areas beside the pool which has a Roman end with steps providing easy access. The pool is heated using solar heat collectors on the villa roof and has a cover to conserve heat at night . Four sun loungers are provided.

A walled solarium opening off the living room provides a second outdoor area with a table and chairs and two further sun loungers.

Surrounded by high walls and totally private this is a wonderful sun trap, especially useful on windy days or late in the year and is perfect for early morning coffee

The villa has a driveway providing off street parking.

We advise hiring a car to see more of the island but you can enjoy your stay without one.

5 minutes walk will take you to a small shopping, centre with a Hyperdyno supermarket, bars, cafes, cycle hire and much more, including a taxi rank.

Our favourite restaurant, Casa Carlos is also 5 minutes walk in the other direction.

20 minutes along the water front pedestrian walk way will take you to the new Marina Rubicon with a good selection of restaurants and up-market shops.

A bus runs every 30 minutes into central Playa Blanca.

About Gina

We began holidaying in Lanzarote over 30 years ago and have returned most years ever since. The beauty of the island and its ever changing colours kept bringing us back until we decided that we must have a home here.

We had stayed in Villa Alainda, so when it came on the market we knew we had to have it.

We enjoy the villa as our holiday home but have decided to welcome guests when we can not use it ourselves.

We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we do.

Gina purchased this villa in 2017

Lovely Villa and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a week in this lovely villa. We know the area well so its location was ideal for us.Although the weather could have been kinder the benefit of the little courtyard which is off the kitchen proved to be a great suntrap.

We will definitely be back in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments, having an area where we could be out of the wind in the winter was one of the reasons we chose the villa We have been concerned that this winter's weather might make guests reluctant to return but as you know the island so well it obviously has not put you off. Hope to have you as our guests again in the future. Gina

First visit to Lanzarote

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this villa for two weeks at the end of January. We found it fitted its description; clean, well equipped with a lovely pool area in quiet and peaceful surroundings. Unfortunately we had chosen the worst two weeks of weather for 44years according to the locals so couldn’t make best use of the pool. However, the solarium enabled us to enjoy what sunshine there was, as it provided shelter from the chilly wind. We are aware that the owners have only recently purchased the property and are in the process of attending to the areas that need a bit of tlc. These issues didn’t affect our stay at all.

We took Gina s suggestion and booked a first minute transfer from and to the airport, which went very smoothly and her clear instructions allowed us to get in to the villa with no problems.

There is a small complex just a few minutes walk away that has a Hyper Dino,a few small shops, a couple of cafes and a couple of sports bar ,we particularly liked Paulo s Sports Bar . Casa Carlos is about a ten minute stroll away as is the stop for the bus to Playa Blanca . Marina Rubicon has plenty of restaurants to choose from and there are some independent shops there too. It takes around 15 minutes to walk there along the promenade ,though taxis are available from the shopping complex.

It is possible to walk along the promenade to Playa Blanca and it’s bars, restaurants and shops and we did attempt the walk to papagayo beaches but the weather was against us.

We could see the potential for great holiday in the sun and are looking forward to returning again in the near future to take full advantage of what the villa and resort have to offer

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for writing such a positive review after the fortnight of appalling weather you just endured. We were really worried about you, especially as it was your first visit to Lanzarote. As you said this weather was almost unprecedented, we have never had more than a couple of wet days at a time in 30 years of visiting the island. You certainly made an effort to get the best out of the situation. We look forward to have you as guests again. Gina

Fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely villa in a great location. The owner sent really great information on the area, and the instructions to find the Villa were amazing found it with ease in the dark! The villa has everything you could possibly need, lovely pool and extremely private. The second small seating area is great for sunny breakfast or cool shade in the afternoon. Would we return most definitely. The Matthews & Hazlewoods

Wonderful relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this villa for two weeks at the end of October 2017, this being our first stay in Lanzarote.

The villa had everything we needed and more, was in easy reach of shops, restaurants and the beach.

Chose this side of Playa Blanca for the closeness to the Papagayo beaches, as these were rated the best beaches on the island. From the villa the footpath/track is very easy to follow, but would be difficult with mobility issues or with young children in pushchairs, but we were able to walk along the whole stretch of four beaches, with the last one having a choice of bars/restaurants on the cliff top, and further beaches and coves beyond, which are again worth the walk. You can drive to the beach, but we found it close enough to walk so never bothered.

In the other direction from the villa are shops and restaurants, and past these is an easy accessible coastal path/ promonard with a 10-15 minute walk taking you to Marina rubicon, which again has lots of shops, restaurants and bars, following the path for a further 5-10minutes takes you into Playa Blanca, with all the access to further shops, restaurants and bars, as well as a beach with boating, jet skis activities etc.

The villa itself was well equipped, large selection of pots and pans for cooking, plates, glasses cups etc. Was very clean and tidy on entry and everything as stated, we had a couple of minor hiccups, but caretaker was there in a few minutes to sort out and deal with issues.

We hired a car for our second week and visited the different places of interest around the island, the roads are very easy to follow and drive on, with just one main road through the island, a visit to the Timanfaya National Park is a must, with optional camel ride, if you want to do the volcanoes walk then you need to book this 2weeks prior to your visit, on the website, but you can still just turn up for the bus tour, also the black sand at El Golfo, is worth a visit, especially the seafood restaurants, although we were a bit disappointed you can’t walk down to the sands and it is only a photo opportunity from the cliff top.

Taxis are readily available and around €5 into Playa Blanca.

We would have liked to get bicycles during our visit but for four it would have been €48 a day, so was easier and cheaper to hire a car at only €15 a day.

On the whole the situation of the villa was ideally placed and allowed us to have Days lounging and relaxing by the pool and we would recommend a stay at this villa.

Let's begin with what you will find within a few minutes walk.

Las Coloradas is a quiet area of Playa Blanca 15 minutes walk to the first of the beautiful, unspoiled, golden beaches of Papagayo. This group of beaches are recognised as the best on the island. Note that the walk will take you over dirt tracks which are unsuitable for those with limited mobility or with a pushchair, however the beaches can also be reached by car. The roads run through a national park and there is a charge for entry. Walking in is free. Even at weekends and holidays the beaches are never crowded.

For those who enjoy rock pooling there is a small, mainly rocky beach 5 minutes from the villa over paved paths.

The villa is within 5 minutes walk of a small but well stocked supermarket which can supply most of the food and sundries you may need. We can recommend the fresh meat, cheese and freshly baked bread and pastries.

In the same area, called El Pueblo there are a few shops, cafes, bars, cycle hire and a Segway tour.

5 minutes walk in another direction you will find our favourite restaurant, Casa Carlos, which serves delicious, and often innovative dishes.

There is a paved, pedestrianised coastal path, near the beginning of which can be found a company offering kyaking excursions.

A 15 to 20 minute coastal wlk along the coastal path, with beautiful views to Fuerteventura, will take you to a lively new marina, Marina Rubicon. This is interesting both during the day and in the evening , whether admiring the yachts, visiting the up market shops or eating in one of the many restaurants.

Central Playa Blanca is a 30 minute walk along the coastal path, a 15 minute bus ride or a 5 minute car journey away. There you will find all the attractions of a resort, shops, bars and restaurants and also a busy harbour and ferry terminal from where you can take a trip to Fuerteventura.

Also in Playa Blanca, should you need them, you will find pharmacies and a 24 hour emergency clinic. This is a public clinic where you will be treated for free if you have your EHIC. You will have to pay for prescriptions.

To appreciate the wide variety of colour and landscape, history, architecture and culture which Lanzarote has to offer we recommend hiring a car, but you can arrange bus tours.

Here are a few of the places not to be missed.

A short drive through lava flows and black sand beaches you will reach the village of El Golfo which has several good fish restaurants, some right by the sea.

Timanfya National Park.

Visitors can drive into the park as far as the information centre where a coach takes them through the incredible landscape while an audio in three languages explains the island's volcanic history. If you want further adventure in the park there is a camel trip available though this does not go deep into the park as the bus does..

Arreciffe, the island capital combines history of the island with shopping opportunities, but when driving beware of the one way system.

Inland towns and villages such as Teguise introduce you to the traditional way of island life including the chance to buy artisan food such as cheese, wine, jam, baked goods and much more at the weekly markets.

Turn off the main Playa Blanca to Arrecife road at Uga and drive through the centre of the island to see the unique wine producing area of the island and on to Haria, a historic town where palm tree grow in abundance.

Turn off the road near Teguise to visit the coastal village of Caleta de Famara with its golden beach and towering cliffs . The bay is a great destination for surfers.

Turn off the main road at Teguise towards Tahiche to visit the Institute Cesar Manriqie to discover not only an incredibly beautiful building and gardens but also something of the mind of the man who was probably most responsible for protecting Lanzarote from becoming just another island full of high rise hotels.

Follow the LZ1 north from Tahiche and turn off for the Jardin de Cactus, yes cactus, for a whole new insight into the joy of dry gardening and the beauty and variety of spiky plants. This is a must see for any gardener.

Keep driving north for a fresh fish lunch at the harbour in Arrieta then on to Jameos del Agua where a collapsed ancient, flooded lava tube cave has become a beautiful and tranquil auditorium , look out for the tiny, blind white crabs in the pool. Then, for those who do not mind spending time underground, visit the nearby Cueva de los Verdes to experience a guided tour through a huge lava tunnel system. The paths are paved and well lit and accessible for an averagely able person.

Drive back home along the coast road and you will find the only white sand beaches on the island.

This list is by no means complete, merely some of the things we have enjoyed experiencing ourselves. If you find anything you think we really should add please let us know.
