Great Location / Poor Owner Care

There's no doubt that the location of this flat is excellent. Less than two blocks from the Tube, across the street from Hyde Park, lots of great restaurants and pubs around, lovely neighborhood. However, we can't recommend it because it is just not being cared for. None of the things mentioned in past reviews - many from years ago - have been addressed. Peeling paint, grimy furniture, terrible mattresses, etc, etc., remain. During our stay, the instructions for dealing with a wi-fi failure were out of date, instructions for modifying heating didn't work, and, most disturbingly, the owner didn't bother to investigate the ceiling leak in the kitchen until day three of our stay, or get a plumber to fix it until day four, effectively making it impossible to use the kitchen as there was water on the stove, countertop and floor. With a minimum of effort (and expense), this place could be just wonderful, but it seems that until people stop staying there, the effort is not going to be made.

If you DO decide to stay, remember that the bathroom for bedroom number two is upstairs (up a narrow spiral staircase) and that the beds are not US sizes: the king in the master is really a US queen, and the queen in the second bedroom is really a US double.

Great Location, Slightly Worn Apartment, do not use if need arrival time flexibility!

You cannot beat the location of this apartment. However, the apartment had seen better days. The bed (As noted in other reviews) was very uncomfortable--hard, uneven and bumpy. There were miscellaneous broken items around the flat such as the coffee maker (although instant coffee was provided), the tiles in the bathroom were very broken and covered with bath mats, and the hot water heater stopped working the last day (we even had tried to flip the switches to get it to start to no avail). The sofa was also very dingy and covered with blankets.

We also had to pay 20 Pounds extra because we ran an hour late! We felt very pressured by the owner and were told that our timing was "not acceptable". We understand that VRBO's are not hotels; however we have stayed in many over the years and have never had an issue with arrival times. We like to travel by train, and will look specifically in the future for owners who are a little more accommodating.

Could use anew mattress

We enjoyed our stay in London. The upstairs bed was very uncomfortable. My daughter did fine on the downstairs bed. Plenty of room to move around. Enjoyed the neighborhood and coffee shop on the corner. Could have used a can opener, we couldn't find one. Had a little challenge figuring out the stove, but we figured it out. We are middle aged and have a hard time with mattresses. Very secure building. Thank you

Good location in an interesting part of London

Notiing Hill is a nice neighbourhood. You have an easy access to subway. You can go quickly to London attractions. The appartment is spacious with two bathroom. We had some problems with internet (Samsung tablet). Some little things should be fixed like the noisy toilet fan. Overall, it was a very good place and you should not hesitate to go there.

Great location, clean, slightly rough around the edges

Pros:

- Terrific location close to underground, grocery, shops, Hyde Park

- Quiet, safe, street. The apartment is tucked away in a safe quiet spot.

- Plenty of natural light

- Good coffee maker

- Well appointed kitchen

- Wifi works well

- Two sets of keys

- Clean

- Priyan is responsive and friendly

Cons:

- Narrow spiral staircase and no toilet on bottom floor means that whoever sleeps downstairs must navigate the staircase if they need to use the restroom in the night.

- Some maintenance issues: some broken tiles and fixtures in bathrooms, some peeling paint, no deal breakers

- Upstairs bed is pretty hard and slopes down from the edges to the middle. My wife and I took turns with one of us on the downstairs couch which was more comfortable.

- One morning the water heater didn't work. Tried the reset button but didn't get it working until I shut off the circuit breaker and turned it back on. Had to be somewhere important that morning and missed a shower. :-(

- Washer/dryer works, but if you're American, be prepared for drying to take a lot longer than what you're used to. This machine takes several hours to do what a typical US dryer could do in 30 minutes.

- Dishwaher leaves a chalky residue on everything. You may want to consider hand washing.

The cons are mostly nit-picking. We really did enjoy our stay here and would be happy to visit here again in the future.

Cleaning fees are always refunded if the guest did not check in.

For Example if check in date is Friday, Mar 11 @3pm

For a 100% refund, cancellation must be made 30 full days prior to listing’s local check in time (or 3:00 PM if not specified) on the day of check in, so up to Wed, Feb 10 @3pm

If the guest cancels less than 30 days in advance, there is no booking value refunded.

Please note If I'm able to get a booking for the dates that have been cancelled and feel the reasoning for the cancelation was genuine and or unforeseen, I will try my best to help return funds as much as possible, as I'm not looking to double book the property and make extra profit due to others misfortune and believe in karma. Please note this will be totally at my discretion thou.
