This central, charming & spacious air-conditioned second floor studio apartment is located within a charming typical & recently renovated Valenciano historic building.

Just 4 min direct walk to the city's most 'happening' adjacent barrio of international renown 'cosmo' El Carmen - especially during the nocturnal hours, within the enchanting historic city's quarters. Albeit studio's location is somewhat quieter and with its beneficial seawards - easterly orientation - enjoys welcoming inshore sea-breezes which can offer a most welcome respite after exploring the Historic city with its narrow confined & invariably during the warm summer months, airless streets.

Fully equipped American style kitchen. Separate fully enclosed bathroom with modern fitments. Delightful living area with four large fully opening windows (2 floor - ceiling) French style with full shutters.. Two with small balconies, which all have extremely pleasant outlooks, three enjoy outlooks over a charming leafy Convent's garden - allowing sunshine morning to late afternoon. Also access to semi-communal rooftop 16m2 terrace with charming inner city aspects. Full stereo system, flat screen TV, DVD etc.

Powerful 4.5 Kw reverse cycle air-conditioner for Holt & Cold modes - N.B; many similar apartments offer standard 2.5 Kw unit - ie; taking twice as long and invariably require maximum setting to have any desired effect! Particularly those with higher ceilings...

Due to high fixed (in excess of 50€ monthly)costs i.e; line rentals etc for a reliable Fibre Optic within the city, I offer the following;

3G 'roaming' 250mb daily guaranteed 4€ daily weekly 25€ - surpasses usual 100mb International roaming.

4G mega fast - minimum weekly rate 15€ 'non-roaming' - subject to availability - Monthly rates 35€ include 30 Gb of data - perfect for streaming music, business use. Surpasses conventional landline ADSL.

FREE fast reliable internet @ nearby charming Asturian terraced taverna El Bocaito - just 2-3 min.

Unrestricted on-street parking (except Tuesday 8.00-14.00 for nearby street market) in numerous surrounding side-streets - you'll find it's the closest barrio for the historic quarters especially trendy Carmen. Otherwise factor upwards of 25€ daily for city centre parking, ...once located.

All major motorway connections ie; Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante etc accessed within 10 mins via A7 & CV 35 - Using GPS.

Airport metro/tram access within 45 mins (change once) or taxi 15 min. Nearby´Sagunto' or 'Pont de Fusta' L.4, either just 2-3 min walk offering the city's best value most frequent, metro/tram direct service for fine sandy beaches. N.B There are no metro services within the historic quarters, due to fragility of medieval buildings etc. See metrovalencia for route planners/timetables and excellent value 'Bono' deals.

Maximise your stay by enjoying the best public transport, city bike hire & the city centre's keenest value supermarkets all conveniently within a 2-4 min walk.

Outdoor Pool/ Biopark etc. Great outdoor pool set in rather exclusive lush sub-tropical gardens at Club Hipica just 5/6 mins walk in Calla Jaca. Used by Valencianos in 'the know'. Entrance fee 4.50€. Young children €2. Go for the day with a picnic. Superb terraced restaurant - Kif-Kaf - overlooks....

See www.culturia.org to see some of Valencia's finest gardens and museums which you can access readily in just 4 mins via the 'rio de cultura' the 9 km impressive Turia river gardens.

Europe's largest Bio-park for over 1000 different species in a natural setting. Easily accessed by metro within 20 mins or walk/cycle through the delightful Turia river gardens either 10 mins bike or 40 mins walk.

Beaches: Malvorossa city beach & quirky charming barrio of Cabanyal. Blue Flag bathing and a broad fine sandy beach with an excellent choice of nearby restaurants/bars. Smart terraced cafes/restaurants and cocktail/tapas bars abound the Marinas. Mediterranean city living doesn't get much better with its easy accessibility. Its excellent value and with a myriad of subtle attractions etc

El Saler glorious fine sandy beach continuing onwards as far as the eye can see with duned backdrops, scented Pines and great cycle tracks weaving throughout. Fantastic for skaters/skate borders. 'Bus-it' easily from Plaza Reina for a couple of euros @ just 10 mins walk away.

Due consideration for Valencia's public transport system is a must, as it finishes surprisingly early ie; 23.30 - Why get caught out, staying somewhere in the sticks! The city´s most 'happening' all-year round nocturnal quarters of lively animated Carmen is just 4 min - otherwise it'll cost in taxis or exceedingly long sweaty slogs - particularly throughout the numerous fiestas & weekend early morning hours!

About David Shardlow

Ex' Bristol born and live nearby to the city so I'm either close to hand or a colleague is, if problem etc.

Valencia offers its visitors subtle & fascinating charms wrapped within its layers of history & culture. You'll find it incredible value compared to many Med' cities & Valencianos refeshingly helpful & friendly.

Why David Shardlow chose La Saidia

Unusually charming & quirky authentic - full external & communal renovations 2016 - Valenciano historic building built over 100 years ago. Solidly constructed and perfectly situated to enjoy the best of the city with utmost of ease. Large & tall fully opening French shuttered windows allow the light & fresh air to flood in & surprisingly for a city centre location offers charming verdant outlooks. Surrounded by trees and large paved seated areas.

What makes this apartment unique

*South east facing & set back from the road you'll enjoy lovely open aspects.

*Metro for beach, city bike hire, supermarkets all @ 2/4 min.

* Unrestricted on-street car-parking within nearby vicinity - closest proximity for Historic quarters where parking averages 25€ daily.

*Excellent 'El Bocaito', nearby Asturian terraced cafe/bar & restaurant open all day 6/7 days offering FREE Wifi - great for making Voice App calls etc.

* Charming 'La Hipica' open air pool set in delightful sub-tropical gardens with bar & silver service terraced restaurant - insiders guide to city - etc in Calle Jaca - just 5/7min walk.

If your looking for something a little bit different or have no preference for wafer thin walled hotel rooms or loathe corporate blandness then look no further....

Ideal location, well equipped and maintained, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is situated 5 minutes down the road from the main city gate so it's very easy to find your way back to.

The bed is comfortable, there's a USB port in the TV so you can plug an external hard drive in and watch stored media and the stereo has audio in.

The kitchen has everything you need, and there's a lidl 5 minutes up the road for stocking up. Wine was about €2 a bottle.

My 6'2'' tall boyfriend found the shower cubicle a bit small but the water pressure is good.

Nearby to the apartment are a creperie, a bakery, a couple of cafes to get breakfast from, a shop that sells amazing cakes and fruit tarts, it's not a cake shop, I can't remember what else they sold because I was mesmerised by the cakes.....not all the local shopkeepers could speak English...

There's a local tapas restaurant called El Bocaito that does fantastic food. We had a salad with what the waiter described as little river snakes. No idea what they were but they tasted great, as did the rest of the food.

If you head away from town, take the first main right turn onto the palm tree lined road and it's about 100 yards down on the opposite side of the road.

The aquarium Oceanographic is worth a visit although there's not much change from €30 for an adult. We walked there from the apartment through the park that has been created in the old path of the river. The river was diverted some years ago as it kept flooding the city.

The tram stop for the beach is 5 minutes walk north, a return ticket was €5. The ticket machine is quite confusing and you can only pay by card.

The beach was nice, lots of it with sunbeds to hire and kiosks selling drinks. There are bars and restaurants towards the dock.

Valencia old town is beautiful, the majority of the shops and restaurants are, or seem to be independently owned, no homogenous we could be anywhere shops. There's a big shopping area with chain stores down past the train station.

I'd definitely recommend Valencia and this apartment

Owner's Response: Dear Guest. Many thanks for your summary of all that's best both nearby & direct short metro rides away. Actually the bono rate zone A is cracking value for 10 rides (to beach) for just over 8 euros. The languages prompt facility (English, Spanish, Valenciano etc) normally assists in making sure you get the best deal, see metrovalencia page for route planner & fares, although I have to agree sometimes they suddenly bombard you with too much info' which can be a bit confusing. There are lots of chill-out bars chirinquitos both on Malverossa beach & onto Patacona beach which serve up delicious drinks etc with Ibizan sounds. Nearby for watersports enthusiasts surfing/paddle boarding & kite surfing hire & tuition are also now available at modest rates. I'm really pleased to hear you both had a great holiday. Best David.

Great location- Nicely Appointed

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is located just a few minutes from one of the Medieval Gates to the old city. Near two supermarkets, multiple green grocers and bakeries. Restaurants are further but when actually open, not too far. Many of the attractions are within easy walking distance. Dave is helpful and easy to deal with. Only minus is the stairway is narrow and twisty.

Owner's Response: Thanks Patrick for your kind commendations. Mondays many bars & restaurants invariably take a break from the busy weekends, so it can be a little confusing as to their exact location, particularly when they've dropped all their shutters. The nearby excellent value & convenient Lidl was unfortunately closed during your stay, as they are expanding & modernising - re-opens 27 Jan 2016. The communal hallway is currently undergoing major reforms i.e; replacement stone steps & new windows; as is the entire building's exterior, which should further improve future guests comforts. The building will retain most of its quirky features which really is part of its charm...

such a good surprise

We will keep a real good memory of our days in Valencia, because of that town and because of this Charming useful rent!

We have found everything we needed in that David's studio, and some things more...( beach chairs, Portable modem...). David thinks of everything with kindness.

And that studio is very well placed in the town...

If we go in Valencia, and we hope we will, we know where we will stay...

Would stay again

  • 4 of 5

Spacious and well presented, in a good location.

The flat was well equipped with kitchen ware, towels, blankets, storage etc. It's a nice environment to spend some time in. The building is quite quiet, just a bit of traffic noise or people waking by etc while I was there in spring.

As other reviewers noted, the old stairs in the building can be a bit tricky to negotiate, especially with your suitcase or shopping etc.

Location is great, I hardly bothered with public transport although that was good when I used it.

Owner's Response: Dear Guests. Sorry another belated response! As I thought I had replied but on checking, I hadn't! However I can happily respond now to your comments about the rickety stonework on the stairwell as I have posted new photos to show the recently transformed 2016 hallway with the granite stairwell etc. Your absolutely spot-on about location; you can walk anywhere central within minutes.. Best David
