About Gabriella Zielke

Welcome to our second home! It’s a very special place and we hope you’ll love it as much as we do. My husband and I both spent part of our childhoods in Mexico. He grew up in Mexico City and other parts of central and South America. I went back and forth to a small town outside of Monterrey. My last time to live here full time was 1992, and he moved in 1996. It’s great to be back, even if only a few weeks or months of the year.

We now hail from Dallas, Texas. Mexicans love the Cowboys, so our home city is very recognizable and an easy conversation starter. Bucerias is a favorite destination for a lot of snowbirds from Canada. English is widely spoken here and it’s always 5 o’clock.

Our search for a second home began before we married each other. He and I had both been looking for beachfront property when we met, thinking we would rent something for weekend getaways. It's fun to do this together!

Why Gabriella Zielke chose Bucerías

We chose Bucerias because there are 4 direct flights daily from DFW, and depending on winds, it's 2-3 hours. So it's perfect for a long weekend whenever we feel like it.

I was adamant that there be good kiteboarding and it be right on the water. We also wanted inland activities, so the Sierra Madres and jungle are perfect. Plus we wanted more of a Mexico feel than concrete and tourism. Bucerias is the best of both worlds. Plenty to do, but not as commercial as Puerto Vallarta. You get to know everyone quickly and they're all very friendly and helpful.

Peter wanted air conditioning. Turns out it's very expensive here, so please be kind when using it. Keep the doors closed and turn it off when you're not inside.

What makes this condo unique

The views are what really made our penthouse standout. The terraces wrap around, giving views of the entire bay, Puerto Vallarta, and mountain ranges on both sides. The patio doors open all the way up so it's like having an additional living and dining room with nice cool breezes.

This condo property and the management of it have gone downhill since we stayed here in 2017.

The main shower has black mold on the ceiling, the Master shower ceiling paint is peeling off, the outdoor umbrella is broken and useless, and the stainless balcony rails are stained and rusting. When we arrived our first day, at 4:30 pm, after a long and hot travel day, the unit had not been cleaned or serviced from the last guest. The beds sheets were unclean, there were dirty floors, and trash was not picked up. We called the property manager, but got no answer. A neighbor was contacted, and they got their house cleaner to send over 2 people to clean and service the unit, with this owner’s permission. Then the local property manager showed up with several cleaners, and tried to send the first cleaner’s home without paying them (very unprofessional). Eventually the other cleaners were paid, and the unit was serviced after about 3 hours.

When we came back to the unit after service, there was no bath or face soap, and no spare toilet paper. There were wet sheets left in the dryer, and the dryer unit was missing the knob to be able to dry them or anything. The local property manager said he would bring the dryer knob the next day, but did not bring it for 3 days, so we could not dry towels or swim suits.

Then after 2 days stay, the electricity went out in the unit. We were informed that the power company had turned off the power and removed the meter, because the owner had not paid the bill for the second time. Some other condo owners came over to tell us how sorry they were that this all was happening, since they also knew about there was no cleaning when we got there. This was on a hot Friday afternoon, so we had no air conditioning, and did not know if we were going to have to leave the property or what. We were not sure if the electric company would be able to do anything until Monday. We started calling around to other hotels, to see if we could book a room for that night or the weekend. After calls to the owner in the US, and the local property manager, we finally got power back in about 4 hours.

I also emailed to the local manager to see if we could have another cleaning on Tuesday of the next week, and how much would that cost. Tuesday came and went and I never heard from him.

The owner did give us 1 day credit. But we suggest you pick another unit.

Stunning View in a Perfect Location

Perfect location. Gorgeous view and outdoor space. The building is very nicely maintained. The pool is fabulous. Staff were very pleasant. We would definitely rent this condo again!

Stunning views!

WOW is all I can say about the views from this condo! Pics don't do it justice. Condo is beautiful and very central. Easy walk to everything in town. Beach is gorgreous, condo is well stocked. Would stay again!

Absolutely Stunning

This condo was the perfect place to land, it was easy to find, as close to the sand as possible, walking distance to shopping, food and anything we wanted. The beds were comfortable and the AC was cold. Everything was fresh, clean and convenient. We loved the time here, the only part I disliked was leaving!
