Overview

About the property

6 bed/4 bath across from Dollywood 3500+ sf close to everything.

Previous renters, Wanda and her family, said that we have underplayed the cabin online and that it is even more beautiful in person than it shows in pictures. I agree, but I thought I was just biased :-) We LOVE our cabin and we decorated it and set it up just as we wanted for our Home Away From Home and that is what we want it to be for everyone who rents it, your own Home Away From Home where just about everything is provided for you and you will want to stay longer than your rental time so that you can get in just one more day of relaxing and/or playing. I have been on vacations where I need a vacation after the vacation, but even though (so far) every trip we have made to our cabin has been to decorate and fix it up, we have loved every minute of it and have not come away exhausted, but somehow relaxed and enjoying the entire trip. We hope that you come to love our cabin the way that we do and others who have already rented it. In the words of Wanda "We don't want to leave." When I told her that they could go back soon, she said that she meant that they did not want to leave the cabin to go anywhere or do anything because everything that they wanted was in the cabin.

6 bedrooms all in different themes: Wilderness Retreat (queen size bed), Bear Cub Den (2 bunk beds that sleep 6 children), Moose Lodge (master bedroom), Duck & Turtle Pond (full size bed, door leads to balcony and hot tub), Deer Run (queen size bed) & Horse Stable (full size bed). Recreation room in basement with a pool table, board games and microwave for popping pop corn and warming up hot chocolate for the kids. Upstairs in the Foxes Den is a 'movie room' with a sectional couch, large TV and DVD player, and many movies to choose from. 1 of 4 bathrooms has a large Jacuzzi tub. Sleeps 16 comfortably. Large fully equipped kitchen with all necessities (small appliances, pantry, all silverware, plates, cups, travel mugs, coffee & tea items, spices and much more). Front wrap around balcony and back balcony (with hot tub) to relax on while enjoying the beautiful weather. WIFI and cable are both included.

About Kathryn & Wendell Tanner

Wendell and I (Kathryn) have been married since July 2011. Together, we have 5 children ranging in age from 13-23. We both grew up in Slidell, Louisiana, but never met until 2009 when I moved back from Indonesia (where I was teaching). We both lived in Guam at the same time, but never met there either. I am a Special Ed Preschool teacher and Wendell now remodels houses.

Kathryn & Wendell Tanner purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Kathryn & Wendell Tanner chose Pigeon Forge

Our cabin is a 2nd home to us and we want it to be a 2nd home to you while you are there. We have tried to set it up with every convenience to make it a home away from home where you can come and just put up your feet and relax. We are located very close to everything while having a place that is secluded so that you don't feel claustrophobic by cabin after cabin surrounding you.

What makes this cabin unique

6 themed rooms for the entire family to enjoy. Situated right across the street from Dollywood and Dollywood Splash Mountain - within walking distance. Our cabin is 5 minutes from the main road in Pigeon Forge, about 10-15 minutes from Gatlinburg, 30 minutes from Cades Cove and nearby to other beautiful places to go hiking and enjoy nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family loved your cabin. We had a great time and enjoyed playing cards around the table. It is very spacious and close to everything. I would recommend it for a big family. And the price is great.

Not Disappointed

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our group, loved the size of kitchen and the way everything was labeled. The house was decorated nicely and the furniture was so nice. Everyone had there on spot. Plenty of parking space and the the driveway is steep but if you put it in low gear it goes right up no problem. I heard it more than once while we were there " can`t believe how much room is upstairs". Kathryn is great to work with and always get back to you quickly. I don`t have any complaints. Was glad to get to meet the Tanners while we were there. Location was great for our kids, quick drive to all the places they wanted to go. Thank you from the Thompsons, McCaskills and Hinsons

Owner's Response: Nancy, We LOVED being able to have your family stay at Tanner Manor Lodge. It was great to meet everyone that day we were up there. I love how you took care of our cabin as if it were your own. It sounds like your family had a lot of fun while there and at the same time, that you got to relax for a while too. Can't wait to have you visit again - or take a trip to our new cabin - The Vieux - with your husband for a nice weekend getaway :-) VRBO 1148035 Blessings, Kathryn & Wendell

Fantastic Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was nice and clean and had plenty of amenities to accommodate our party of 11 (including a 2 month old and 2 year old). The bunk beds were a huge hit with the 2 year old and the rest of family found the four bathrooms and nice bedrooms to be fantastic. The large, well-labeled kitchen made things easy to find and the dishwasher and vast amounts of readily available dishes, cookware, and silverware made meal time a breeze. The hot tub was nice as well. Finally, the owners are amazingly responsive (answered a VRBO message with a phone call at 11 PM!) and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

P.S. The cabin is literally 3 minutes from Dollywood's waterpark and only 30 minutes from pretty much anything else you can think of doing ;)

Owner's Response: Dear Jeremy, Your family was great! Thanks for the call to find out how to work the hot tub - I'd rather a call late at night than a broken hot tub any day. We love our home away from home and the first time we were in the kitchen I was so confused with all the cabinets (20+) that I opened up all of the doors and would just look around and figure out where things went. I figured if I had that many problems with it then I had to do something so that others would find it easy to navigate - hence the labeling of the cabinets. Oh, just for others who read this review, we are not 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge, just about 5, but within about 30 minutes you can get to the National Parks, Cade's Cove, Gatlinburg, etc. If you come back with a small group sometime, we also have a new cabin in the family. It's called Winter Vieux and we just remodeled the entire cabin last week and it sleeps 6. The number is 1389702. Our other one, Bear Necessities sleeps 9 adults and 2 children and is #1148035. good vacation

  • 5 of 5

Very neat and clean. The kitchen was well stocked. I loved the porch. The air conditioner repair was taken care of pretty quickly. My only concern was the downstairs bedroom. We had a short, fat, crippled woman who could not get in the bed, so we had to buy a stool to get her in the bed and the shower. But, other than that, everything was great. We would certainly rent again and bring our stool.

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you enjoyed your vacation at our cabin. I am sorry about the problem with the bed you are the 1st one who has had that issue. I wish that you had let me know and we would have reimbursed you for the stool as a new item for the cabin. If you come back with a small group sometime, we also have a new cabin in the family. Three generation family celebration

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for the 10 of us celebrating a 50th Anniversary. There was enough room for everyone to sit around the table for meals, the kitchen was big, well stocked with all sorts of spices, sugar, coffee, tea and every one of the cabinets and drawers marked as to what was inside. The bedrooms and baths were well decorated and comfortable. The bunk room for had two bunk beds but they were double bed size. The younger generation enjoyed some DVDs in the movie room and spent some time playing pool in the game room. The older ones enjoyed the porch and swing. The living room sofas include recliners that would be perfectly comfortable as beds. It isn’t walking distance for me, but we were very close to both Dollywood and Dollywood Splash Park. The Old Mill and The Island we only about 15 minute drive. Katheryn was very easy to work with and answered our questions in a very timely manner. Given another family outing, we would gladly return.

Wonderful place for a family reunion!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay! There was enough room for our entire family of children and grandchildren. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks to work in it at the same time! And the decor provided lots of fun as we played "I spy" by counting all the bears in the decor throughout the rooms downstairs. Such fun! The surrounding woods provided an abundance of privacy and quiet even though the Lodge was only a couple of miles from Dollywood. While the driveway is steep, we did not have a problem navigating it and found parking our five cars was not a problem. The Tanners were thoughtful, pleasant, and answered all our questions within a short amount of time. We are glad we were all able to be together for a few days and thankful the Tanner Mannor Lodge provided for our needs.

Great location with at home charm!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Tanner Manor. Once there, we wanted to stay in rather than go out. The house was stocked with everything you need to feel like you are at your own home. The cabin is in an ideal location. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Our cabin is located almost directly across from Dollywood and Splash Country. It is close enough to the main area of Pigeon Forge to be there in about 5 minutes and yet once you get to the cabin, you feel like you are in a private, secluded area. You can go the back way to The Island to avoid the traffic and be there in 5 minutes. Start your morning with a delicious and easily affordable breakfast at Lil Black Bear Café where everything is made fresh by Mr. Lynn Sherrod. From there, travel to Cades Cove - an easy 30 minute drive from the cabin (on the way, stop by Valley Bake Shoppe and Café and pick up a picnic basket filled with your choice of foods to make an easy, relaxing and enjoyable day in Cades Cove) and there are other National Parks within 30 minutes as well. You will not be disappointed with the amount and variety of activities that you can experience during your visit and it will leave you planning your next trip back to experience more.
