This converted farmhouse, located in a small hamlet between the towns of Duras and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, enjoys beautiful, unobstructed views over the rolling hills of the surrounding Cote de Duras Vineyards and farmlands. The house enjoys a private pool, with wooden deck and is set in c.1 acre of lawn garden. Outside space is dominated by a large covered terrace of old beams over a wooden deck.
The interior living space consists of a large open-plan dining, kitchen and seating area ensuring social mix for all the visitors. Sleeping accommodation consists of a large master bedroom on the ground floor featuring exposed beams, with ensuite bathroom. The first floor has three bright double bedrooms, a bathroom and separate w.c. Overall the house is simple and unpretentious, but comfortable and aims to reflect its traditional origins.
The nearby village is a 10 minute walk (1k) and has a small, well reviewed restaurant and a grocery shop which also offers coffee, tea and snacks. The larger, nearby towns of Duras and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande – on the Dordogne River – offer a good, midsized supermarket and a hypermarket respectively along with the usual selection of bakeries, shops, restaurants and weekly markets. Night markets are popular in the surrounding towns and villages during the summer months.
There are loads of activities in the area to suit everybody – from canoeing on the Dordogne, hot air ballooning based nearby, Chateau Vigier is a nearby golf resort and hotel. Many Chateaus are in easy driving distance and of course we are surrounded by vineyards where you can visit for tastings.
