Two 2 bedroom romantic riverside Apartments

Bishops Rest is an elegant residence consisting of two charming apartments, each with private entrance, it is situated just 3km from the town of Porrentruy, which was for over 200 years the seat of the Prince Bishops of Basel. The area is rich in history and is one of Switzerland's best-kept secrets.

The charming interior reflects the passion of a collector of bric-a-brac much of which is on display for your use and pleasure. The rooms are light and airy and decorated in the French country style.The living room has cable television including English language channels and Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The kitchens are fully equipped.

Within the huge gardens, you will find unique rock formations and even a cave. there are apple trees and plum trees, a formal rose garden and of course the riverfront where you can enjoy a swim or just relax with a glass of local wine or a book. You are bound to find your special corner.

Bishop's rest can be let as one or two units.

Apartment 1 is on the ground floor and has 2 bedrooms, double beds, each with own bathroom/WC.

Apartment 2 is on the first floor it has an external staircase and has 2 bedrooms, with 2 single beds and one with a double bed.

The area is ideal for just relaxing, for hiking, biking, swimming.There are limestone caves in the area and a beautiful Golf course is just a 30mins drive from the house.

The city of Basel is a 58min train trip away and the house is only 200 meters from the station.

The French border is very close, the towns of Belfort and Montbelliard just 30mins. away. The monthly Antique / Flea-Market in Belfort is the biggest and best in the region, it is always on the first Sunday of the Month.

Beautiful, tasteful apartment on the river front

We have now stayed a few times at Bishops Rest & it gets better each time. The antiques, collectibles & stylish interior set this apartment apart. It's not surprising the owner was a well known Basel interior designer. The beautiful riverfront garden creates a peaceful haven in a charming Swiss village. We hope to return again next year. Highly recommended.

Erholsamer Aufenthalt als 4köpfige Familie

Sehr wohnlich eingerichtetes Appartement mit vielen Dekoelementen, sanft renoviertes Haus und Möbel: ein Hingucker! Gute Matratzen, gut eingerichtete Küche, mit allem was man braucht, wenn man selbst kochen möchte, sonst ist es bei Patrick erhältlich. Sehr idyllische Lage, Auto empfehlenswert. Schöne Spaziergänge direkt ab Haus. Für Sportliche ganz toll mit dem Velo. Super Ausgangslage, um den Jura zu erkunden und man abends trotzdem seine Ruhe haben möchte. Erfrischendes Bad im Flüsschen direkt beim Haus (nur für gute Schwimmer). Sehr angenehme und hilfsbereite Betreuung, können es nur weiterempfehlen. Einzig ein gedeckter Sitzplatz hat uns gefehlt, da es bei uns leider oft geregnet hat. Fam. Schlegel, Grabs

A charming, comfortable and inspirational oasis

From the moment we arrived at Bishop's Rest, it was everything and more than we expected. Patrick had waited to welcome us and show us around our accommodation which was very comfortable, clean and well presented with bags of character and style. The extensive gardens run down to and alongside a river which is not only visually stunning but simply a beautiful place to sit and read and relax. A dip in the river was sufficiently reviving to enable us to dance in the evening at an excellent local music event. Patrick recommended we ate at the Buffet de la Gare in Porrentruy which we did and the food was very good indeed. We would definitely recommend Bishop's Rest to family and friends. Actually, the whole property could be reserved for friendly gatherings. The train stops at Courchavon which is only a short walk away. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

lovely place

What a wonderful place to stay! Photos alone don't tell the whole story of how special this home is! We (Two adults and one dog) arrive the apartment and a bottle of wine was waiting for us and of course water in the fridge. Thanks for that Patrick. The apartment is extremetely clean and confortable wíth all you need after a long day to feel like to be at home. The house and outdoor area are a perfect way to relax and enjoy the little river. Thank you again for everything!

Wonderful, relaxing holiday in the lovely Ajoie

We spent a very enjoyable 10 days at Bishop's Rest at the end of July. Patrick is a charming, helpful and considerate host. The ground floor apartment is clean, well-furnished and equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay.

It is an ideal location for walkers with a network of well signposted walking trails starting 50 metres from the house. The proximity of a train station with a regular hourly service allows easy access to many destinations in north west Switzerland. Ideal for those wishing to leave the car at "home".

Bishop's Rest is a great place to relax and "recharge the batteries" and a place where Monty(the black and white Springer Spaniel) and I hope to return in the near future.

A great -stay!

Wir fühlten uns superwohl in Bishop's Rest. Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und hat alles, was einem die Ferien geniessen lässt. Die Umgebung ist wunderbar. Wir genossen die vielen Sitzplätze am Fluss, am Haus, unter dem Felsen. Besonders gefallen hat uns das Baden im kleinen Flüsschen Allaine, die Nähe zu Frankreich, die Möglichkeiten für Bike-Touren und Wandern. Patrick ist ein sehr liebevoller Gastgeber. Also: Jederzeit wieder!

Located just 3km from the historic medieval city of Porrentruy in the canton of Jura, this riverside property has 8'000 square meters of gardens and fields with intriguing rock formations there is even a cave, making it the perfect setting for exploring this part of Switzerland or for just relaxing in the region known as the Ajoie, for insiders this region is one of Switzerland's best kept secrets.

It is the ideal setting for outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding. There is also an excellent golf course nearby.

The limestone caves and the traces left by dinosaurs in this region are well worth a visit.

The city of Basel is within easy reach it is great for shopping and is packed with museums, world famous art galleries and many different restaurants.

The French border is just 20min away with antique shops and markets in abundance, not to mention the the various vineyards.
