This second floor apartment was re-furbished in 2011 to provide comfortable and smart accommodation for 4 to 8 people. Overlooking Lake Geneva, the views from the two balconies are spectacular. The apartment has an open plan kitchen/ diner/ lounge with balcony. The apartment is light and bright, with views from every room. The kitchen has an oven, induction hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, dish washer and washer dryer, and is fully equipped. There is a dining table which can seat 8. There is a large 3 seater sofa (convertible) in the lounge, with TV/ DVD. The main bedroom has a large double bed and has its own balcony. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a comfortable sofa bed. Both bedrooms have ample storage. The bathroom has a large walk in shower with rain shower head and a hand held shower, large basin and cabinet. There is a separate WC. Access is via a lift or stairs.The apartment is only 30m from the cable car, and is only a short walk from all of the village amenities.
Thollon - village amenities: The apartment is located in 'Station', so called because of the access to the ski runs via the Télécabine (cable car). There are only a couple of hamlets beyond Station, so there is very little through traffic. Thollon offers peace and quiet in abundance, while there is still plenty to do. However, the village can be very lively in the Ski season during the Christmas, New Year and half term holidays, when there are many activities organised by the community. Station has several restaurants and bars, a mini-supermarket selling bread and fresh food, several ski hire shops, a cinema (open during the holidays), the tourist office, a gift shop and a launderette. Just a short walk or drive to Le Nouy, you will find a traditional bakery, cash point, cheese shop and another mini-market selling international newspapers. A little further on is Chef-lieu, where the post office, Mairie, library, school and church are located. There are tennis courts and a pétanque club here too.
The great outdoors: Thollon is surrounded by beautiful scenery and there is plenty to do all year round. There are many walks for all abilities, straight from the apartment. The Tourist Office produces a local map. For one of the best views of Lake Geneva, take the cable car and walk 20 min to the Pic des Mémises. Paragliding is popular in Thollon, and the conditions are ideal. There are many options for swimming; a short drive from the village is the Plage de la Beunaz, a natural lake with slides and diving boards. 15 min by car / bus is the Olympic sized pool in Evian. Thonon-les-Bains, approx. 30 min drive, also has a lido. Both towns have Spas. The lake itself offers endless free swimming opportunities: Meillerie, Amphion, Publier, Anthy and Excenevex, where there is a 3km shallow, sandy beach. Sailing, paddling and motor boats can be hired. There are several passenger boats. Other options include rafting, horse riding, fishing, tennis, mountain bikes, climbing. Ask at the Tourist Office for info.
Surrounding areas - attractions: Where to start! Nearby towns in France that are well worth a visit: Evian (very chic, casino, art gallery, concert halls, gardens, esplanade, funicular, Spas / Thermal baths (municipal and Hilton), boat trips) ; Thonon (very pretty harbour, funicular, museums, thermal spa, shopping, boat trips); Meillerie (pretty fishing village, swimming, harbour); Yvoire (medieval fortified village, gardens). There are many local vineyards - arrange a guided tour at the Château Ripaille. Travel into the High Alps where many cable cars and funiculars are open in the Summer or visit ancient monasteries; Morzine, Chatel, Abondance, St Jean D'Aulps - all within 1 hr drive. The apartment is only 12km from the Swiss border at St.Gingolph. Catch the lake steamer here to Montreux, Vevey and Lausanne or visit the Château de Chillon. Also, catch the ferry from either Thonon or Evian to Lausanne - great shops and museums. A little further afield are Chamonix, Annecy, Gstaad, Sion. You won't be bored.
We fell in love with the view, then the layout of the property. It has such a cosy feel, and for a ski apartment, the bedrooms are a good size. The big picture windows at the front mean that wherever you are, you can always catch a glimpse of the view. We can also walk to everything in the village easily, and get onto some breathtaking walks in just a few minutes.
We never tire of the view. To see so much of such a beautiful landscape is simply awe-inspiring. And it changes every day, and every season. We have sat on the balcony all evening and watched dramatic summer thunder storms far away in Switzerland, lighting up the mountains. Some days we can see up to 30-40 miles away. In the Winter you can watch snow storms coming in from far away. At night, you get a sense of the scale of the lake, with all the twinkling lights below. It is food for the soul, and we feel re-connected with nature whenever we are here. We have fallen for Thollon hook, line and sinker! It offers the perfect mix of mountains and lake, with snow in the winter and sunshine and warmth in the summer.
The apartment is very well located, with excellent views over the lake and towards Switzerland. The facilities and equipment within the apartment are brilliant, with just about everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It is also nice to go to an apartment where the cupboards are not completely emptied before you arrive, as you often get with agency bookings. There was olive oil in the cupboard, sugar in the jar and some washing up liquid (but you should always replace what you use).
The area is quiet enough for young families, with plenty to do during the day and low key entertainment of an evening. When we went, the pound was post Brexit vote weak, which meant the restaurants were even more expensive than usual.
Going up in the telecabin is a must, for some of the most wonderful views in the world, and the freshest air. We expected it to be cool at the peak, but we were in short sleeves and shorts worrying about sunburn. We enjoyed a day at Indian Adventures, Plage de la Beunaz, which although expensive, was fun. They could do with fixing some of the equipment though.
We watched the fireworks in Switzerland from the balcony, on the Swiss National Day. Great to see from the elevated position, and it made up for the hour spent in traffic heading to the beach in St Gingolph due to that particular day's border control.
Thollon is lovely. They had a couple of evenings of entertainment on at the local green while we were there. The band sounded quite good, but I was not sure about the Arab costumes being worn in a couple of the songs. However, not speaking the language proficiently meant I could not tell what the lyrics were..
I would wholeheartedly recommend this area and particularly this apartment to anyone. The owners are great, with excellent communication. You can tell they care about the place and it is set up for their family use, not just a business.

We spent a week during the summer in this lovely apartment in a beautiful setting. Views over lake Geneva awesome. Sitting on the balcony having our breakfast. A perfect property for a holiday. Wonderfully equipped for all our needs a real home from home. All the touches much appreciated a very well equipped property with all you could need. We all loved the fleece blankets to snuggle with and extra touches down to small items such as tissues in the bedrooms. Myself, Peter and our children age 16 and 10 loved it and hope to return one day. Many many thanks Liz xxx

Nous n'avons pas eu de chance avec le temps (tempête et remontées fermées pendant deux jours) et c'est là qu'on apprecie encore plus d'être bien logé.
We had a great stay here between Christmas and New Year (2 adults, 2 teenagers). The apartment was beautifully presented, very comfortable and had ample storage space. It was also extremely well equipped - there was not a single thing that we needed which had not been provided. There are also lovely views from the balcony over Lake Geneva.
The apartment is located in a block very close to the telecabine which takes you to the top of the mountain. The ski resort of Thollon les Memises is small and family-orientated. It's ideal for beginners/ intermediate ski-ers, but there are also some more challenging runs. The village itself has all the amenities you need and the beautiful town of Evian is only about 20 mins away .
We have also stayed in Thollon les Memises during the summer, and can vouch that it is a great location from which to have a holiday .
We will certainly be returning to this apartment on our future visits !

Thollon-les-Mémises is a collection of pretty Savoyard hamlets and villages located in the Pays de Gavot, a plateau overlooking Lake Geneva- Lac Léman, just above Evian. Situated at around 1000m, Thollon offers spectacular views over the Lake and to Switzerland beyond. It is perfectly positioned to take advantage of both lake and mountain. The Télécabine (Gondola cable car) takes you up to the Mémises mountains behind the village, and is open throughout the ski season (Dec-March) and also in July-August, and at weekends in June and September. In the summer, there are walks for all abilities, or simply enjoy the views and some lunch on the terrace at 'Le Repaire de l'Aigle'. In the winter, Thollon is a well-managed, family friendly ski resort with 50km of runs, ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers. Staff at the tourist office are always on hand to offer help, and organise many activities throughout the year. The village has several shops and restaurants to ensure a relaxing stay.

Golf: Only a 10-15 minute drive from Thollon, the course at the Evian Masters Golf Club is in a wooded park of 60 hectares, overlooking Lake Geneva. It is a challenging 18 hole, 72 par course. Every July, the club hosts the Evian Masters Ladies' tournament, which brings together the 90 best players in the world. Numerous packages for golfers are available. Why not combine a round of golf with lunch or a spa treatment at one of the two associated luxury hotels, the Hôtel Royal or the Hôtel Ermitage.
Ski: Just a stones throw from the apartment, the cable car takes you up to the ski resort. There are approximately 50km of runs, mostly north facing, between 1000-2000m altitude (16 pistes: 9 red; 4 blue; 2 green and a 6km cross country ski track). There are also tracks for snow shoe walks. 2010/11 saw a substantial investment in the new snow park with a half-pipe for snowboarders. The resort is very well-managed, and has many snow machines to ensure good coverage on the main pistes throughout the season. The resort is served by 3 chair lifts and 11 ski lifts. With the ski school (ESF) in the village, the resort is ideal for beginners and intermediates, and is particularly good for families, with lessons for 4 years and up. There is also a crèche in the village. There are several good ski hire shops. The town organises many events and activities, especially during the school holidays. The Portes du Soleil (Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel) with 650km of runs, is only a 45-50 minute drive away.
