Villa on the lake
We spent a week at the Villa sul Lago. It is just as advertised -- lots of outdoor space for running around or relaxing, views of rolling countryside on one side and the lake and village on the other side. The interior of the house is spacious and comfortable, and everything worked well, including a/c, internet, kitchen appliances, etc. VIncenzo is very helpful and responsive.
The place offers a nice mix of seclusion and accessibility to Rome and the surrounding towns. For the latter, it's definitely advisable to rent a car, as there are a lot of interesting sites that are not otherwise reachable -- Cerveteri and Sutri are great for taking in Etruscan ruins, and Trevignano Romano is also a very pleasant little town. To get to Rome, it's best to drive to the train station in Anguillara and then catch a train to the city center. There are about 2 trains per hour and they are quite cheap (~8 Euros total each way for 2 adults and 2 kids). It is possible to walk to the nearby town for groceries, restaurants, etc. in about 15-20 minutes, but the road is narrow and twisty so probably not advisable at night or with children.
The lake is quite beautiful and quiet. The private beach can be accessed by walking down the hill and crossing the street.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay -highly recommended.
