About Mandy Minto

My husband Dave and I love Derbyshire and have finally realised a long term dream by buying this holiday cottage. We love walking the hills, enjoying nature and relaxing in this idyllic setting.

Why Mandy Minto chose Winster

Hefford House is a beautiful 19th century cottage with stone walls more than a metre thick! The kitchen/diner/utility makes it spacious and light in comparison with other cottages. We love the uneven wall surfaces and comforting log burner. The roof terrace is a bonus- at the end of the day this natural sun trap is perfect for a sun downer.

What makes this cottage unique

Situated in the charming village of Winster allows us to walk from the front door and enjoy a wide variety of lovely walks in the White Peak. A short car drive allows us to explore other areas of Derbyshire. The village has a thriving shop where you can buy all that you need, The pub is friendly and serves good food. We feel part of the community already.

Location

Car: recommended

The best way to get to Winster is from the A6 Matlock to Buxton road. In Darley Dale take the B5057 and follow the road for 3 miles to Winster. In the centre of the village look out for the Village Shop and Post Office on your right. Hefford House is a further 100m on you left (just past the phone box on the left and bus stop on the right). It is the end terrace cottage with a blue door.

Charming & cosy

  • 5 of 5

We have had a most enjoyable stay at Hefford House, a charming cottage with everything you need. A beautiful area, quiet village with several walks to choose from.

This was the perfect location for us as we attended Chatsworth Country Fair, 20 minutes away by car. Would love to stay here again!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

House exactly as presented (actually, it was even better - the beds are comfortable with very nice linens and fluffy towels!). Winster is adorable - we loved exploring the town - and it was the perfect base for a short holiday in the Peaks District. Highly recommended!

Last minute holiday

  • 4 of 5

Hefford house was the ideal base for our 3 day stay in the Peak District with our 7 month old daughter. After some initial niggles with the wi fi, oven & shower, we found the cottage to be clean & comfortable.
