The Chapel. A large grade 2 listed property, perfect for families and groups.

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

Semi-rural, self-catering holiday property, close to the sea with lots to do.

The Chapel is a large 3 bedroom self-catering holiday property, situated on the edge of a coastal village, and within 4 miles of lots of award winning sandy beaches. The property can sleep up to 10 guest in its 3 bedrooms, with the addition of two portable beds and a leather chesterfield bed settee.

On the ground floor of The Chapel, the 40 foot lounge houses a full size American pool table, a large television with free view, 4 comfortable sofas' and a baby grand piano. There is also a Wii, an Xbox 360 and several board games for guests to use.

A beautiful walnut staircase leads up to a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room, which was designed for families and entertaining. The 6-foot oak dining table seats up to 12 guests, and with a very sociable breakfast bar the cook doesn't get left out of the fun, making hosting any occasion a pleasure. Full length windows overlooking the secluded gardens and entrance, a chandelier and subdued lighting under the units, create a perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening.

The utility room off of the kitchen has an additional fridge, a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, and of course another toilet (you can't have too many of those!)

The master bedroom is on the first floor. It has a high ceiling, chandelier, a king size four poster bed and sumptuous burgundy carpet. Full sized patio windows overlook the secluded front courtyard and garden, and reclaimed 8 foot doors lead into a characterful well equipped en suite. The room oozes romance and luxury.

However, occasionally you do have to bring the family, who won't be disappointed with the two further double bedrooms on the second floor. Both have high ceilings, exposed beams, flint walls and windows with far reaching views.

All bedrooms are fully equipped and have their own en suite. They also each have a television with free view and inbuilt DVD player, and also a hair dryer. And both top floor bedrooms also have a very comfortable 6-foot zip link bed with a mattress topper, so you should sleep like a baby! Alternatively, they can be divided into two single 3 foot beds for when friends or children are sharing.

To the rear of The Chapel is a private secluded garden, containing a specially created dining alcove in flint, stone and brick. In the summer it catches the afternoon sun and is perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal or barbecue, or just chilling.

And for the younger visitors who need to let off a little steam, there is a private hard surface play area with a basketball net a short distance from the front of The Chapel. This area is for the exclusive use of all guests at Manston Court. There is also guaranteed parking in the secluded court yard area suitable for several cars.

About Suzanne Box

My husband and I have been married happily for almost 33 years. We have 4 children all still living at home, and with all their friends coming and going, eating and staying, it feels more like a guest house! But it is lots of fun.

Our house was turned into a farm house in the 18th Century, but since moving here we started using part of it as self-catering holiday accommodation. The first part of the building we used was previously the servants quarters for a servant named Annie, who used to live here many years ago. Sadly no servant came with the house, so it's just me!

Annie's Cottage proved to be quite popular, so we then decided to do the same with the cottage next to it called Well House. It used to be a well house and pump room, and was converted into living accommodation about 100 years ago, when the 200 foot well which is now in the kitchen was capped. That too became very popular, so in 2009 we decided to convert The Chapel which only had 2 bedrooms and no kitchen, into a 3 bedroom house, with all bedrooms having their own ensuite, and a kitchen on the first floor.

The Chapel guests now, instead of being single people, couples or small families, are now large families, groups, and those celebrating special occasions, or wanting large family holidays. Some guests even hire all three properties and bring the whole family for a special occasion which has been lovely to see.

We run the properties as a family which is great working from home. We really enjoy hosting new guests, and many return each year and have become friends. We take great satisfaction in making the properties as nice as we can, so that our guests get as much out of the experience of staying here as possible, and that is our main motivation. It's hard work but very rewarding, and we never get tired of seeing what else we can do, and of seeing our lovely guests enjoy the properties. It's a lovely place to live, and a pleasure to share.

Why Suzanne Box chose Thanet District

The Chapel is a beautiful building, in a great location. It is peaceful and secluded, and yet close to the coast. The large grounds allow you to have fun with the family in a relaxing atmosphere, and there is so much to do in the local area, whatever time of year, and whatever your age. And sometimes it's nice just to do nothing and relax, and The Chapel and this location is perfect for both.

What makes this house unique

The major benefit of The Chapel is the size of the lounge. Being 40 foot long it comfortably houses a full size American pool table and 4, three seater sofas, which means that a large family or group can all be in the same room at the same time, having fun or relaxing. And with the open plan kitchen on the first floor, the layout being focused toward entertaining, it is just perfect for hosting any occasion, whether Christmas, New Year or a family celebration. Plus, with having an ensuite in every bedroom and an extra toilet in the utility room, it makes sharing for large groups really easy.

Amazing venue, pictures do not do it justice

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 10 ladies and chose to stay in this beautiful chapel for a weekend away. The owner Suzanne could not be more helpful both prior to the visit and during. The Chapel is absolutely stunning and the pictures on line don't even begin to show you how amazing and spacious it is.

We would all truly recommend anyone to visit this stunning venue and would like to thank Suzanne for being the most accommodating host and letting us enjoy her wonderful property.

A beautiful well equiped home from home accomodation in a praceful, ideallic location.

  • 5 of 5

A group of 7 of us stayed at The Chapel for a long weekend. We had ample space and it would have been comfortable even with a few more. The house is very well equiped and a bit home from home. Downstairs in the sitting room is a full sized Pool table and plenty of really comfy seating. We were so impressed that we stayed in at night and played music and had a pool tournament.

Kitchen has everthing you need with some of the neccesities included, such as hand soap, washing up liquid etc.

The beds were really comfy and we all slept really well.

The owners have made the accomodation very homely and we didnt want to leave.

The Chapel is ideally situated to get out and about, with a short distance to Margate, Broadstairs and other coastal places. A couple of miles away is a retail park with everything you need. The owners are full of advice and happy for you to get a grocery or takeaway delivery.

Highly recommend and we cant wait to visit again

The Chapel is within 4 miles of several sandy award winning beaches, some with facilities to jet sky, surf board and canoe.

Dreamland in Margate is only approximately 3 1/2 miles away, where they have loving restored historic fairground rides for everyone to enjoy. They also have a roller blading rink, and lots of attractions including well known bands frequently most weekends from the spring to the autumn.

Or if you want to try something unusual, 1/2 mile away is a helicopter pad where you can take a helicopter flying lesson. It will take you over the sea or the country side and is said to be great fun.

There are lots of free events locally each year, including Dickens Week in Broadstairs in July, where people dress up in Dickensian costumes, and do local tours and theatre, to show how life would have been 100 years ago.

Folk Week in August in Broadstairs, is full of family entertainment suitable for all ages. There are fun fair rides, stalls selling everything from aromatic scents to hand made items for the home and garden. There are two food fairs in Spring and Autumn also in Broadstairs showing off cooking techniques, where you can sample food from all over the world.

The Shell Grotto in Margate is definitely worth a visit. The historic tunnel consists of a winding subterranean passageway, roughly hewn out of the chalk, which winds down in serpentine fashion until it reaches an arch covered with shell mosaic.

This part of the Kent coast is perfect whatever the time of year, where there is lots to do for all ages, great for energetic holidays, sightseeing or just relaxing. You will be spoilt for choice.
