Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Sidbury - The Old Coach House

16th century character building, Close to the beach

The Old Coach House is a well presented, characterful property sleeping 10 across 5 bedrooms over the summer months. We offer a Saturday changeover for peak week stays. It is ideally situated in the picturesque village location of Sidbury while still being only a 5 minute drive to Sidmouth, the beach and esplanade. The property dates back to the 16th Century and a georgian frontage was added in the early 1800's. It retains character features including timber beams and archways. Bedlinen and towels are provided.

Sidbury: Sidbury is the perfect location to explore so many of the near by towns, villages and beaches. It is a 15 minute drive to Honiton, Seaton, Beer and Branscombe and 25 minutes to Lyme Regis. The beautiful, quaint, seaside town of Budleigh Salterton is just 25 minutes away as well. We have an excellent bus service, which runs frequently and until about 11.30pm from Sidmouth.

There are many beautiful walks and cycle paths around. We are happy to help with hiring of bicycles or a fishing boat, etc..

Within the area are wonderful places to eat also. Among others, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River cottage is just 15mins away.

A couple of doors down from The Old Coach House is a 16th Century pub called the Red Lion, serving home cooked food and opposite is a speciality local butchers and convenience store.

We are here to make your stay with us as pleasurable as possible and look to you for feedback, in order to make future stays more enjoyable

Lovely, comfortable home. Well presented and ideally situated for getting to places.

We enjoyed a wonderful week in Sidbury. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and 1 child, each having their own bathroom. The property can easily accommodate 10 people with 5 bathrooms, amazing! It was easy to get to Sidmouth, Lyne Regis, Budleigh Salterton etc. Lovely pub in the village. Very pleasant neighbours and the parking was ideal! Would definitely recommend it.

Lovely house in a picture-perfect village

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with my family (10 of us) over a long weekend and we all loved it. Beautiful house, plenty of space. We particularly loved the social areas, the kitchen and the beautiful and big living room. The recently renovated bathrooms were stunning. The village of Sidbury is so pretty and we loved the area overall. Also very friendly reception from the owners. Loved it and have already recommended it to others. We'll be back. Thank you!

Excellent apartment, could happily stay longer!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful apartment, more than a home from home! Clean and well presented, very comfortable. Few extras shown in the photos that weren't there on arrival (herbs etc in kitchen) but those would've been the icing on the cake!

Great communication from the owners, and prompt repayment of our deposit following our departure - it would've perhaps been useful to have a guide to using the heating, dishwasher etc, along with a guide to the local area e.g. supermarkets, restaurants, as the village shop closes before check in time, thankfully we were able to make use of the free wifi to find a shop!

Would definitely recommend to a friend and would certainly consider staying again as it makes a great base to explore the local area and attractions.

Beautiful, comfortable and Devon village gem.

  • 5 of 5

The Old Coach House apartment was exactly as described and we were thoroughly pleased with the apartment. There was everything that we could possibly need inside the apartment and the decor was beautiful and in keeping with such a gorgeous coach house. Sudbury is idyllic and everything that we imagined it to be. There is a lovely village shop just over the road which had any provisions that we needed and his home made produce delicious. Sidmouth is approximately 5 mins away by car. We were over the moon with this idyllic setting and beautiful apartment and we would have no hesitation in recommending this to our friends. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay and we hope to see you again. Sue and Steve.

The Old Coach House is a charming, 16th Century coach house 2 miles from the Regency town of Sidmouth on the South Devon coast. Sidbury‚ with its lovely cottage frontages and gardens‚ is a haven of tranquil village charm. No wonder it has won the Best Kept Village competition so many times. Sidbury is also on the bus route and in an excellent position for exploring this beautiful area.

Sidmouth was a small fishing town that became a fashionable destination in the Regency period, and retains an unspoilt Regency seafront promenade and many interesting buildings from the period. The Jurassic Coast of East Devon is a World Heritage Site, with beautiful coves and cliffs and stunning coastal walks. Places to visit include, Bicton Park and Gardens, Crealy Adventure Park, Seaton Tramway, Powderham Castle, Beer Quarry Caves, great family beaches in Sidmouth, Beer, Seaton, Exmouth & Budleigh.
