Kitchen: Fully equipped kitchen with sea view and doors opening onto a large balcony.

I'm an IT manager who loves good dining and island holidays.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location

We heard about a development in Porto Colom in Mallorca when we were looking to buy back in 2004. We did a lot of research and decided to buy there. The clean beaches and upmarket nature of that side of the island appealed to us. We liked that local authorities had banned any additional building developments in front of our property. We did what may seem like the craziest thing. We bought the property off plan without ever having been to that fishing village. When we did visit it as it was being built, we found that we'd bought a place in the most tranquil and beautiful location we had ever travelled to.

I don't like uncomfortable holidays. If I'm not going to stay in comfortable accommodation, I'd rather stay at home. The apartment has a great view from the balcony and I love gazing out at the lighthouse and walking to the beach that's within easy walking distance.

What makes this apartment unique

Our apartment is also right at the pool, which is very quiet. In addition, we enjoy driving to explore other coves and beaches along the coast. The apartment is spacious and breezy, with modern decor and stylish blinds on the balcony that make us feel we are in a perfect place. It also has all modern conveniences, including CD player with USB port, TV, fridge, freezer, touch stove, dishwasher and microwave.

super holiday location, but .......

We arrived rather late at the property due to flight delays, and were disappointed that the key-holder was not available to greet us. He had an appointment to keep! The key was left in a safe place for us. However, we didn't see the manager at all during our 2 week stay.

The property was as described - roomy, modern, everything we needed was there - including a beach umbrella, which was definitely appreciated.

However, as we reported to the manager on our first day, one of the bedrooms had no working lighting, no working ceiling fan and an old, broken and dangerous fan. The issue was not resolved during our 2 weeks stay. We were provided with a new fan however. We were advised that an electrician had been organised (for the week after we vacated).

There was also an issue with unclean bedding in that same room, which we had to wash immediately so that it could be used.

This was the bedroom for 2 young children, and was totally unacceptable in that condition.

Several lamps and lights were not working, although this did not detract from our enjoyment of the apartment. However, we did expect them to be repaired/replaced whilst we were in residence. They were not.

The kitchen, although well equipped, showed signs of unsatisfactory cleaning. The coffee machine was unusable due to a mouldy filter - which should have been picked up at the last clean.

The dishwasher stopped working which we reported, more for the benefit of future guests, as it was not going to be repaired during our stay.

I was unable to contact the owner directly to discuss matters - which I felt were down to poor on-site management.

Owner's Response: Dear Kath, I am sorry you appear to have had so many problems during your stay. I have taken up the cleanliness issues with our manager and he will ensure this does not happen again. As to the lights it is very difficult to find someone in the summer to repair things in Mallorca. Its all been fixed now. I am surprised that you in particular seemed to have so many problems as we have had no problems at all with any of our other guests to date. Nice, spacious, quiet.

Location was perfect for us, 5 mn. to the beach and with the pool in the back yard. Great for my 3-yr-old. And the apt. is quiet and spacious, very good for ud too. And no tourist hustle and bustle in Cala Marcal.

Our overall impression was that the property was very well maintained.Each room decorated perfectly.The layout and facilities were exactly as described.I would definitely return here and have highly recommend to family and friends..Beautiful quiet location.

A 'Perfect' Place to Stay

This is a fantastic apartment in the very beautiful Cala Marcal in Porto Colom. We had a fabulous two weeks and couldn't have wished for a better apartment for our stay, it was perfect. Clean, comfortable with plenty of space and very nicely furnished. The large balcony has amazing views including the picturesque lighthouse and out to sea. The pool and surrounding gardens are spotless and very well maintained. The beautiful beach of Cala Marcal with its bars and restaurants is only a 2 minute walk. Would recommend this apartment without any hesitation and hope to return 2015!!!

Great apartment, very comfortable and spacious

The appartment is big and spacious, Good air circulation and it is not hot 2 kingsize beds, and one single bed, big couch very comfortable 4 minutes walking to cala marcal , wonderful balcony with precious views of the beautiful Portocolom's lighthouse. We enjoyed a wonderful stay. The swimming pool is big although I missed some shadows there!
