About Chris

Hi, We are an Australian couple living in London now for the last 10 years. This is our much loved Clerkenwell apartment where we spent some of our most memorable times on London.

We now live a little bit further out of the city in a suburb called Dulwich, having to move (begrudgingly) to a house once our kids arrived. We still love the neighbourhood, going back regularly to the wonderful bars and restaurants in the area.

Chris purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Chris chose Clerkenwell

We loved living in the flat which is on the top floor of an old Georgian house in a street and an area with lots of history. . The neighbourhood has become a known area now for designers of all types. Clerkenwell design week becoming an industry must for many companies.

With that the area is full of fashionable restaurants and bars which attract a very cool crowd. Exmouth Market is just 5 minutes work away, somewhere where Im sure you will be eating at a least a couple of times during your stay.

The flat itself is on the top two floors, tucked away in very quiet street but one street each way and you are back in the hustle and bustle. Being on the top floor it feels very quiet. we fully renovated the flat about 5 years ago to a very high standard and have maintained this over the years. Difficult to find a period apartment with such a large open plan living similar to this.

Excellent Host, Amazing Property, and Fab Experience All-round

  • 5 of 5

Stumbled on this property and found Chris, from the get-go, to be a fantastically enabling and pleasant person. The property, needless to say, was found to be in stunningly excellent condition and the occupants (family) all enjoyed their experience there. No hesitation recommending the property and the host and would indeed book it again in an instant. Many thanks once again...

Incredible vacation rental in the heart of Clerkenwell

  • 5 of 5

I have been to London several times and have stayed in various parts of the city, but Chris's property is by far my favorite. Clerkenwell is an excellent location because it is close to the action, but is quiet and safe - you feel like a true Londoner while on vacation. I also like that the flat is in a historic building and has beautiful views, but has been completely renovated to provide the most updated amenities. The flat provides the best mix of old and new and it's clear that it was intended to be someone's home, not just a "rental". The kitchen appliances and bathrooms are high end and the gas fireplace is a huge bonus! I am an interior designer so I appreciated the excellent design elements and original art. The master bedroom upstairs has a VERY comfortable king bed which is rare in rentals and the downstairs bedroom has a nice double bed. There are also two HD TVs (one with an Apple TV) with many channels and although we weren't in London to watch TV, it was nice to have the option at night when we were tired. We also appreciated the close proximity of the flat to the tube, grocery stores, coffee shops and to many amazing restaurants and pubs. Everything you need is so close. I can't say enough about Exmouth Market. It has some of the best food in the city. Lastly, Chris is an excellent responsive host. I felt like I could contact him at any time if there was a problem, but of course, our stay was perfect so we didn't need to. My husband and I were very sad to leave and we will ABSOLUTELY stay in this place again. Thanks again for everything, Chris. We loved every minute of our stay in your AMAZING flat!!

An perfect home away from home while in London

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Chris's fantastic flat while in London. Its located in a historic and quiet part of Clerkenwell that feels residential but is completely nearby great restaurants, transportation and easily walkable to both East and West ends. The apartment is extremely well designed, spacious and will comfortably accommodate two couples or someone traveling with a child, especially with one bathroom per level. One thing to note is that the Master bedroom and bath are in the same space on the second level, as shown in the photos. We weren't bothered by this, but this may not be for everyone. The apartment was full of light even on grey London days, overlooking other historic buildings in the area and with a lovely church spire visible nearby. All amenities are high end and well thought through and of course very clean. We loved cooking in the kitchen and relaxing in the evenings with a glass of wine and the fireplace going. Most importantly we felt like this could be our own apartment, and if anything it was too easy to just want to spend time in the apartment rather than heading out to explore the city. The listing description and photos are accurate, and Chris was responsive and easy to reach. There is also a helpul guide with various instructions to both the apt and info on the local area. We will DEFINITELY stay here on our next trip.
