About Mike Hare

Ola..and Welcome to our Little Oasis on the Costa Calida coastline overlooking the Mar Menor.

My wife Jean, and I had always wanted a 'Place in the Sun' and 13 years ago an opportunity arose for us to see that wish through, with the purchase of Miradores del Puerto, followed 2 years later by Marinesco 2.

We immediately were attracted to the area by the convenience of a 2.5 hour flight, the cosiness of landing at a small but very efficient airport at San Javier - and more importantly the apartment, its positioning and the surroundings, it just felt right.

We have tried to make each of our place's a 'home from home' thinking about what would be the perfect place to stay in if we were having a break abroad - and hopefully over the years of us owning them, we would like to think we have done so.

Lovely Comfortable Apartment

Mike was very helpful prior to our stay, quickly answering our questions and the option of late check out on last day was very welcome as we had a 10pm flight!

Bob was very helpful on the drive from the airport to the apartment giving us information and tips of where to go.

The apartment is a good size for four people, clean and well looked after.

The kitchen is very well equipped with clean, well maintained appliances. The only negative was a slight lack of worktop; we managed and it was fine for what we needed, but I suspect if would be a challenge to cook a proper meal in there.

A decent size balcony area with a good size table, side table and 6 chairs.

We found the beds and pillows uncomfortable, but that's personal preference - as no-one else has commented, it may just be us!

A good addition would be a couple of sunbeds to take down to the pool area rather than just chairs and maybe some pool/beach towels. We bought airbeds which were more comfortable than the chairs, but sunbeds would have been even better.

The pool was large and warm, clean and attended to regularly with lots of natural shade around the grassy area plus some fixed umbrellas. We had no problem finding a shady spot at all different times of the day. We found it was busy from about 11-2.30/3pm then again from about 6pm as many went for siesta.

The "sea" was warm - we swam across from the apartment rather than from the beach where there are steps down to get into the water. It became deep at one point then shallower again so we were only out of our depth for a short time.

It was nice to not have to hire a car this year as everything we needed was walking distance from the apartment.

The supermarket was big and a bonus it was so close.

There is a good choice of restaurants but oddly most offer very similar menus - pizza, pasta mainly! So we found ourselves returning to our favourites a few times and trying different meals there. There are also two very nice Indians, but no Chinese unfortunately.

Overall a very enjoyable relaxing holiday, thank you very much.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your positive feedback - and for comprehensive breakdown. We really do appreciate a personal view as without this we would not be in a position to maintain and upgrade where necessary. The beauty of the kitchen is it is separate and stand alone, yet convenient for the dining areas, be it eating al fresco on the large balcony overlooking the landscaped gardens and pools as well as the indoor space. As owners we stay for a block of 4 - 5 weeks each year and tend to do a considerable amount of cooking in the apartment - however, we are seriously considering putting a "Breakfast Bar" along one wall which will add to the preparation area available. Over the years we have supplied sunbeds, but because of the popularity and usage of the apartment they do tend to be prone to a considerable amount of "wear n' tear" and have found a good solution are the beach chairs which are a low lying chair with varying back positions which are easy to carry and ideal for the beach or by the pool. I am pleased to say beach towels will be supplied going forward. Thank you once again for taking the time to create a review with some great constructive feedback.

The key to the main apartment block door very trickery. Everyone was having the same problem so it’s obviosly the lock not the key.

Proving that, not only is this an ideal apartment catering for Couples, Families, Long Term Stays, but is complimented by the surrounding area which offers everything for everyone. A Word of Warning though.... If you are looking for an All Singing, All Dancing (Literally) go through the night drinking venue - Then....THIS IS NOT FOR YOU.... It is for those wanting a safe, relaxing chilled Spanish atmosphere, with a small hint of Brits. Perfect, Long Sandy Beaches for relaxing, safe swimming for the full Sunshine months and long lazy walks in the cooler months - A great choice of restaurants on and off the Marina, with a number staying open through the Winter and Spring months. Good transport options throughout the year, and easy to get to sights too.

A great, good-sized apartment with lovely balcony overlooking the pool area

I will definitely try to book again. The owner was very helpful with arrangements and the apartment was really clean and well equipped. Most impressed.

It is located just a short stroll from the marina, with a great choice of restaurants. The supermarket, just a few minutes walk, is extremely well stocked for all daily needs.

The sandy beaches on the mar menor are gently-shelving and the water is lovely and warm. The Mediterranean side has long stretches of sandy beaches too. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay.

Excellent two bedroom apartment with a great balcony to catch the sun

Very impressed with this well equipped and extremely clean apartment. Bedrooms are a good size. Balcony overlooks the swimming pools, with adult and children pools. The garden surround is well maintained. Located just a short walk from a very well stocked supermarket. Similarly the Marina is just a short walk with it's great range of restaurants from which you can catch superb sunsets.

I will book again.

Great Apartment - Chilled, Relaxed,Everything you want from a break & more...

Great Apartment - Perfect Position for Restaurants, Bars, and Beaches. The apartment has everything you want for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. This includes a wonderful Satellite system with all popular UK Channels, including Film, Sport Sky & BT, and not just British Channels world wide channels are also available. A Film Club with the latest and all style of Films if board with the TV and a Great Music Channel catering for all genre of tastes.

2 Full Size Bathrooms, not the usual Shower only as in many rental apartments, nice up to date modern furniture with a couple of very comfortable leather settees and separate dining area. Great to have a separate kitchen with everything you need at hand - plus very little "dirty" washing to take back home did it all "in house" in the large washer in the utility room.

Beach Furniture in abundance - small beach chairs, easy to carry relaxer (modern deck chairs) beach umbrella and a cool box also for the packed lunch and keeping the drinks cool - a god send.

Bars an Restaurants within 2 minutes of the apartment and again spoilt for choice either side of the marina. Can recommend a lovely friendly bar/home made food British operation called Le Club run by the ever smiling Lynne & John. New Italian/Pizza restaurant just round the corner - superb, called The Imperial - also round of applause for La Brasiere next to it and on the marina, Casablanca, Sugar & Spice, De Mares, and a great Elvis Impersonation from the owner of The Welcome.

Busses on a regular basis, up and down the La Manga Strip at only 1 euro 15 cents per journey.

A great experience with great owners a definite repeat visit is a must.

The La Manga Strip is 22Km of land which juts out from the Costa Calida coast and creates the South west surround of the Mar Menor (Little Sea). With in the province of Murcia, it boasts 322 days of sunshine a year, and therefore one of the mildest climates of Spain. This has resulted in the name Coast Calida - 'The Warm Coast'.

The strip at its narrowest point is 100 metres wide and at its widest is 1.5km, with 44km of beaches, the protected bays and coves are on he Mar Menor side with the water boasting temperatures of approximately +4 degrees higher than its counter part, The Mediterranean - with the marina being some 18km along the strip.

Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and Caravaca dela Cruz present most of the history in the region, with Murcia being the home to the 600 year old Santa Maria Cathedral - the highest in Spain. Cartagena is an exceptionally beautiful city with Roman and Byzantine battlements visible to the public and walking tours can be arranged if requested.

Other Activities: Go Karting - Bird Sanctury - Great Markets Daily. Ferry across Mar Menor

Golf: With in 30 minutes you can be playing one of the 3 famous courses at The exclusive La Manga Club with an array of famous Who's Who of the sporting world, and the first choice of many continental football teams Winter training and pre-season training camps.

Further a field there are some great Polaris World/Jack Nicolas Golf courses at Mar Menor, Hacienda Requelmie and La Torre - all with very reasonably priced Green fees.

* Confirmation will be accepted with a £100 per booking non-refundable deposit.
* Standard Check Out Time is 10.00 am, the day of departure - However, should a "Late Check Out" be required due to Flight Times the apartment can be yours for the Full Day of Departure for just an additional payment of 25 euro (If available) - please let us know when making the provisional booking and completing the Booking Confirmation Form - this is payable to the Team in Spain.
* Additional Linen for Bed Settee is 25 euro - Payable to team in Spain.
* Final payments must be received 40 Days prior to arrival at the apartment.
* Should the booking date fall within the 40 Days of departure - full payment must be made at the time of booking

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
