Overview

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Six-Fours-les-Plages - Duplex apartment in Sanary

Open plan apartment sleeps 4 - master bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom.

This light and comfortable recently refurbished duplex apartment with sweeping views across the Provence countryside is very well situated and can sleep up to 4 or possibly 5 (depending on your circumstances) and is situated close to the beach (7 mins walk) and the harbour town of Sanary-Sur-Mer (15 mins walk).

The property has a south facing terrace where you can relax and eat alfresco all year round. It overlooks the valley and fort of Six-Fours-les-Plages. Refurbished in 2011, it is decorated and furnished to a high standard. The lounge is spacious and leads directly to the balcony. It includes a high quality sofa bed (three seater converts to king size bed), TV and music centre. There is a king size bed in the main bedroom along with a wardrobe. A baby travel cot and high chair are also available if needed. There is a new fitted kitchen and a separate dressing room next to the shower room which has a second wardrobe and a very comfortable futon, ideal for a teenager (if you need to find room for a fifth person!).

A car is not essential but we would recommend it if you wish to explore the local area including the quiet beaches and wonderful walks in the peninsula of le Brusc.

Sanary is a delightful, unspoilt fishing village with a beautiful sea-front harbour and a long promenade stretching from the sandy beaches of Portissol to Six Fours.

The narrow and winding cobbled streets have plenty to offer with a variety of cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, boutiques and art galleries. Sanary is lively all year round with plenty to do for adults and children alike and even has its own mini fun-fair for the young ones. Many other activities are on offer locally including plenty of live music, daily markets, water sports and excursions.

The daily markets sell wonderful local produce including fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and cheese. Once a week, the famous Sanary market attracts people from far and wide for its excellent variety and lively atmosphere.

As a Mediterranean seaside town, there is also much on offer for beach and watersports enthusiasts - anything from a bucket & spade to wind-surfing or diving. There are motor boats and sailing boats for hire if you wish to enjoy your own impromptu trip and a variety of guided excursions from a visit to the Calanques to deep sea fishing.

Within an hour’s drive are Aix en Provence, Marseilles and St Tropez. A short drive inland brings you to the famous vineyards of Bandol, beautiful pine forests to explore, pretty perched villages such as Castellet and the famous old Formula 1 race track - the Circuit Paul Ricard.

About Beatrice Laurent - Hewitt

My name is Beatrice and I am a retired teacher and now split my time between Stratford upon Avon where I spend time with my wonderful grand-children and Sanary sur Mer where I love to relax and soak in the joys (and sunshine!) of Provence. Sanary is a home away from home not least because I am French but because I have spent many many summer holidays in the south of France either as a youngster or with my own children. This really is the perfect place to come for a relaxing break either on your own, as a couple or with children of all ages.

Beatrice Laurent - Hewitt purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Beatrice Laurent - Hewitt chose Var

The apartment provides a comfortable retreat close to the beach and to the village which has all the amenities you will need. It is within easy reach of many of the highlights of Provence including Marseilles, the Carmargue, Aix en Provence, St Tropez. This is a very popular seaside resort loved by the French as well as European visitors for it's lively and authentic atmosphere!

What makes this apartment unique

Great views from the balcony and you can eat alfresco all year round. Good beaches, wartersports, walking, hiking, bike riding, horse riding are all in easy reach. The vineyards, lavender fields, perched villages are stunning and the opportunity to join locals at their regular fétes is great too! Don't miss the daily and weekly markets with the simply fantastic fresh local produce which is a joy to both cook and eat!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The apartment is in a very quiet, residential area just a ten or twelve minute walk from the beach. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony as the sun went down - nice and

quiet. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable, especially the king size bed.

We liked the beaches at Le Brusc and Portissol. It was very windy for a couple of days and watching the windsurfers at the beach closest to the apartment was very

entertaining. Wednesday market in Sanary is huge and well worth a visit.

Ideal apartment in this lovely part of France

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted to find this comfortable apartment in a peaceful location. The accommodation is thoughtfully laid out and in very good decorative order. The balcony has ample space for four people and has a lovely view. The local scene in Sanary is very attractive with plenty of restaurants to choose from, and a variety of interesting shops. Market day (Wednesday) is a must! For more exploration there are places along the coast well worth investigating and we really enjoyed sea bathing.

The arrangements for our booking were handled efficiently and we would be happy to stay there again.

A good base

  • 4 of 5

This apartment about 2km from Sanary port is well equipped and comfortable .The bed is large , there is ample storage space, a compact kitchen, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The balcony has a view of hills and forests over well kept gardens of Meditrranean shrubs. The only downside was the hill up from the beach and promenade, but without this there would be no view. There are many opportunities within a short drive for local walks to escape the largely built up area along the prom; to the ile de Gaou, the Ile des Embiez by a short boat trip,up to the high point of Cap Sicie. In May the flowers were profuse in the hills and along the coast. Nearbye you can visit Bandol and ile Bendor, the hill villages of Evenos and Le Castellet, the Bandol vineyards, Cassis , the Calanques and the Route des Cretes, Toulon with its interesting harbour tour , huge Provencal market and musee de la Marine. A visit to Marseille is also recommended. Sanary itself is very pretty, with the best beach at Portissol. We had a most enjoyable week full of activity as the weather was great, even during the 2 days the Mistral blew ferociously.

Inside the house are two sets of 6 step stairs as there are 3 floors and with the hill ,it would not be good for the unfit. There are large local markets 2x week, a daily veg market and a good Carrefour a short drive away.

Beatrice was very helpful with any queries.

Stunning place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week in this lovely apartment and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The apartment is small but perfect for couples or a small family and has everything you need. The view is beautiful, the area is stunning and the beach is a simple 5 minute walk away. There are many restaurants along the strip which offer a wide range of beautiful meals. There is also the beautiful harbour, which is a 15 minute walk away and offers many shops, bars and places to eat. There are also lovely markets and street sellers every day.

A few minutes drive away was the lovely beach of Bandol and we spent two days simply sitting on the beach in the beautiful sunshine.

Cassis is only 30 minutes away and has a fantastic sandy beach which my son loved. Loads to do and lovely places to eat.

Bob was fantastic and communicated with me constantly in the run up to our stay. He answered questions and made me feel welcome.

Thank you for a great week and we would love to go back.

Great stay in Sanary

  • 5 of 5

We spent three lovely weeks in Bob's and Beatrice's cosy appartment. Everything was well organized when we arrived and we felt comfortable immediately. We travelled with our 7 months old son and there was a baby bed ready for us. There are a couple of extras in this appartment that were very convenient: a great collection of guides, hiking books and information in the living room, a washing machine in the bathroom, a very well equipped small kitchen, the baby bed and not to forget the super great dvd collection. The large balcony (with a terrific scenic view) is just perfect and even in February you can have lunch and afternoon-coffees there.

The appartment is situated in a quiet area but you can walk to the next beaches and to Sanary. There is so much to do and see. There are a couple of nice beaches nearby and we did a lot of hiking and walking. We made a day trip to Marseille by train, to Bormes-les-Mimosas, to Castelet, to Gros Cervau (fantastic views), and and and...

We had a fantastic stay and I would like to say thank you for everything. Bob and Beatrice are a very nice couple and if you would like to stay in their appartment just give them a call. They are very helpful and will let you know why Sanary is worth a visit. I had a very pleasant conversation on the phone and via email with them.

Thanks and best wishes from Germany,

Sabrina with Frank and Justus

wonderful holidays

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very nice and comfortable and we felt well from the very beginning. We liked Sanary Harbour with the excellent restaurants. But most of the days we prepared our meals in the well equipped kitchen with fresh vegetables, fruit and fish we had bought at the market in Sanary. The beach is near and proper and we were swimming nearly every da. We had a lot of trips by bicycle, for example to the isle of Gaou or to the Bay of Portissol or to the village of Bandol. We had a one-day-trip to Marseille, we took the train, the station was near by. By Boat we visited the sheer rock walls of the "Calanques". The owner had a lot of recommendations for excursions and other activities, but our holidays were too short. We have to come back! A lot of thanks to Béatrice and Bob and best regards from Annette and Hans-Heinrich (Berlin, Germany)
