Step back in time to this charming 1935 waterfront cabin. Hike down a steep trail of old growth trees and native sword ferns to our cozy waterfront beach cabin. There are 80 stairs and 7 switchbacks on the walk down and back up again to the road, but the beautiful private location is worth the effort. Enjoy 120' of low bank waterfront facing west. Beautiful sunsets, beach walks, and abundant wildlife await you. This quiet spot will steal your heart. Just 5 minutes from the Vashon ferry dock, and yet feels a world away from busy Seattle.
Remodeled kitchen, "great" room with massive rock fireplace and 2 sets of French doors that open onto the deck overlooking the water. The deck has outdoor seating for lounging and dining. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare your home cooked meals. The cabin sleeps 4, with a queen-size bed in the main floor bedroom, plus 2 full-size futon beds in the attic sleeping room. The bathroom is vintage "beach cabin" with a claw foot tub/shower, plenty of linens, bath towels, and beach towels are available for your stay.
The outdoor space includes a picnic lawn area with a charcoal BBQ grill. One of our favorite spots to enjoy sunsets and evenings is the teak bench down on the edge of the water below the deck.
Fun things to do while at the cabin:
Watch the eagles and cormorants circle the cove from your lounge chair.
Keep an eye out for "Lucy" the local seal to pop her head up, and the blue heron who likes to pose on one leg at the beach.
Walk the rocky beach, exploring the tidelands.
Hike the 3-mile roundtrip to the Vashon Winery through the beautiful Shinglemill Creek Preserve.
Enjoy a camp fire at sunset.
Due to the steep trail with stairs and switchbacks, this beautiful little place will appeal to hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. There are 78 wooden stairs and 8 switchbacks on the trail. This is what islanders call a "walk-in." A backpack will be easier to carry than a suitcase.
