It is a totally unique apartment set in the historical area of Ortigia.
The apartment is very well equipped and very stylishly decorated.
The added bonus is the sun roof , which gives you a perfect view of terracotta tiles, sea , churches and even Mount Etna!
Added to which the owner, Barbara, and her mother were exceptionally helpful. In fact a delight to know.
Thank you again Bobby and John
Perfect- home from home
Great apartment, Barbara (owner) was lovely and helpful. We will be back next year. Thank you for making it special.
Great decor, location and very spacious but needs better customer management
A really well decorated apartment, spacious and the two balconies with the one on the roof top terrace expand the space even more. The stairs up to the flat can be tricky at night as no lights. The water went out one day - which is common to the island but the response of the owner was lacking. Use of and functioning Toilets and showers are not “nice to haves” but essentials. The owner’s response felt like she was frustrated and irritated with our concerns and questions on when it would be fixed and what we were to do in the absence of working toilets / showers. It was a holiday and she was away for the day and eventually had her brother call. We were told to try to reset the pump ourselves - on the roof in a small closet with no real explanation of what or how to do it! In the end the outage lasted most of the day but did get restored and we reset the pump. It was a shame as the apartment has much to offer - a more immediate and less defensive response would have made the difference. Barbara did give us some chocolates for the inconvenience - which was ok, but a more concerned, immediate and proactive response would have been even better.
Dear Mary, I am sorry to read this now when you could have explained your problem to us, we would have answered you truthfully. unfortunately in those days of celebration here in Italy (2 June the day of the Italian republic) a water pipe broke in the island of Ortigia. I'm sorry for this but it was not our fault. We tried to help you by bringing the water cans and you know this. the water was not there for 10 hours. we have replied to your messages in 5 minutes. my family and I work with love, in fact, the chocolate was to apologize for the problem, not to admit a problem not caused by us.
A wonderful gem in the heart of Ortigia
This lovely apartment has been beautifully restored and is like a home from home. There is really little to fault. It is very private and unbelievably quiet at night, and yet not far from the bustling streets of Ortigia with its lively bars and restaurants.
The roof terrace is fantastic where you can spend the afternoon in the glorious sunshine, or having the first evening cocktail as the sun sets.
Barbara, the owner, is very easy going and was a pleasure to meet. She is very helpful and cares very much that your stay is comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The living area is large and comfortable. The main bedroom and bathroom are cosy as is the bed.
It is a bonus to have a washing machine too.
Thank you Barbara. We will recommend you and be back.
Dear Nick and Sian, it was a pleasure to have met you. Grazie e CIAO :-)
Highly Recommend 🙂
If you are visiting East Sicily this is the place to stay. All the sights are within 1.5hrs (Ragusa, Noto, Catania, Mount Etna, Taormina) and airport 1 hour away. Ortigia old town is a great place to stay with lots of history and great restaurants and cafes on the doorstep. The apartment is recently refurbished to a very high standard and has a wonderful sun terrace with sea views. Barbara is lovely and was a pleasure to meet and bump into in Origia several times 🙂🙂 Highly recommended 👍
Thanks for your review. It was nice to meet you and your family. hug hug from Sicily. CIAO :-)
Very nice and spacious apartment. Great Ortigia location. For those who cook there could be more cooking equipment such as a good knife or two and a non-glass cutting board, a few more pots and pans and covers. The twin beds are not full size twins. Be forewarned, the building entry and courtyard are pretty shabby, but not in any way that is terribly out of keeping with Siracusa. The daily food market at the north of the island is a great experience with great ingredients!
Upon arrival at the flat we kindly ask our guests to pay a €100 security deposit cash which will be refunded upon departure provided that there are no damages.
