Gothic memories on the path to Notre Dame Cathedral

Bedrooms 2
Space 452 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 separated bedrooms with each shower and WC rooms and a sofa bed.

Flat at groundfloor compose of two bedrooms with each its own bathroom (shower, sink and toilet).

We did a long and complete renovation trying to respect the soul of the ancient place.

Part of the walls of the building belong in the past to the Bernardins college of 13th century. That was the time of the "Templar Chevaliers"....

We conceived the whole volume for a comfort of people needing privacy and calm and an area to be together during the day.

Two separate bedrooms with closing doors and their individuals toilet and shower comfort .

A dining and living room area with a little kitchen but fully equipped.

The height of the ceiling of the upper bedroom is around 2 mt heigh (the wooden ceiling is not straight as old building).

The height of the ceiling of the bedroom under the mezzanine is of 2mt height.

The wooden ceiling in the dining room is of 3.9mt high.

We are three minutes walk from Notre Dame Cathedral and in front of Ile- Saint-Louis.

In the dining room there is a sofa bed with a mattress for daily rest (140x190cm)

In the upper bedroom there are twin beds that can be put together for a bed of 160x190.

The bed in the bedroom downstairs is of 140x190 cm.

The mattress are very comfortable of 21cm heigh in the bedrooms.

The mattress in the dining room is thiner but for a comfort of daily rest (size 140x190cm).

About Maria

Italian living in Paris .

Passioned of history, interior decoration and Economics.

Maria purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Maria chose Saint Victor

You will live the experience of being in the oldest part of the city, where the architecture is full of history.

We choose this place because of its special "soul" as it belonged to the gothic Bernardins College of the 13th century.

The high volume and its old stones magnified in the living room remind us the history of the place.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat has two bedrooms with two bathrooms. The guests sleeping in the living room (on sofa bed) has access to the downstairs (two steps) bathroom without disturbing people sleeping in the downstairs bedroom.

Location can't be beat.

  • 4 of 5

The location is incredible and price is very reasonable. We spent four nights. The upstairs beds were comfortable and it was great having two bathrooms. We were met by the woman who cleans the place but she knew no English so we didn't get some basic information. We met the neighbor who gave us a great restaurant recommendation. Maria came to visit on our last night and showed us some things. We also found out the apartment is still a work in progress. Some of the things mentioned by others we also noticed and recommended that Maria buy some new towels! Some of the chairs are a little rickety feeling but the futon was comfortable to sit on.

We had an issue with the upstairs shower not draining properly the first morning but it was fixed immediately.

There is a nice little bakery right around the corner where we went for breakfast every morning and some very nice restaurants within a block or two.

Owner's Response: Dear Karla, thanks a lot for the review and suggestions that we have already put in practice. We furnish clean towels despite that might be not completely new. As you said, price is reasonable so that means that somewhat we do at best as this is not an hotel. About chair, as we bought antique furniture, of course something can occur. We did not ask you anything for the broken chair. About check in, I waited for your phone call to complete information, chose that I did the same day when we called each other. This is why there is a direct line at disposal of guests. My cooperator just gives the key to guests. The flat is newly renovated and there is no work in progress. We did not come to do any work during your stay. Finishings ideas that we might decide to do or not just to improve the decoration are not "work in progress" at all, to be honest speaking. About shower draining to check, this was good to come as we found something inside went by mistake, this can happen . This is was good as we could find wet cloths on the curtains....and suggest you to use the layer at disposal in the flat. We furnish a direct line with free calls that is there to be used in case guests needs something. We think we assist our guests at best, as you could experience yourself. Hoping to see you again. Regards. Maria

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family of 6 and although it was tight, we made it work, primarily because we were out exploring Paris most of the time. The location was great, the apartment was clean, and Maria was very friendly and helpful.

Mostly great

  • 4 of 5

Amazing location. Space is totally renovated and very clean, (except some dishes had food on them). We stayed 4 nights and were mostly content. The beds are on the soft side, bedding is comfortable.

Maria speaks good English and was always responsive to text/calls.

Some of the cons: keeping the windows open to allow ventilation and moisture out lets in the noise of the many doors being used by neighbors in the shared alley;

the towels are threadbare;

the downstairs bath has a towel warmer which can dry towels but the tiny upstairs bath does not have hooks or anywhere to put a wet towel.

Very basic bohemian with great access to everything.

Perfect Location So Close to Notre Dame

  • 4 of 5

Charming apartment close to Notre Dame - our favorite location. Max, Maria's husband, was charming and met us and explained everything about the apartment. A bit of miscommunication about the time but we did just fine once we met. All was spotlessly clean, and was as expected. Loved the first floor entry so no lugging luggage up many floors. Many bistros (the one one the corner by the river, L'Hostellerie de l'oi qui fume, had the best food we had in Paris), bakery, coffee shop, small grocery, etc. within a block. Thank you Maria and Max!!

Owner's Response: Dear, thanks for your review. About "miscommunication" ... I would say this is not what happened... You sent a sms from your phone without checking phone and wifi coverage and of course it did not reach us ... On the contrary I received your sms when you were already Inside the flat. The meeting in the flat agreed by mail was foreseen at 4pm, and this time was strictly respected. You arrived before and you choose to stand in the street instead of going in the very near coffee bar. We are sorry for this but our organization is done in advance and cannot tune if a guests changes time arrival at last minute .. especially if we donot know that you anticipate. We think we would deserve.... 5 stars as we did at best to respect arrival's time. Thanks and hoping to see you again. Maria

Boutique, ma davvero

  • 3 of 5
