Barnaloft is an award winning block of apartments created from a former pilchard curing cellar and seine loft. Our ground floor apartment has been in the hands of the same family for over forty years since it was built and until recently only let to friends and family. It has a private access to Porthmeor Beach from the courtyard making it the ideal place to enjoy the surf and sand. There is a large living/dining room with stunning views over the beach and a window seat where you can sit and watch the changing seas. The original Ercol dining table seats 6 and a door leads to a private balcony where many an evening has been passed watching the sun set. The large double bedroom also has panoramic views over the beach and has a large wardrobe and fitted dressing table. There is a smaller second bedroom with twin beds which overlooks the courtyard. There is a fitted galley kitchen and a bathroom with bath and shower over. There is garage parking and access to a coin operated laundrette.
The flat has been in our familly since they were built in the early sixties and we have had a love of St Ives since then. We have many happy memories of surfing, fishing and having fun with many families who we met every year. My brother and I have taken over from our parents and still love to go down and enjoy the art and beautiful coast line. The sea however seems to have got a lot colder!
Cathey Groombridge purchased this apartment in 1963
My father bought the flat when St Ives was very different but he wanted a place where we could all go and have fun in the holidays. 50 years later we are still enjoying it.What a wise man he was!
Right on the beach. A short walk to the shops and restaurants and garage parking!
Our week in your flat was wonderful, thank you so much. Everything was perfect, even the weather was fine and we had such a good time.
As St Ives has become our favourite summer-holiday destination, we would like to ask if the flat will be available next year again
We have just returned from spending a brilliant week in this lovely flat. Situated right on the beach It is difficult to put into words the wonderful ever-changing seascape including spectacular sunsets. We had sunshine each day but I believe any month and any weather would give a different but equally enjoyable experience. The flat itself offered everything one could wish for. It was clean, nice linen, fluffy towels, a good range of crockery and utensils and comfortable in every way.
Close to the town, one was spoilt for choice of good cafes for breakfast, evening meals or of course a cream tea. (Olives cafe just up the road being particularly good for the latter!) Galleries, potteries and other works of art are at every turn. We particularly enjoyed visiting The Bernard Leach Museum and Pottery and Barbara Hepworth's Garden. The owners of the flat were superb and did everything to make the booking easy and our stay enjoyable. We very much hope to return.
Lovely place to stay, with everything you need, perfect for families! Gorgeous views of the beach! Owners were very kind and helpful, would definitely come back again,
Barnaloft 5 is the perfect place in St. Ives. We (family of 4) really loved staying there.
Located right on the beach as well as in the middle of St. Ives, this apartment is a least as good as the pictures on the Web indicate and has all you need for a great stay. We'll definitely come back!
Fantastic location both for beach and town. We have been visiting St Ives for many years now and this is the best place we have stayed in. On arrival we were blown away by the stunning views from the lounge and main bedroom. We stayed with our two teenage daughters and there was plenty of space for all of us. Apartment tastefully decorated and has everything you need for a comfortable stay - certainly contributed to a very memorable week. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anybody who wants to experience everything that St Ives has to offer.
This was the third time we have used this flat for our holiday in St Ives, and once again it has not disappointed. We absolutely love the flat, it offers everything we could ask for. It is a jump off the balcony and your on the beach and a 2 minute walk into the town. Having the garage is also a plus. If you want to explore, your car is right on your doorstep, however, if you just want to take in everything St Ives has to offer, you do not need to worry about parking.
The flat is beautifully kept, and the attention to detail just makes it perfect. We have noticed a few improvements this time round too, like the drying area for wet clothes next to the water tank and a larger water tank.
I would recommend this flat to anyone, it is suitable for all types of holidays and people, and in fact we have already booked another two weeks next year, and we just can't wait.
Thank you so much.
We have just spent a wonderful week in the apartment.
The first view of the beach at high tide through the lounge window when we arrived was a sight to behold and we spent many hours sitting at the window seat watching the tide change and the wonderful sunsets.
To be so close to the beach and yet only minutes into the centre of St Ives meant that we only used the car on a couple of occasions for trips out and the corner store across the road was an added advantage.
The apartment itself had everything that we required (even sharp kitchen knives - usually lacking in holiday apartments!). Although the weather was distinctly colder than usual for the season, the apartment warmed up quickly once the heaters were on. I would recommend taking slippers or thick socks for the tiled floor!
All in all perfect holiday accommodation.
We wouldn't hesitate in coming here again.
