We are the owners Kevin and Janet who bought the property in 2003 intending to retire to Nailsworth. Over the years we have rented it out and used it ourselves for holidays but are now retired and settled near to London and family so decided to turn it into a holiday let in March 2013. We love to visit whenever we can to enjoy the shops and restaurants in this wonderful little town of Nailsworth and the interesting local villages. We love the lively, friendly ambiance of Nailsworth and have enjoyed refurbishing it and turning it into a comfortable holiday home for ourselves and others. Several guests have commented on the comfort of the beds and how well they sleep in the quiet location. I know that we do! The property has previously been let through an agent and has attracted many excellent reviews both on Tripadvisor and other websites. Unfortunately these are no longer available to view.

Why Janet chose Nailsworth
It is well positioned for touring the pretty villages and countryside but equally ideal if you want to park up, chill out and enjoy the local pubs, restaurants and walks or just relax in the garden. Nailsworth is a very social community with lots going on around the town and further afield. There is something for everyone with or without a car! We hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do. Many alternative holiday lets have opened up recently but few have the benefit of such a superb, central yet quiet location together with private parking. It is ideal for a family gathering with the 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a ground floor cloakroom.
What makes this Cottage unique
Nailsworth is nestled in one of the five valleys with many other properties situated on the hillsides. Maltings is in an enviable position in the heart of the conservation area of Nailsworth offering easy walking access to all amenities. Many properties in the area would require holidaymakers to have the use of a car for all but the keenest walkers. Car parking space is at a premium in Cotswold properties and we have two of them! This property has all the charm of a traditional cotswold cottage but with modern amenities including a ground floor cloakroom, family bathroom and ensuite to the master bedroom. There is a pretty, enclosed courtyard garden with the Nailsworth stream beyond. Although there is a 4 ft picket fence around the garden please be aware that a determined youngster could get over it and the stream is 10ft below! The patio is an ideal location for a restful evening drink in the setting sun. Beyond the garden are trees full of birds and period Cotswold cottages. Otters have recently been spotted in the stream by early risers, although we've not yet been lucky enough to spot one. Our cottage is built on the site of the original Nailsworth Brewery and a recent excavation of the garden to rebuild the ancient Cotswold wall unearthed around 300 beer bottles dated locally to 1897 when the Brewery closed. It really is an unparalleled location!

Wonderful house in a great location
Everything worked well for us
Nice local walks. Central in Nailsworth for good food shops and restaurants.
Lovely property, clean and tidy. Would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
Fantastic Cotswold Base
This is just the best little cottage! Great if traveling with another couple as your bedrooms and bathrooms are on separate floors. We went all over the Cotswolds from our little home base in Nailsworth. We were even able to spend a day in Wales at the Brecon Breacons which was absolutely beautiful. The location of Maltings within Nailsworth was ideal as well. Within short walking distance of everything you could need. So many public footpaths within a short distance of cottage too. My husband is English and really misses public footpaths, so this was a huge selling point to him. The parking spaces were great as well, taking care of a rental car can be a bit stressful, especially in tight village/country lanes. It was a relief to have a worry free parking spot every night. If you’re looking for the best Cotswold pub experience consider a short drive to The Black Horse pub in Amberley Littleworth Stroud. Hands down best pub of our trip. Outdoor seating with sweeping views of quintessential Cotswold countryside. Be prepared for some very tight lanes between stone walls though! Honestly I can’t say enough good about this listing. Communication with the owners was top notch. I have no idea how we did it but we managed to lock ourselves inside the house within minutes of arriving! Janet responded IMMEDIATELY and helped us resolve the issue with a quick tip. That attentiveness is invaluable, especially when traveling in a different country. We will be adding it to our favorites for our next trip to the area!
5 night stay in the Cotswolds
Absolutely lovely place, cottage was lovely and clean, home from home, Nailsworth very friendly people, central location for visiting the likes of bath and Bourton-on-the-Water.👍🏻
Lovely cottage in old Cotswold mill town
Cottage was exactly as described, well appointed, spacious and comfortable in a great location. Plenty of supermarkets, shops and places to eat, great walks and good access to towns and villages in west England (Tetbury, Bath, Stroud, Cirencester) as well as to national trust properties such as Dyrham Park and Stourhead. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, had some lunch very meals out at the Egypt Mill and Williams, and would definitely go back again. Loved it.
Dear Kevin and Julie, thank you so much for this lovely review describing just how perfect Nailsworth is as a base and centre for visiting so much of the Cotswolds. You’ve been the perfect guests. We hope you do decide to visit again one day.
Best wishes, Janet and Kevin
Lovely, lovely place
Lovely property and good places to eat out.
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review. You didn't have the best of weather but at least you were able to make the most of the great choice of cafes and restaurants locally.
So pleased you enjoyed it. We hope you'll visit again.
Best wishes, Janet and Kevin
Nailsworth has a unique range of independent and quirky shops - ideal for browsing with the cottage just a short, flat walk to the nearest amenities. We are about half an hour from the City of Bath and love the Thermae Spa with different spa experiences on each of the 3 floors including the open air rooftop spa overlooking town and countryside.
Another must for us is the famed Shambles Market in Stroud every Saturday morning - lots of fresh local produce and much more.
If it is a fine evening we love going to Coaley Peak, about 3 miles away to watch the sun setting over the Severn Estuary and The Black Mountains of Wales.
Maltings is also within easy reach of Cheltenham and Gatcombe Park for equestrian events.
For horticulturalists Painswick Roccoco gardens are a unique experience and well worth a visit together with The National Arboretum at Westonbirt.
There are extensive walking trails around Nailsworth and across Minchinhampton Common with magnificent views across the 5 valleys.
You are spoilt for choice with local restaurants, pubs and cafes together with regular festivals and events in the locality.
