Overview

About the property

A beautiful home, in a quiet rural setting overlooking the ocean

A beautiful home overlooking Doolin and the Aran Islands with Doonagore Castle close by, welcomes you to the “Wild Atlantic Way”

Located in a cul-de-sac of four houses, traffic is at a minimum and the only sounds being heard are the soft mooing of cows in the adjoining fields and the breaking of Atlantic waves on the shore below.

The views from the house are spectacular, sea and sky, with amazing sunsets over the Aran Islands and Galway Bay.

The house is a stylish cottage conversion designed by the owner, a well- known interior designer, whose family have long established roots in Co.Clare.

The theme of the interior is in keeping with the landscape, reflecting the colours from the rural setting outside. Soft off white walls with oak floors throughout the house creates an atmosphere of relaxed contemporary living.

Over 2800 square feet in size, on three quarters of an acre of manicured gardens, the house amply caters for seven people, both in space and luxury.

It comprises of four large double bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor with views to the sea. Both have ensuite bathrooms, beautifully appointed with stone tiling and mirrored walls to reflect light. One of the ensuites is a "wet room" suitable for the elderly or those with limited mobility.

The main bathroom, also located on the ground floor, is equipped with bath and shower, and is finished to the highest standard.

As with all bathrooms it has underfloor heating.

Kitchen, dining and seating area join seamlessly together to form a central space and are beautifully appointed with large comfortable sofas, soft lighting, rugs and paintings. A wood burning fire in the main living area acts as a focal point and adds to the sense of warmth and cosiness.

Large picturesque windows which line the rear of the house, brings light and sunshine into the open plan living area and reflect the beautiful views around.

Sea Mist has been featured in two prestigious interior design magazines, House Beautiful in May 2015 and Home Interiors and Living in October 2015

If you wish to experience Irish life at it’s best, Sea Mist is the ideal location.

Why Pat O'Donoghue chose Doolin

We bought the old cottage in 2005 and proceeded to convert it into what it is today. The reason why we did this was because my father in law came for County Clare and my wife spent all her holidays in this very special and spiritual area.

What makes this cottage unique

The property was an old derelict cottage located on a quiet cul-de-sac with spectacular views all round.

Named Sea Mist, it is situated on the southern side of the famous Cliffs of Moher, and 2 km from the village of Doolin known worldwide as the cradle of traditional Irish music.

The Burren, one of the largest exposed limestone areas in Europe, is within easy reach of the house and is a haven for walkers and anyone interested in nature.

We fell in love with the cottage and it's beautiful location, as soon as we came across it.

We continue to enjoy it with our friends and family, as indeed, we know you will.

Visit the Cliffs of Moher Ireland's tallest cliffs and 2nd most popular tourist attraction is a short 10 minute drive from the house. Also a must see is the Burren the largest limestone area in Europe where Mediterranean and Alpine flowers bloom together. It's karst landscape of glacial-era limestone, with cliffs and caves, fossils rock formations and archaeological sites are worth seeing.

The quaint village of Doolin is very close by where you can enjoy good food and it a renowned centre for traditional Irish music in pubs such as O'Connors, Maganns, and McDermotts.

There are two excellent upmarket restaurants in Doolin that we would recommend and they are Cullinans and The Roadfort House.

At Doolin harbour you can take a ferry to the Aran Islands or see the Cliffs of Moher from the sea.

There is a walk along the cliffs which is 14 klm long but you can take it in stages if you prefer but it is a wonderful experience. You can also go on an accompanied walk with Pat Sweeney who will fill you in on all aspects during the walk.
