Chrismos Apartments is a terrific holiday choice if you wish to avoid noisy crowds. Car hire is perhaps recommended for at least part of your stay, to enable you to more easily access the bars, restaurants and shops of the nearest resort of Kassiopi, 3.5km away. Distance from Corfu town, port and airport about 39 km. the Pantokrator Mt. is breathtaking. The whole northern coast and its villages on your feet. Among its secrets the mountain keeps the Fountains of the Nymphes, the Waterfalls of Cyprianadesand the Caves in Loutses and Klimatia. Uphill in the bosom of Pantokrator Mt, the Old Perithia. An excellent specimen of architecture and measure, the village with the stone mansions, numerous churches and mystic alleys, retains its charm and the aura of the Venetian era intact.
The Monastery of Pantokrator, built on the mountaintop in 1347, was totally ruined in the 16th century. The present church was built at the same place, in late 17th century. The Askitario in the village of Nymphes is one of the oldest Christian monuments. The temple of the Crucifix (Estavromenos Monastery), in the same area, is a church unique in its Byzantine style. The Monastery of Ag.Triada in Klimatia, on a site with panoramic view, has served as a place for worship since the 15thcentury.
The Temple of Apollo in Roda, of Doric style, parts of which are accommodated in the Archeological Museum, dates to the 5th century BC. The Roman Baths in Acharavi indicate inhabitance of the region since the 3rd century. Just at the opposite side of the road in the ‘Folklore Museum of Acharavi’ , the owner and visionary creator, Mr. Spyros Vlachos, has been collecting, maintaining and promoting with endless joy, local folk objects for the last 25 years. These objects reflect the civilization of which they are the fruit and lead us to a trip in time with the scent of the last three centuries of Corfiot history.
Classified as a “Natura 2000” protected area, a landscape of unique natural beauty, the wider region of Antinioti lagoon is a dream place for quiet walks, with the scent of eucalyptus, pine and sea saltiness.
