Writer's Retreat is a spacious 200 year old two bed miner's cottage in the heart of Calstock.
Hello, this is our Second year offering ‘Writer's Retreat’ to the public for rental. We are excited to greet our new friends and introduce them to the Calstock / Cornwall life style. Our cottage is a fully renovated 2 bedroom traditional miner’s cottage, in a spectacular riverside ‘Area of Natural Beauty’. We have made significant improvements to our cottage this year, and we would like to thank our guests from last year who gave us excellent feed back.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a single pull-out bed in the second bedroom and in the lounge a double futon mattress, see photos.
The cottage is set back from the street so it is quiet and private. Calstock village is a traditional fishing & mining village nestled above the beautiful River Tamar. Cobbled streets, quaint and quirky cottages, tea-room, gallery, art centre, sewing shop, and boat yard are on your doorstep.
There are two public houses, one of which centres on cook to order fine cuisine, whilst the other provides quality food and entertainment. Abundant woodland and riverside-walks surround Calstock, including the trail to the National Trust's Cothele House, which is a thirty minute stroll away. There is an ancient Viaduct spanning the river, frequent bus and train services connect to the outside world. If you managed to watch the TV Drama, "Delicious", you will recognise this wonderful village.
Most importantly: This is our home, it is a place of Art, Creativity and Music. We welcome you, and ask you to please treat it as you would your own.
PLEASE NOTE: There is No TV on the premises, but there is free high speed Wifi.
