About this property

In central BAROLO - Private Apt w/Huge Terrace w/ 360 degree views of vineyards!

TorreBarolo is one of a kind! It is a renovated 19th century tower that is in the center of Barolo, which is in the heart of the Langhe Valley. You are truly spoiled for choice with all the wineries, restaurants and wine shops that are just a few minute walk from TorreBarolo.
Barolo is also the perfect location if you want to do lots of touring in the Langhe as it is just a 10 min drive to many of the most scenic and noteworthy wine producing hill top towns such as La Morra and Monforte D'Alba. A short 15 min drive from Barolo brings you into Alba, a charming cobble stone medieval city with Michelin star restaurants, fantastic weekend markets, great food and fashion stores and an excellent tourist center to ensure you take advantage of everything the Langhe has to offer.
But when you are done touring for the day and are ready for some privacy where you can uncork some wine and slice up the local salumi you bought, then TorreBarolo's roof top terrace gives you the ultimate setting to sit back, sip and take it all in.

From TorreBarolo's elevated position in the village (2nd tallest building in town after the Castle), you enjoy sweeping views of the vineyards and medieval hill top towns that contribute to the charm of the Langhe Valley. In 2014, the Langhe and surrounding areas were appointed a UNESCO Heritage location.

The property offers you 3 levels of living space and stone stairs must be climbed to go to each of the 3 levels. If you are not comfortable climbing stairs, then this might not be the right property for you.

IMPORTANT: As this is a tower, rooms are on different levels. The bathrooms are ensuite to the bedrooms and are located one level down from the living room/kitchen.

LEVEL ONE: Both bedrooms are on the same level but separated by stair cases so as they are not adjacent and they provide privacy for the occupants.

PRIMARY BEDROOM: Upon entering the property, you turn left up 2 small flight of stairs to access the primary bedroom. There is a beautiful view through the windows and french doors to the vineyards. Via the french doors you access a balcony that overlooks the cobblestone communal courtyard. This room sleeps 2. There is a Queen size bed, small free standing wardrobe (not closet) , and there is an ensuite bathroom. In the bathroom, there is a narrow shower, a bidet, a toilet and a sink. PLEASE NOTE: There is NO Air conditioning in the primary bedroom.

SECONDARY BEDROOM: Upon entering the property, you turn right up one small flight of stairs, but the opposite direction of the primary bedroom, is the secondary bedroom with 2 twin beds that 99% of the time are put together but can be separated on request. There is a large closet with two small cupboard. There is a small ensuite bathroom with small/narrow shower, sink, bidet and toilet. This room DOES HAVE air-conditioning wall unit.

2nd FLOOR - LIVING AREA/KITCHEN: Open plan living/dining/kitchen area with six floor-to-ceiling French doors providing stunning views of the environs. There is a side terrace off this floor, where a table and 2 benches enable you to enjoy al fresco cocktails and meals. Half a flight of stairs up from the living area, there is a mezzanine, where there is a 42' flat screen TV to watch a small library of DVDs and a desk and chair where you can use your laptop as the property offers broadband internet access (ADSL), either via Ethernet cable or WiFi. There is a large air-conditioning wall unit in the living room/kitchen.

3rd FLOOR - ROOF TERRACE: This is the most breathtaking feature of the tower. During your stay you will have exclusive use of the roof terrace that consists of comfortable outdoor furniture and an umbrella to shield the sun on warm summer days.

STYLE: Although the tower was refurbished with an eye to maintaining many of its historic features (ie, terra cotta floors, stone steps, arched window), many of the fittings and furniture are contemporary in design.

There is no doubt the Langhe is a "must" for foodie and wine lovers but the area also offers many wonderful outdoor activities including cycling, hiking, golf and skiing in the winter.

Barolo is easy to access with large international airports in both Genoa and Turin, which are both just about an hour away, while Milan is two hours away. Barolo is only a short 20 min to the A6 Autostrada which within 1 hour you can reach the beaches of the Italian Riviera while the mountains on the border with France are about a 90 minute drive to the west.

When in Barolo drink wine
This is a lovely and quirky apartment in the center of Barolo a small village is the Piedmont region. Barolo is all about wine and the location is superb for both exploring the town of Barolo and a 10 minute drive to La Morra. The views from the apartment are breathtaking. The apartment is all about the stairs. Down to the bedroom and up to the living room and up again to the beautiful patio. Don’t let the stairs deter you, worth every step and a good way to stay in shape while you are experiencing the local dining and wine tasting.

Truly Special
Torre Barolo is a very unique property. Centrally located in the heart of the charming town of Barolo. It offers a panoramic view of the gorgeous countryside from every window and a spectacular roof top terrace. Clean and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. Be mindful that there are four different levels connected by stairs. We found it to be a perfect base for exploring the Langhe wine region.

Lots of Stairs
Great location but would have appreciated clearer disclosure of the number of stairways that had to be navigated. It can be an issue for older folks with luggage.

Hi. I having been coming to the Langhe since 1998. I used to live in London so it wasn't so crazy to buy a vacation property in my favorite place on earth. Then in 2009, I ended up marrying an Italian who wanted to live in the US. I love my tower and will never give it up, and so I rent it out so that it gets used by other people who can enjoy it as much as I do.

Why they chose this property

I have been fortunate to travel the world but every time I go to Barolo and sit on my roof terrace it takes my breath away. And in the 18 years I have owned my tower, there are so many events that have become staples of the seasons. There are music festivals that draw some pretty amazing performers. Then of course there are the food and wine festivals. The region is excellent in supplying information in English on the regional tourist website about all these events. The biggest is in October and November and centers around the harvest of the white Alba truffle.
My property is my home and you get the entire 3 floors all to yourself. You are in the historic center of Barolo and all shops and restaurants are all accessible within a few minutes walk. There are lots of stairs in the property but in the 13 years most comments say they appreciate the stairs as it helps offset to all the food and wine consumed.
Barolo is in the countryside but an easy 15 min to ALBA and an easy 20 min from the Autostrada therefore making it a very perfect location for touring both in the Langhe and Piemonte and Liguria.

What makes this property unique

An 19th century tower that is the 2nd tallest building in the town (after the Castle) which offers complete privacy yet is in the center of the most important wine town in the Langhe, and some could argue in Italy. From every window the views are breathtaking but it is the huge roof terrace that will take your breadth away and have you coming back year after year. To have this privacy and views and still be steps away from excellent restaurants, entotecas and wineries, TorreBarolo offers it all.
