Ground Floor apartment located in Nador Street, in the prestigious, central area of District 5. After passing through the shabby chic charm of a typical 19th century Hungarian courtyard, you reach our cosy apartment which has been renovated in a sympathetic fashion; keeping some special features such as the vaulted brick ceiling, whilst furnishing and equipping it to an excellent modern standard. The accommodation is spread over two floors, with the kitchen, eating and living area downstairs, and the spacious bedroom upstairs. There are several dozens of restaurants close by, from inexpensive all the way to first class international cuisine. In fact you are only two minutes away from some of the best and most popular restaurants in Budapest including the Michelin star rated Borkonyha (Wine Kitchen). All forms of public transport -metro, tram and bus are also in the immediate area. The Danube and the beautiful Chain Bridge are a 1 minute walk, and you can visit all the top Budapest attractions on foot. Our English speaking taxi driver can meet you at the airport or train station and take you to the apartment.

About Bridgett Gill
Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our sixties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and a registered charity. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!
Bridgett Gill purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Bridgett Gill chose Lipótváros
Why we chose this location: Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves! We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment was a former stables and we have preserved the vaulted brick ceiling which is a unique feature. Being on the ground floor the apartment could have been cold in the winter, so we have added underfloor hearing and have put 3 inch insulation on the walls, making it really cosy when it is chilly outside.

Fab stay in excellent location
My friend and myself had a brilliant stay in Bridgett’s flat, it was the perfect location - we walked everywhere- and was clean, tidy and made the most of the small floor space. Attila was very helpful and Bridgett always answered my questions quickly. Thanks for the lovely stay, we loved Budapest!
Lovely to hear you had a good time, the location of the apartment really does make it easy to walk to the sites and the metro and tram. Thank you very much for the review an please do come again!
Great unit, great location
Cozy little apartment with character. Helpful info in the guest book as well as maps, info books. Easy to get into the unit. Owner was highly communicative. Great location!!!
Thank you so much for writing! We love the apartment as well and we were lucky to find such a great location near the Chain Bridge and the Basilica.
Central efficient and charming
We booked this adorable small apartment for 3 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer! The apartment is clean, quiet, charming, and centrally located in a good neighborhood. The Four Seasons was around the corner, if you get my meaning. The bed was comfortable and everything was in good working order. Our greeter and taxi driver Atilla was very thorough and polite making our introduction to the apartment and Budapest an easy transition. I would recommend staying here to my friends in fact I already have!
Than you so much for writing, it's really good to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much, and thank you very much for recommending he apartment to friends!
A little gem in a great location
Apartment is located 2 minutes walk from the Danube and around 5 mins from Deák Ferenc metro station so accessing was no problem. There are numerous bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity and in our experience the standard of food was excellent.
The apartment itself was clean and exactly as described in the advert. The size is perfect for 2 people to stay comfortably and has all amenities required for self catering if required. The upstairs bedroom area is beautiful and comfortable with a large double bed and ample storage. The stairwell leading to the bedroom is narrow and steep. This was no problem for us but may prove problematic for those with reduced mobility or are very overweight.
My only very minor criticism would be the lack of a formal air conditioning unit. There is a fan in the bedroom which can provide some relief but when the air temperature is 30 degrees and above I feel a portable or fixed AC unit may make the apartment temperature more comfortable.
Overall a fantastic little apartment in a great location and at a very reasonable price. Will be staying here again if I return to Budapest.
A great, quaint apartment
I had an amazing time staying here with my friend. It was very clean and the owner generously provided a guide with nearby restaurants and attractions! I would definitely recommend to any two people traveling to Budapest.
Great to hear you enjoyed Budapest and the apartment so much, thanks for leaving the review and many thanks for the recommendation!
Right in the middle of everything.
Very cosy. Had everything we needed.
Thank you very much for writing and I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay!
The apartment is in the perfect location, near the Basilica in the prestigious District 5. All the top tourist attractions are within an easy 10 min walking distance, including the Opera House, Parliament, National Art Museum, Castle District and the funicular railway, the Famous Chain Bridge and the Vaci Utca shopping street. It is also close to a supermarket and a covered market where you can by excellent fresh produce. It is also, very importantly, only 2 mins walk from some very good bars and restaurants; the Hungarians have some really excellent wine and food! The nearest metro station is 5 mins walk away, and bus and tram stops are 2 mins away. The apartment is also close to the street which houses all the prime antique shops specialising in Biedermeier and Art Deco furniture. Budapest is regaining its former glory, there is street after street of fabulous architecture, many buildings are fully renovated and many still have their rather shabby-chique charm.
This is apartment is for one or two adults only, it is not suitable for children.
