The Haven is in close proximity to city of Bozeman. ON Bridger Canyon Road, 10-15 minutes away from Bridger Bowl Ski Area. It is 1 hour from Big Sky Ski Resort. The haven is on 150 acres of hay fields, cottonwood trees, and tree covered hills with wildlife of deer, possible moose, elk and mountain lions with the Bridger Creek running through it. Go on excursions to Big Sky, Yellowstone Park or hike the numerous trails in the area. Fly fishing mecca everywhere. Bring your bike or kayak, those are always options. The trail heads to the "M" and to Drinking Horse Haven are within walking distance of the property. Go tubing down the Madison, or the local creek for that matter. The Haven is a 3 level cedar home with a prow of glass overlooking the Bridger Creek. The top two levels are for the vacation home, with family possible in the basement. There are barns, and hay sheds and some regular rentals just below the hill where the Haven sits. There is a loft with a NEW King sized bed that overlooks the open floor plan of the kitchen and livingroom. Those all gaze into the tall glass prow of the home, illuminating the Bridger Mountains and Drinking Horse Mountain. There are 2 bedrooms down on the main level with a NEW queen bed and 2 full bathrooms, one on the main level and the other up in the loft. A porch surrounds the outside of the home and allows quiet moments of enjoyment to enjoy friends or hear the wind in the cottonwood trees. Wi-Fi and a smart TV are a newly installed amenity. A fully functional kitchen can aid in home cooked meals and gathering of friends and family. A BBQ grill sits on porch for summer grilling. Keurig coffee machine awaits the morning sunshine. There is an iron, and ironing board. Hair drier in bathrooms.
There is a Pack 'n Play and a Gerry Pack for the baby kiddos. There are 5 fanny packs for your convenience for day hiking.
For winter months, there are 6 pairs of snow shoes available for our guests to enjoy, as well as 6 inner tubes for sledding the hills behind the house.
Decorated with cedar log beds and furniture gives the home a western flare and home comfort. Secluded at the end of the road, rustic style and serenity. Immerse yourself in the lifestyle of Montana. We just ask that you leave happy.

Hi!! I'm Linda Meuret. I grew up on the ranch where the Drinking Horse Haven is located. It is the original ranch building of the ranch that spread over the whole base of the mouth of Bridger Canyon. WE often would ride our horses up to the big "M" on the mountain and the "B" on the foothills to the northwest. Now the ranch has been divided up and on the north side of Bridger Canyon Road are million dollar homes and properties. Our property stands as an oasis of the original land. Hay fields and hills and wildlife thrive there. Often moose, elk, deer, mountain lions and even bears use the property as a wild life corridor.
We raised and showed Arabian Horses for years. Western, English, Arabian Costume, reining, trail classes, showmanship, 4-H were our activities with the horses. We often had adventurers by going on packtrips into the surrounding mountains of Montana and Wyoming. WE skiied at Bridger Bowl when it was only a rope tow. We snowmobiled and hiked and camped.
Our family was very musical, as I am a professional violinist as well as owning a music school where I teach violin, viola and cello and have 3 string ensembles. We all played instruments and had a family orchestra with my grandfather leading on his violin and grandma was at the piano.
Linda Meuret- Owner/Property Manager purchased this chateau / country house in 1956
It is not very often that a jewel of a place is available to visit and stay. The Bridger Mountains and the "M" tower over the property and loom majestically. Our father was a doctor and he had to be within 10 minutes of the hospital. This property fit the circumstance. It is a an unusual property with the close proximity to Bozeman, but yet is so secluded and private that you feel like it's your own haven, with the creek flowing through and all the wildlife that frequents the place. The huge old cottonwoods and an old, old weeping willow that is the grandfathers of all weeping willows are down by the creek.
The wrap around porch on the Haven is such a wonderful place to pull out the camping chairs and visit or just grab a cup of coffee and drink it all in, the views, the wind in the cottonwoods below and the view of the Bridger Mountains and the big "M" on the mountain. There is the Fish Hatchery right there that one can walk to, besides the trail heads that are within walking distance. You can see the fisheries and the fish in the pond and even feed the fish.
This cabin is in a great location, close to Bozeman to go eat and shop and also close to skiing. There was excellent hiking and sledding. The place was stocked with towels, blankets and has lots of room for sleeping. The appliances are all up date--nice washing machine! Amazing views. Just loved it.
Remote enough to let the dog off leash for hikes and splashing in the creek, yet close enough to run into town for so many great dinner options! The house is open and spacious with beautiful views. Nicely furnished and well equipped. Thanks for sharing your home and making it dog friendly!
We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely property. It is the nicest vacation rental by owner we have ever stayed at. This chalet type place was furnished with everything one would need with a nice deck surrounding the property with great views. Two of the bedrooms had extra beds for families to use plus pack n plays. This property was in a quiet location with a short drive to Bozeman. It was conveniently located for all the hikes that we did. The owner even provided several smaller waist backpacks for our use. Two of the hikes were within walking distance of this "Drinking Horse Haven." We would definitely stay here again the next time we go back to Bozeman.
We had a wonderful time. Very comfortable with a great view. Just minutes from Bozeman.
I minor inconvenience, but no big deal.
We will definitely try to stay again the next time we are in the area.
Drinking Horse Haven was a beautiful place to spend a week. We loved the hikes and views, and only wish we had more time for playing on the property. The birding was really great from both the deck and all around the ranch, especially the stream.
During our visit, we had up to 8 people stay at the house. We all fit in well without feeling crowded. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed.
But the real reason we were there was to host a wedding in the meadow by the bridge. The day before, four of us baked 10 pies for the reception -- we had plenty of room and didn't get in each other's way. The bridal party used the loft to get ready -- it had ample space and the photos are perfect. The setting for the ceremony was stunningly beautiful. The area by the house fit 80 perfectly for the reception, and when the wind blew up that evening, about 20 people partied on inside. Milo was extraordinary -- he was there to help, frequently showing up just when we needed him.
Beautiful location, super clean and comfortable. The house is very well kept and accommodating. We loved the giant windows all around and the balcony. This house has absolutely everything to make you feel at home. Plenty of fluffy towels and soft linens. We had a family gathering and there were extra folding tables and chairs in the house for us to use. Plenty of silverware, dishes and a fully stocked clean kitchen with nice appliances. Milo is not far if you need help with anything in the house. The neighbors were super welcoming and friendly. The view of the sunset is amazing. Trailhead to hike the M is just steps away. Creek side fishing and playing in the water was fun for everyone. The ride to town is only a couple of minutes away. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Really, your imagination is your guide. Look around and see what beauty there is in Montana as you are based in a convenient and localized location at the Drinking Horse Haven.
