Porters Court, accessed via a security gate, is in a peaceful and tranquil setting, yet right in the heart of the west coast of Barbados. A fabulous safe, sandy beach, one of the best on the island, restaurants and bars are all a 4 minute stroll away (door to beach). The fabulous and famous Lone Star is a 5 minute walk away and they serve cocktails, breakfast, lunch and dinner. JuJus and Santi, both beach bars, serve lunches, early suppers and sundowners and both are 5 minute walk away. Porters Court is opposite the Royal Fairmount Hotel – with its good restaurant and bar – again perfect for sundowners.

Holetown has a large, newly refurbished supermarket (selling some Waitrose items), an excellent local butcher, fruit and veg stalls, restaurants, bars, beach cinema and shopping – from international designer shops to shops selling local handicrafts and clothing. A 25 min walk or 5 min drive / bus journey away.

Speightstown to the north is about 10 minute drive/bus journey away and has a more traditional feel with a range of shops, bars, restaurants and of course – a beach.

The Sandy Lane golf course is about 4 miles away and other local courses include Westmoreland and Apes Hill.

There is no need to hire a car because you can catch the local bus from a bus stop on the main road 2 minutes walk away (via private path) from Porters Court. Buses are frequent during the day and early evening and run from Speightstown in the north to Bridgetown and beyond in the south. Local buses are great fun and cheap ($2 Bbd for any distance) and will take you to most places on the island. If you decide to hire a car, the villa has its own free parking space, right outside the front door. A car can be delivered to the villa or be collected from the airport.

A team of people work hard to keep Sandy Lodge looking lovely and to welcome you to your holiday home. We can arrange to get shopping before your arrival . Our housekeeper will make sure that the villa is clean and well equipped during your stay. We provide cleaning and fresh linen and towels before your stay and weekly during visits of 10 days or longer. If you require more frequent cleaning this too can be arranged for you, at a small extra cost.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy all that this lovely part of the world has to offer.

About Richard & Angela

Welcome to Sandy Lodge!

Thank you for your interest in our villa.

Please do contact us by email or mobile (text if you get no reply) if you have any questions regarding availability and pricing. We will do all we can to help. Our website www.staybarbados.co.uk has a lot of information about our villa and the beautiful island of Barbados.

We love the island - the people, the laid back feel, the beaches and the wide range of things you can do on the island. Barbados is a very easy place to holiday - nowhere is too far, nothing is too much trouble!

We look forward to welcoming you to Barbados!

Richard & Angela purchased this villa in 2016

Why Richard & Angela chose Porters

We really liked this property because not only is it poolside, but in a traditional chattel style design. We have a lovely veranda, perfect for relaxing, chatting and drinking a cool beer - well that's what we do!

Our villa is surrounded by beautiful, well cared for tropical gardens and in a well run and small development, which is secure.

We were also attracted by our villa's fabulous location. Porters Court enjoys the best of both worlds - within a peaceful and tranquil garden yet just 4 minutes walk from a beautiful sandy beach with bars and restaurants. Lone Star and JuJus are two well known bars and restaurants and are a 5 minute stroll away.

You do not need to hire a car as the shops, beaches, bars and restaurants of Holetown are a 5 minute bus ride away. Speightstown is a 10 minute bus ride away. The bus stop - with frequent buses - is a 2 minute walk from Sandy Lodge.

We want you to feel as at home as we do and we have furnished and equipped our villa in a contemporary style with quality finishes to make you feel comfortable and relaxed and have all you require for a safe and very enjoyable holiday.

What makes this villa unique

Not only is our villa in a fabulous location but we feel very fortunate to have a superb, small team of people - Property Manager, Housekeeper, Maintenance man and Gardener - who look after us and who will look after you too!

All members of our small team are there to make sure you have a comfortable, relaxing, safe and very happy holiday.

Perfect rental villa in perfect Barbados location

  • 5 of 5

My two teenagers and I stayed at Porters Court for Easter week and our holiday was great from beginning to end. Nicola, the owner, is super responsive and helpful before and during and after the stay. The property manager, Jeanine, is a dream come true -- she helped pre-arrange all sorts of things including grocery delivery before we arrived (order the banana bread -- her mother home-bakes it and it is delicious!), transport to and from the airport, a rental car to be delivered to and picked up from the villa, and a snorkeling cruise on our last day. She offered great suggestions on restaurants, shopping, things to do, local culture, the villa, beaches, places to go and things to see, etc. The villa itself is fresh and perfectly appointed - everything felt new and clean and thoughtfully provided. No need to bring bedding or towels -- hi quality bedding and bath towels and a good supply of lovely beach towels are there (and with the washer and dryer in the laundry room we could wash and dry laundry and beach towels as needed thru the week). The housekeeper cleaned only once during the week for us as much of the week was Easter holidays, but she was efficient and pleasant and did a good job. The grounds are private, secure, quiet, and beautiful. The pool, shared by only 7 other similar villas, is literally steps from the porch of Sandy Lodge and while the pool area is plenty big for sharing with other residents (some of whom were owners and some were renters like us), we hardly ever saw others wanting to use it at the same time that we did. A secure, gated and lit path leads from the pool to the road-crossing that leads to beautiful Alleynes Beach -- a 5 minute walk to the water at the most! Alleynes Beach is the perfect combination of beautiful, natural Caribbean beach and a bit of development so that there are watersport and lounger rentals available, and good food and drink (ranging from reasonable to WOW in price) right there on the beach. Porters Court is perfectly located -- you can walk to various bars and restaurants in minutes and Holetown, Speightstown and other destinations are a only a quick and easy drive away. We had a lovely, easy, fun and relaxing holiday and would not hesitate to recommend this villa to others!

Fabulous villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5

4 Porters court is a fabulous villa in a gated community centred around a lovely pool, yet still only a few minutes from a fantastic beach.

Villa was beautifully maintained with every mod con you could want for your stay and only steps from the pool are.

Only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Hometown with shops, restaurants etc of if you are feeling adventurous, at the end of the path flag down a reggae bus for a quick and often lively trip to Hometown, Speightstown, Bridgetown etc.

It was our first trip to Barbados and loved the island, the villa and the local life and will be returning to visit all 3 again in the future.

After staying at this villa in 2016, we re-booked for Nov 2017. This tastefully furnished property makes self-catering easy as it is immaculate and very well appointed. We had a fantastic time and are looking to return in 2018.

Everything you need for a truly relaxing time

  • 5 of 5

Sandy Lodge offers everything you need, whether you have come to Barbados to chill out or to explore the riches of this fascinating island. The bedrooms are spacious, with en-suite facilities. The large, open-plan living area provides ample room to chat, watch TV or read (there is even a selection of books provided). WIFI is available. The kitchen is well-stocked with appliances and there is a separate, enclosed laundry area.

We tended to go exploring in the morning, returning to relax by the pool in the afternoon, followed by a pre-dinner rum punch at Ju Ju’s on nearby Alleynes beach, looking out over the Caribbean. For dinner, we would generally self-cater (there is a barbecue on the verandah) or eat out at one of the local restaurants. Sight-seeing highlights included Hunte’s Gardens, St Nicholas Abbey plantation house and a rum-tasting at the Foursquare distillery. Sports-lovers can take a reggae bus down to Bridgetown for a day of cricket at the Kensington Oval or an afternoon at the races.

A wonderful holiday in a charming and tranquil villa. Visit and you will return home truly chilled.

Sandy Lodge is a very short stroll to a safe, sandy beach, bars and restaurants (both casual and more formal).

Lone Star and The Royal Fairmont are more formal restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They both have beautiful terraces directly overlooking the beach and offer 'fine dining'. Reservations required.

JuJus and Santi are casual places to eat, offering local food in an informal style. JuJus is actually on the beach and your table will be on the beach and Santi is on the beach, but tables are on a terrace. Both close early evening.

All the above are great places for a cold beer or a rum punch and all except Lone Star have happy hours too! They are all wonderful at sunset. Santi has live music late afternoon and early evening on a Sunday.

The beach offers all sorts of water sports and you can hire sunbed and umbrellas. Sandy Lodge does have two beach chairs and an umbrella.

There is a bus stop 1 min walk away with frequent buses (including the famous reggae buses) from early morning to early evening. Buses run in the evening but are less frequent. Buses from our local stop, go to Bridgetown, Speightstown and Oistens.

Car hire and driving in Barbados is very straightforward. Ask Nicola for information.

Holetown is a 5-10 min drive / bus journey or a 25 min walk. Here you will find shops to buy groceries (including a new upmarket supermarket due to open in November 2017), designer shops in the Limegrove Centre, visit gift shops in the chattel village, go to the cinema, and enjoy the many bars and restaurants.

Speightstown has a more traditional feel and has a lovely beach, shops, bars and restaurants. It is a great place for a browse and stop for a drink.

Bridgetown is about a 20-25 min drive in either the car or on the bus. Here you will find many shops, bars and restaurants. You can visit Mount Gay rum distillery, The Kensington Oval cricket ground and museum, The Barbadian Parliament and the UNESCO world heritage site around the Garrison.

Barbados has many attractions and all are a short drive

or bus ride away. If travelling by bus, you might need to change buses - ask at either Bridgetown or Speightstown bus stations. Attractions include:

Mullins Beach - 7-10 mins away - easy on the bus

Animal Flower Cave - with great restaurant for lunch - 25 mins away

Bathsheba - 35-40 mins away - see the east coast and have lunch at Dinas

Huntes Gardens - just beautiful - 20 mins away

Harrisons Cave and Welchmans Gully - 30 mins away

St Nicholas Abbey - a plantation house with rum distillery - 30 mins away - learn about Barbadian history

Loads of beaches - a very short drive away.

Sandy Lodge is perfectly located to see all Barbados has to offer - whether you have a car or are using local transport.
