Irish cottage, 2 ensuite bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, walled garden.
My name is Josie I was born and lived in Killaderry Daingean until I was 18 years old. I then travelled and moved to the Uk. Having a large family I have sent a lot of time traveling back & forh to my home town. Having always wanted to renovate an old house this lovely old cottage came to the market 2 years ago. My husband & I with the help of lovely friends completed the renovations last year which we are extremely proud of.
Josie purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Josie chose Daingean
As a child going to school I would pass this lovely old cottage and wish I could live in it never thinking I would be luck enough to do just that.
What makes this Cottage unique
My attraction to this unique cottage was how small it looked from the outside with its small doorways but inside it has amazing quirky features.

The Gate House - Lovely and quaint
If you want to get to know the Irish people, and their hospitality, then enjoying a stay in Josie and Paul's quaint and modernized little cottage is a great choice. It is a bit remote, an hour + from Dublin and located in the heart of the midlands in the small village of Daingean. It's a short trip to Tullamore, where you'll find the shopping for food and other needs.
The Gate House is comfortable with all the modern amenities, while striving to maintain its quaint country cottage feel. It was a good place to use as "home base" as we drove around the Irish countryside on day trips each day.
We were two couples traveling for the first time to Ireland. The "locals" - Castle Barna's golf course and pub staff - Evelyn and Kerrie, were so welcoming and helpful. Castle Barna is just a short walk across the street from the cottage and down the road which borders the canal. The men enjoyed a game of golf there and we all enjoyed a Guiness (or two!) and got to know some other local folks as well.
Josie, the cottage owner, was in touch when we arrived and always available to us the few times we had questions - like what is "the hob"?! Thanks to Josie and Paul for making our first stay in Ireland a great and memorable one!
