5 bedroom 5 bathroom designer bunk room - 1400 meters high well equipped

Stunning mountain retreat- magnificent views. 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom, designer bunk room. 4000ft above sea level. This property is furnished to a fabulous standard, the lounge has a log fire and comfy couches, the kitchen is fully equipped with balconies leading onto a barbecue area which has magnificent views over the Dolomites. All rooms have balconies and are en suite with well equipped bathrooms both with bath and shower. The beds are of the highest standard as are the bed linens. All beds are super king, however the bunk room which is tastefully decorated in the Ladino style has four full size single beds which are 3ft wide by 6ft 6ins long, which will also accommodate adults as well as children. This room has a seperate bathroom with shower bidet, and sink. There is a ski boot room, with boot warmer, and outside there is lots of parking. About Roger Smith

Harmony, fun, relaxing great energy. We built this house from new, ten years ago, it is a great and relaxing place for summer and winter, you can enjoy the ski resorts and great walking in the area, and the village Ortisai has a great selection of shopping and resturents.

Roger Smith purchased this villa in 1998

Why Roger Smith chose Bolzano/South Tyrol

Its the best property that is over the clouds and the house is in the sun all day.

What makes this villa unique

Its the best, simple has that.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Sal booked Pinaid: 17-24 January 2016, via Airbnb, so we cut and paste his review: Words are not enough to describe this beautiful house, one have to see it to appreciate its beauty. As you walk into the front door, you are met with an amazing beautiful energy, so comforting and so tranquil. The house is very luxurious and comfortable in every sense. The kitchen and dining room area is well stocked with everything one can think of and the sitting room was spacious and beautifully cozy. Bedrooms are specious and the beds were comfortable. The whole house vibrated with warm positive energy. The balcony views from the bedrooms and dinning/sitting areas were amazing. Annie the house caretaker is only minutes away to all our inquiries (Thank you Annie for everything). Travelling by car to Val de Gardina is around 20 minutes and you are at the ski slopes. I would recommend this house to anyone who appreciates beauty, comfort and tranquility.

Lovely house, greedy owner

  • 2 of 5

This is a lovely, spacious cottage in the dolomite alps, traditionally furnished with nice views of alpine meadows. Many stuffed animal heads which one may find a bit eery, we did not mind.

One caveat is supermarkets far away (30 minutes drive), so if you want to stay in and cook- this is a problem.

Wifi was slow, most times did not work. It totally dropped after a thunderstorm, and it took 3 days and several emails to the owner to get it fixed.

There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, however it was locked and the maid requested 50 euros to leave it open for us . Laundry was indeed not one of the facilities listed, so we did not argue.

Damage deposit was not refunded until after one month I sent an email requesting our refund back. Then 20% of the deposit were deducted for the credit card fee. This did not happen for another booking we made just after this one, so made us upset.

Overall, this house could have earned 4 stars if it weren't for the bad service.

Very nice house with great views, roomy and comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

The house is situated near the end of a narrow road going up from the small village of St. Peter. There are three stories with several nice bedrooms and bathrooms and a large common room and kitchen. The place is very well equipped and the views are spectacular. WiFi is ok (a bit weak). Its a great base for trips in the area. What is missing: there are no large external play areas (court or garden, and not many internal play facilities (e.g., pool or table tennis). So there is not much to do for younger kids. On site help and advice you can get from Annie the housekeeper which is very nice and helpful, but speaks almost no english - if you are not fluent in either German or Italian, you need to take this into account. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Could not have been better.

  • 5 of 5

The house, location, and views exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was superbly equipped and the attached balconies, where we often sat either drinking coffee or wine, offered ever changing views of the valley and mountains depending on the time of day. To fight off the evening chill we availed ourselves of the kachelofen in the living room. A great way to relax before going to bed. The narrow winding roads require caution and a willingness to stop and back up when meeting an oncoming vehicle at one of the blind curves. Not having access to the laundry could be a problem if you are planning to stay for longer than a week or so. We were two couples and, since the house has three floors, there was more than enough room for privacy. Bolzano, Merano, and the wine growing areas are within easy reach as is Trento, a real gem, for day trips. Do not miss Brixen or Neustift, which is located just a few kilometers from Brixen. Could not provide a higher recommendation for a group of people or large family who enjoy nature, do not mind a little driving, and welcome being far from the madding crowd.

Once again we have spent a wonderful week skiing in the Dolomites , based at this great property . It was a joy to come back to at the end of the day . Luxurious with the most comfortable beds in the world .

A big thank you to Annie who looks after the house , always on call for any issues.

We look forward to the next time.

Beautiful comfortable home with great views of Val Gardena

  • 4 of 5

This was our 2nd visit to Pinaid. What really draws us in is the kitchen.... amazing place to relax, eat, and share memories after a day on the slopes. All of the bedrooms are very luxurious and comfortable too. The living room is great too, although we didn't use it much. St. Peter has one great restaurant that is worth going to a few times, and the drive to skiing in Ortisei is only about 15 minutes.

A few things that could be improved:

- Wifi usually worked well, but some problems with it

- For such a modernized house, it's surprising to not have laundry facilities

- If it were my home there would be an outdoor hot tub somewhere looking out over the valley.

Will definitely return again one day soon to this beautiful house to enjoy the food, skiing, and people of Val Gardena.

A beautiful summer or winter ski lodge for all the year round HomeAway Holiday Renters.

Fresh Alpine Air and the Spectacle of the Dolomites Lajen/Laion, a sunny high-altitude terrace situated at 1,100 meters above sea-level, between vineyards and Alpine meadows, is an idyllic vacation spot with magnificent vistas. The panorama of the Dolomites, the Langkofel / Sasso Lungo, the Sella Group, and the Schlern/Sciliar will take your breath away. The number of hiking trails and look-out spots is countless. And Lajen/Laion also has an artistic aspect insofar as it is believed that the famous Middle High German ballad-singer Walther von der Vogelweide was born in the hamlet of Ried/Novale, on the Vogelweid farmstead.

Other Activities: Dolomites vast ski area, and recreational out door activities

Golf: The Challenges of the Dolomites Lajen/Laion and its subdivisions of St. Peter, Tschöfas/Ceves, Tanirz/Tanurza, Freins/Fraina, Ried/Novale, und Albions offer you complete relaxation and numerous excellent hiking trails. From here, you can quickly reach the Gröden Valley / Val Gardena and the Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi with their dolomite massives. Comfortable mid-altitude trails are also to be found in abundance, as well as 'Törggele' rustic inns and cable-supported climbing trails. Bicyclists and mountain bikers are likewise guaranteed vast opportunities to explore the landscape.

History & Culture around a Wonderful Panoramic Terrace

The 'mountain cathedral,' as the parish church of Lajen/Laion is often called, tells a story of a special vacation region. Archeological evidence uncovered on the Innerraschötz / Resciesa Alpine Meadow indicates that Lajen/Laion was settled during the Stone Age, in approx. 6000 B.C. The first traces of human habitation at the Wasserbühl date back to the Bronze Age. After that, evidence of historical inhabitants can be found. The most-famous of these is without a doubt Walter von der Vogelweide; you are free to hike to and view the Vogelweid farmstead! You now have almost unlimited access to the attractions of this region: With the Gardena Card, you have complete freedom to explore this exciting vacation resort area.

Ski: the nearest ski lift is around a 9 kilometer car ride to the village of Ortisei. This lift connects to the famous Sella Ronda which has 140 kilometers of connected ski runs.Alp de suisse also another beautiful resort connected to this village. The famous mens downhill runs from the next village Santa Christina, and further up the mountain you arrive in Selva the heart of Val Gardena. These ski resorts are all connected and will take you as far as San Cassiano.
