Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 bathroom spacious secluded barn conversion with beautiful views

Newly renovated barn in the heart of Burgundy. On a hilltop, Gite Hauteloup offers stunning 360° views of the Burgundy countryside. If you are looking for peace and tranquility away from everyday life, look no further. Set in 2.5 acres of beautiful countryside we offer dog friendly holidays including a dog crèche facility if you wish to go out for the day and not take your dog with you! We are on the outskirts of the Morvan National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are just 10 minutes from Bourbon Lancy a thermal spa town, with all amenities. Luzy, is just 15 minutes away and Autun, a historic roman town with 12th century Cathedrale Saint-Lazare which is a national monument of France is just 45 minutes away.

Gite Hauteloup was originally an 19th century cattle barn and has been completely renovated to offer spacious accommodation over 2 floors. There is a large entrance hall with an area for dog beds and a utility area with washing machine. There is also a downstairs toilette with marble topped wash stand and vasque basin. The brand new adjoining kitchen/diner has a double oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and a large island breakfast bar which seats four. There is a large dining table to seat six and a small wide screen television with freeview box. The new plafond Francaise, traditional French beamed ceiling gives character to the property. The downstairs area has a tiled floor with underfloor heating for those wishing to stay out of the warm summer months. There is a spacious lounge with two large sofas and also additional seating by the large patio doors for those wishing to sit and admire the view. There is a large wide screen television with satellite offering British television channels and a Bluray DVD player with surround sound. We also have WIFI, a must for those wishing to stay connected to the outside world!! From the front of the lounge is a spacious terrace with a garden sofa, chairs, table & parasol. The south facing walled terrace receives sun from first thing in the morning until early evening. The terrace to the rear of the lounge accessed by patio doors is in shade in the morning but is sunny from late morning until sunset. A beautiful place to spend the evening. There is a table which seats six and a brick built barbecue for alfresco dining. The rear garden is fenced and secure for children and dogs. There is a pretty flower border and patio tubs. The private garden is large with a few shrubs and plenty of space for children to play and dogs to run around. The upstairs of the property which is reached by a large wooden open tread staircase has wooden floors and traditional Victorian radiators. At the top of the staircase is a beautiful cast iron wolf or Loup in French which is where the property takes it’s name from. This was designed for us by a metal worker in our village, along with the gates!! The main bedroom with it’s open balcony is decorated in French shabby chic style with traditional bedside cabinets a cast iron bedstead and a wardrobe. The ceilings are high into the roof making the rooms spacious and airy. The ensuite claw footed baignoire offers a touch of luxury. The second bedroom reached off a small hallway has a double bed, bedside cabinets and an old French armoire or wardrobe. There is a spacious ensuite shower room with a large shower with anti-slip shower tray, sink and toilet. The third bedroom also off the hallway is a twin room with two single beds, a bedside cabinet and armoire. This also has an ensuite shower room with large shower and anti-slip shower tray, sink and toilet. There is a spacious carpark to the side of the house with enough parking for three cars. To the front of the property is a 3.5 metre plunge pool for children to play in or to cool off after a long days sight seeing. There are also two bicycles available for the use of guests if they do not wish to bring their own. We have a large selection of books for both adults and children, DVD’s board games, a badminton set, outdoor Jenga and Boules or Petanque. There is a riding stable in the next village for Equestrians. There are 6 golf courses within 40 kilometres of the property. There are plenty of places nearby for dog walking and just to the south of Bourbon Lancy on the Loire river is a sandy beach which is perfect for dogs! In the summer months the water is quite shallow and great for dogs to swim in! This is also a good place for fishing or canoeing!

Beautiful, stylish Gite. Great holiday for all our family.

  • 5 of 5

We really couldn't fault anything about the holiday. From the communication from the owners prior arrival to sadly leaving for home we had an amazing experience. We eventually got there quite late to find a fantastic welcome pack of essentials and the odd luxury (local fiz and goats cheese from the goats on site). The gite is very well equipped with not only English television but also broadband if you need to communicate. Alternatively there is a supply of good books, DVD's and views to die for if you just want to forget about home for a while.

Karen and Tim the owners had good local knowledge and were always happy to help if required. Our children loved the animals around and about the Gite and the farm next door and and the pool. He loved the peace and quite (when the kids finally went to bed) and of course the wine, food and the Frenchness (not sure this is a word) of the whole area.

In short our best week in France so far.

Gorgeous property and beautiful location...

  • 5 of 5

We received a warm welcome from the owners when we arrived at the gite. It is a lovely stone building, which has been beautifully renovated and fully equipped. The views are stunning. The perfect choice if you are looking for a holiday of complete relaxation in the stunning Burgundy countryside. Wholly recommended!

Lovely peaceful location - the perfect place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at Gite Hauteloup and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The house has great character, it is a nice relaxing getaway, while being close enough to drive to places in the Morvan National Park and Loire area.

Inside the renovated farmhouse, there is a lot of living space, large enough to stay with family or friends. We were four adults and two dogs and had plenty of room. We felt at home right from the start. Even dog beds and water bowls are provided!

The house is located at the top of a hill with great view and there are no other people around except an incredibly nice farmer couple nearby, who can supply you with fresh eggs and garden-fresh vegetables, just ask them! We loved cooking in the beautiful and well-equipped kitchen, eating in the garden and sitting there in the evenings, it was so peaceful..

Above all else, the hospitality and welcome that we received from the owners, Karen and Tim, was without parallel. They were very attentive, helpful and could not have been nicer to us. On arrival at Gite Hauteloup, we found an awesome welcome present in the kitchen, consisting of Burgundy Cremant, home made goat cheese and baguette and much more. Fantastic! Thank you so much!!

The house is about a 15 minutes drive away from Luzy and Bourbon Lancy, where you can find supermarkets, bakeries & other shops. so as there is no bakery in walking distance, always think about buying a second baguette for your breakfast the next morning!

Gite Hauteloup is surrounded by a remarkably beautiful landscape, you will find small villages, friendly people, great hiking trails, lots of nature and hardly any traffic.

You can feel very relaxed here, so we can definitely recommend the house to everybody who is looking for a nice and quiet home in a beautiful environment. It is a very great place to spend time in Burgundy!

EXCELLENT SEJOUR

  • 5 of 5
