Meon House is a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian house set in the village of Droxford, surrounded by glorious open countryside. The village has 2 good pubs, one awarded Hampshire's 'Best Sunday lunch', the other serving a mean curry. There are endless walks to chose from, from the door. We have a village playground and a village shop. There is a tennis court in the next door village which we have a key to. There are many bike trails from the door, including the famous (flat!) Meon Valley Trail, a disused railway line, perfect for a family bike ride. There are many other pubs within a short walk/bike/drive, which we can advise you on.
We have lovingly restored our house to create a fabulous comfortable family home. There are 5 bedrooms, and attractive flower-filled garden with climbing frame, outside dining, BBQ, and a great view through the village. We have a circular stair case in our entrance hall with a curved staircase leading up to the first floor. There are wooden floors and sash wooden framed windows, most of which have original shutters.
Downstairs we have a drawing room, with has double aspect windows, high ceilings and a fireplace with wood burning stove; a massive playroom (Wii, large selection of toys); and a large eat in kitchen/breakfast room. The kitchen has granite worktops, a 4 oven Aga (normally turned off in the summer as its too hot!), an alternative convection oven and 4 pan induction hob, in the island. Off the kitchen lies a boot room, with a side door out to the garden, and a door leads through into a utility room with an extra fridge and freezer.. In addition there is a laundry room and a downstairs cloakroom.
On the first floor there are five bedrooms. The master bedroom (king sized bed) has double aspect sash windows with picturesque rural views. There are two further double beds: one kingsize and one double. There is one room with twin beds, and one with a single bed. All rooms have a lot of space and there is room in each for additional mattresses on the floor. We have some spare mattresses, an inflatable bed, and a travel cot available, if you would like to borrow them for extra guests.
We have a family bathroom (bath with shower head) and a newly fitted shower room, both with toilets and sinks. None of the bathrooms are ensuite.
There is a parking area accessed off Mill Lane, with external parking for 2 cars. Additional parking is also available in the village.
Our house is a family home and as such has most things you would expect. You are welcome to play with our toys and play with our sandpit. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, 2 fridges, a chest freezer, a Quooker hot tap, microwave, kitchenaid, breadmaker, etc.
We can provide a travel cot and high chair, and we have plastic tablecloths, bowls and cutlery for babies. We have 3 young kids so we are pretty well set up for families.

Fantastic house in the country
We stayed in Nick and Sally's house over Easter and it is even better than the photos would lead you to expect. It is the perfect size for a family or friends get together, and very child friendly, with a playroom, high chair and travel cot provided. The kitchen is well kitted out and has ample oven space, and the garden is self contained. Nick and Sally are great hosts and left a lot of information, they were very quick to communicate when we had questions. Droxford is a really nice village with two local pubs and a church. We went for some nice walks along the Meon river and the disused railway. All in all a great trip - would highly recommend.
Beautiful House, great hosts
Meon House is a stunning 200 year property that was a prefect size for our group of 6 adults and 3 kids. There are 3 large double bedrooms, 1 twin and 1 single bedroom. The Kitchen facilities are great the aga cooked an amazing roast Lamb, the playroom was a godsend for the kids allowing the adults a bit of quite time in front of the log burner. Droxford is a lovely little village and the pub just up the road from the house is a nice place to eat, all in all a great place to spend a New Years break with friends.
Nick and Sally were great hosts
A beautiful house in a beautiful village
Meon House is every bit as impressive as the photos make it look. It is a large, fantastically furnished and well equipped house in the middle of the picturesque village of Droxford. The house is listed and it really feels as though you’re staying in a significant building. That said, it still has a very homely feel to it. The owners, Nick and Sally, were so helpful before we arrived and had left us with all the information that we needed. The house has everything that you would expect and more. The five bedrooms are roomy and very well furnished. There are three very well designed and clean bathrooms. The kitchen area is massive, with a conventional oven and an Aga as well as two big fridges. There is a sitting room as well as a ‘games room’. For us with our 16 month old daughter, this games room was a fantastic feature as it meant that our extended family didn’t all have to be on top of each other for the whole stay. Nick and Sally were also very kind and let our daughter play with their children’s toys, which was a real help! There is a nice little garden with a slide and two off road parking spots (although there is plenty of parking in the village). The local area has loads to do - walking, beautiful towns to visit - you certainly could not get bored. There are two exceptional pubs in the village with good beers and excellent food. All in all, this is such a great property and location - I genuinely cannot find any fault with it.
Georgian home with a contemporary twist
A large family home with room for 3 generations of family. Nick and Sally really did make our holiday a home from home experience. If you like older properties with all their quirks then Meon House is for you. Original shutters on the sash windows, aga in the kitchen and wood burner in the lounge. The house was very warm!
Garden was enclosed so great for our dog and 2 mins walk down the lane took you into the countryside and towards the Meon trail.
Bakers Arm pub a few doors up did great food but at a price. The other end of the High St we picked up an Indian take away from The White Horse pub.
Plenty of family activities within a 30 min drive.
Would definitely recommend.
