About Theresa Skramstad

We want to share our lake home with you to help create those valuable memories you'll cherish forever. Friendly neighbors all along the shore will smile and wave as they hear you having fun on this beautiful lake and sandy shore. Our family of 4 adult children, one teen, and 2 elementary boys and grandchildren never tire of the adventures. We regularly take hikes and bring one two-way radio and leave the other radio at home and use our "code names" to talk back and forth. Several excellent restaurants on the lake or a close drive allow a break from the kitchen if you wish! The children grow so quickly ~ make a lifetime of memories now!

Why Theresa Skramstad chose Birchwood

This property first caught my eye as a place where our large family and extended relatives could enjoy holidays or special events. Now, I just desire to someday retire here. The sunsets are breathtaking, the fishing is phenomenal, the lake is fun to play on, and there is never a lack of wildlife or friendly neighbors. There are also many churches in the area and the local people in the stores are super friendly whenever you need help. You must visit the bait store across the lake ~ Ruthie may even have a fresh baked cookie for you. There are no strangers, only friends you haven't yet met.

What makes this cabin unique

In progress is a reading/sun room sunken below the dining area. With lots of sun, you can bask while reading a book or hide and take a little nap. The fire pit outside is large and landscaped. Your first load of firewood is our gift to you. Share stories, make S'mores, make memories.

Loved this property, very spacious and comfortable home. We had a wonderful time.

  • 5 of 5

Amazing spacious comfortable home. Everything was great, and we had a great time. My only suggestion is to keep the barbecue grill clean, and some of the back area and tables clean for convenience and comfort. Overall, I recommend this house for family fun and relaxation.

Such an amazing house. We had 15 people and there was plenty of room. Great areas to hang out. Extremely comfortable beds. We were atving and were able to take right off from the house and go in any direction on beautiful trails. We will definitely rent again. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We had 14 adults stay at this house for a long weekend. We went 4 wheeling and also spent time on the lake. Great place to stay. All the pictures are very true to what the house looks like. The owner is wonderful to work with.

Well maintained with lots of stuff to do, really relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a large party with diverse interests and we all enjoyed our time at the cabin. Thing that have impressed me most was that cabin has not felt like rental cabin, but more like home. I bet it's because owners use it for personal vacation. Everything in the cabin works and was thought thru. There were enough plates, cups and utensils for even larger group than ours. The gas grill had enough gas with couple spare tanks, which has given peace of mind.

Fishing was supreme on the lake and even my dad, life long fishing enthusiast, was satisfied, which is usually hard to accomplish. You definitely need a boat as fishing directly from pier is difficult due to weeds. I personally more enjoyed downstairs pool area and just relaxing outside, also tried provided kayaks.

As pointed out in other reviews a thing to consider for a large group is a single room with 8 sleeping spots. Lucky for us we had mostly relatives and number of kids and everyone were happy to stay together for a few days.

Great cabin everybody enjoyed it very much!

Lots of space to gather and have conversations. We also loved the games options! Helped in keeping everyone engaged in fun even though our main event and reason for being here was cancelled! We would love to stay here again - very homey and comfortable!

The perfect large group getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 20 women were delighted when we walked into this expansive, well appointed and comfortable vacation home! Everything we needed was at our fingertips and enjoyed by all. The beds, bedding and towels were sparkling clean and plentiful. The kitchen well equipped and huge. We used all the spaces including the beautiful living room, large dining room table and the lower level game, movie and bar lounge area.

We experienced rain on the day we were there for a whole day so did not get to swim, but two of our party used the kayaks for a misty calm paddle on the lake. All ladies used and thought the charging station was a fantastic idea. All phones plugged in and charged!

Our only complaint by the clean freaks in the group is that the stairs going to the lower level had minor dust and dirt in the corners, the refrig. needed to be wiped down and there were just a few cans and bottles not cleaned up from previous guests. This is only mentioned as a helpful note to the Owner that maybe the cleaners could be a bit pickier. Also, it might be helpful in the future to replace the screens. We were very warm in the upper level and opening the windows to let in a cool breeze could not happen unless we wanted the mosquitoes and gnats joining us.

Thank you for renting out this beautiful home! We hope to be back someday!
