About Theresa Skramstad
We want to share our lake home with you to help create those valuable memories you'll cherish forever. Friendly neighbors all along the shore will smile and wave as they hear you having fun on this beautiful lake and sandy shore. Our family of 4 adult children, one teen, and 2 elementary boys and grandchildren never tire of the adventures. We regularly take hikes and bring one two-way radio and leave the other radio at home and use our "code names" to talk back and forth. Several excellent restaurants on the lake or a close drive allow a break from the kitchen if you wish! The children grow so quickly ~ make a lifetime of memories now!
Theresa Skramstad purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Theresa Skramstad chose Birchwood
This property first caught my eye as a place where our large family and extended relatives could enjoy holidays or special events. Now, I just desire to someday retire here. The sunsets are breathtaking, the fishing is phenomenal, the lake is fun to play on, and there is never a lack of wildlife or friendly neighbors. There are also many churches in the area and the local people in the stores are super friendly whenever you need help. You must visit the bait store across the lake ~ Ruthie may even have a fresh baked cookie for you. There are no strangers, only friends you haven't yet met.
What makes this Cabin unique
In progress is a reading/sun room sunken below the dining area. With lots of sun, you can bask while reading a book or hide and take a little nap. The fire pit outside is large and landscaped. Your first load of firewood is our gift to you. Share stories, make S'mores, make memories.

Beautifully kept cabin with a lot of beds and ways to entertain a crowd!
This is a wonderful cabin with an entertainment room, pool table, food all, arcade game, bonfire pit, dock and multiple boats to enjoy.
We were sad to find a late summer algae bloom along the shore, so we had to take our crew to a public beach in town. We had a great time on Doolittle beach.
I’m happy you were able to beat the algae bloom and enjoyed all the amenities. Hoping you return soon
Large property, perfect for a family or group of all ages!
The age range of our family was 2-60. The house was spacious and there were MANY activities and games for everyone to do (we had a rainy day, so that came in handy). The dock at the lake was nice and roomy and the public access for our boat was nice and close. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boat that came with the property. Although the lake was in an algae bloom, so pretty green (the owners did let us know of this ahead of time!). The outside property was overgrown and weedy and could use some maintenance, but the large deck space was nice. Overall, this property is one that we enjoyed and would love to return to in the future!!
Very attractive property with good space for our three generational family
Lovely setting and views. Loved the two-tired decking but couldn’t use it much, too many gnats made sitting outdoors difficult. House itself seemed a bit tired/worn, but had good space for everyone. I think we left it cleaner than when we arrived. Grandkids would’ve liked a bit of a beach, dock was very nice but murkiness of lake seemed to inhibit swimming and fishing(?). Lake overall however, was wonderful.
I’m surprised at the review. I did advise ahead of your arrival that the lake had gone into an early bloom and was clear that it was not a sandy shore front. I do not believe I misrepresented the property. I do enlist pest and mosquito control, but gnats are part of Mother Nature for which I have no control. As for the home being tired....? I purchased 3 years ago, have replaced furnishings, all new towels and linens, updated many items cosmetically inside and out. All other reviews of the home have been stellar. Perhaps the north woods retreat experience was not what you anticipated? I appreciate the 4-star review, but the comments are a bit harsh and I believe undeserving.
Wonderful for all
We had a great stay! There was plenty to keep everyone occupied. All 6 kids (age 5-17) loved staying in one room together. It was nice to all sit together to eat. Getting into the house and closing the house went smoothly.
Peaceful and perfect
Beautiful peaceful home in an excellent location. Home away from home with all the amenities, welcoming and perfect in every way. Could not be more pleased. We had 9 adults and 6 children, 5 under the age of 3 and it worked out perfectly. Set up perfectly for those who want to be up late and for those who want to go to bed early. Wildlife paradise. Dock was great, rented a local pontoon and fished and took lots
of photos. Highly recommend. Lots of room for all and so peaceful.
So happy your group enjoyed your stay. Please come back again soon. You were wonderful guests!
Great size for large groups, beds and couches everywhere for sleeping.
Had a long weekend with a large group of friends. Although the April weather hadn't allowed use of the lake, the pool table and deck saw a lot of use. Great spot for grilling and having a nice fire outside. Would return :)
Nearby are 4-wheeler/snowmobile trails, Birkenbiner, Lumberjack Shows, Cranberry Fest, Rodeo, Excellent Fishing and Boating.
