Breathtaking views. Rugged and difficult location
The views from this apartment are stunning and exactly as pictured. The accommodations are clean and nice, but simple.
We drove to the apartment which was on very narrow, winding roads with many scary blind, hairpin turns with sharp drops from high elevations. Once in the parking area of the apartments, we did not want to drive again until it was time to leave, as the driving was too difficult. Pack lightly, as getting bags from the parking area(and back again) is hard!Teresita Apartments are along the main hiking trail between Vernazza and Corniglia. It was a 30minute hike to get to either town, mostly downhill. Thus, returning from the towns is uphill. We hiked into the towns each day and made advance reservations with the recommended taxi driver, to pick us up and return us to the apartment at the end of our stay. Otherwise, there would be no way of returning as hiking after dark would be impossible.
I would highly recommend stopping at a grocery store before checking in, so that you can eat some meals at home. The bar downstairs serves drinks and snacks for hikers, but is only open from about 9am-5:30 pm.
The apartments are not air conditioned. It was about 85 degrees during the day, with little cooling at night. Be sure to ask for fans for the bedrooms, as they were essential to sleeping.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but one should know it is an isolated location and you need to be in good physical condition to access it.
We cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is. Our family of 7 occupied the entire apartment which consists of three floors. Floor one has a kitchen (with pull-out single), bathroom and bedroom. Floor two has 2 bedrooms (one with a terrace with a stunning overlook) + a bathroom; floor three has a kitchen, bathroom and pull-out double & a roof-top terrace with a stunning overlook. The place is situated halfway between Corniglia and Vernazza, right on the trail. To be accommodated at this location is out of this world. And the accomodations were well-appointed. We did not find the kitchens to be lacking; rather, well stocked with coffee, cooking extras like olive oil. It was just heavenly here. We would come back in a heartbeat. We came by car which was a fun challenge, as the roads are narrow and twisty, and the final driveway down was especially tight, but manageable. This is a delightful part of the country - so much history, agriculture and outdoor adventure. We hiked a ton, and earned every gelato we savoured in the towns. The paths to Riomaggiore and Manarolla remain closed but we were able to drive to these - they can also be accessed by boat and train. The walk from Vernazza to Monerosso al mare was particularly challenging, especially in the heat, but rewarding for sure. Each town is unique. It was a rare privilege to be accommodated right on the path. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
The best view in Cinque Terre!
The pictures just don't begin to describe the views from this house, which sits on a cliff directly on the Blue Path equidistant between Vernazza and Corniglia. My friend literally cried when she saw the view, then proceeded to hug me for booking the place. I was worried about finding the hiking path, but it literally goes past the door of the house. You will see a steady stream of hikers go past the gate, wishing they were you as you relax on the patio with a drink. Be aware that driving large vehicles (we had a 8 passenger van) can be a challenge due to the steep cliff-side switchbacks, so be a good driver! Once at the house, you wont want to move your car, so the only way to reach a town is to hike the very rugged trails. We did the all-downhill hike to Vernazza, which took us about 50 minutes, and went swimming at the beach there. The Ligurian sea was warm in mid-july and the town is so lovely. I wish we had time for dinner as the seafood is so fresh, but we wanted to enjoy the house for our one night stay, so we caught a taxi back ($25 euro) with the taxi driver recommended by our host. Call the taxi far ahead and arrange a time to meet to ensure he wont be busy. The home has three floors and all but the bottom bedroom has a balcony overlooking the ocean. The top balcony has room for six to sit comfortably. There is also a shared space (there are other apartments within the building) which is a grape vine covered patio also overlooking the ocean. There was rarely anyone out there, so we used the space often. The host lives on property and was always around for questions using Google translate on his phone. There is a friendly cat that may enter the house if the doors are left open. We visited in July. The house has no AC and there are mosquitos, so arrange for the host to have a fan in every bedroom that you can place in front of the window or door for ocean breezes. This also keeps the mosquitos away. The stairs in the home are very steep which may be scary if you have kids or mobility issues. Next door is a wonderful tiny café that has pastries and coffee in the AM and pizza/paninis in the afternoon. They also have a limited bar. Take your lunch back to the house and enjoy the magnificent view!
The views from this house are amazing.
The house provided plenty of space for our group of 6. There are two relatively small kitchens that provide the essentials. There is no air conditioning (which we knew in advance) which wasn't a problem as we opened up the windows at night to stay cool.
The house is located on the walking trail between Vernazza and Corniglia. Taxi service is not widely available in either of those towns, so be prepared to hike. (The owners provided a phone number for a taxi, but we never used it.) Grocery stores in Cinque Terre are limited and small, so plan to have meals mostly in the cities. There is a small bar adjacent to the house, but it closes around 6:30pm.
The house was very clean throughout and the service by the owners was wonderful. Enjoy your stay!
This was a beautiful place to stay with great views and a welcoming atmosphere. The views are terrific and it's right on the blue trail where you can hike to Vernazza one day and Corniglia the next. And the park passes were included with our stay, so that was an extra bonus. The house was equipped with everything we needed to cook a nice dinner and enjoy some wine and appetizers on the deck. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
A great time in cinque terre.
We stopped in cinque terre for a day during our trip through Italy. We arrived to the house by car, and even if it does not have an exact address, it was easy to find. I would recommend spending more than one day in cinque terre, we did not have enough time to visit all villages during our stay. The ones we did visit were amazing! The owner was very kind and helpful. I would recommend everyone to visit this beautiful place.
