A warm welcome to a beautiful city
Our host was so helpful, meeting us at vaporetto stop and guiding us to the apartment. This was vital in a city wher it’s difficult to get your bearings. We loved Dorsoduro which is great place to stay. Accommodation was exactly what we wanted, authentic Italian. Would recommend.
Lovely quiet apartment with terrace in a friendly Venice neighborhood
I spent 3 weeks in Paolo's 1 bedroom apartment and it was perfect for my needs. Up a short flight of stairs are three large rooms -- bedroom, kitchen and living room with large windows -- plus large bathroom with bathtub. The bed was terrific -- a concern for me for such a long stay. I cooked several times in the kitchen which was outfitted with stovetop, fridge, large toaster oven. Kitchen opens onto large terrace. Paolo is a lovely man and was very helpful with everything I needed to settle in. It's his neighborhood and he is happy to point out the best restaurants, where to shop, where to eat cicchetti, do your laundry etc. I followed all of his recommendations and was not disappointed. The apartment is near Accademia on the Grand Canal, and a few minutes off Campo San Barnaba in the Dorsoduro, a lively area with loads of restaurants (try Ristoteca Oniga in the square) bars and cafes, and a nearby barge selling fresh vegetables. (Also try Al Vecio Marangon, nearer Accademia.) The apartment is a few minutes from Campo Santa Margarita where there are more restaurants etc, a pharmacy, bakery and small grocery store, and the Zattere Canal where one can sit outdoor and eat pizza (among other things) while feeling practically at the beach. By the end of the first week, I was recognized by people in the neighborhood who waved hello. This is a wonderful place to experience the community aspect of a Venetian neighborhood which is far quieter than the traditional tourist destinations.
A haven in a secluded yet central part of Venice.
After a very friendly welcome we enjoyed this apartment immensely with its ample terrace and spacious bedroom. With interesting pictures on the wall and personalized furnishings it was an ideal place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of Venice.
Beautiful Apartment with a GREAT host!
My husband and I rented Paolo's apartment for 5 days. It was wonderful. The apartment itself had everything we needed and was decorated so beautifully. Large bathroom with a lot of counter space, kitchen fully equip for cooking, and the patio on the back was so quiet and a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Venice. The location was great, about a 15 minute walk to St. Marks Square and only 5 minutes from the closest vaporetto stop. It was in a quiet neighborhood, but was close to many restaurants and people watching areas.
The best part about this apartment was the host, Paolo. He was so welcoming and truly cared that we enjoyed our stay. He met us at the vaporetto stop, showed us the neighborhood and gave us suggestions on where to eat and where the grocery store was. Showed is all around the apartment and even checked in on us mid week (using VRBO messaging) to ensure we were doing ok and enjoying our time. I felt like he would have done anything for us, if we had asked. GREAT experience and BEAUTIFUL apartment.
The apartment is in a wonderful location from which to explore all Venice has to offer. Yet at the end of the day you can retreat to a quiet, comfortable spot with many quaint cafes and restaurants close by which are removed from the crowds in other areas of Venice. Paola met us at the water shuttle stop and made sure we were settled in with numerous dining recommendations. Overall a great experience.
