Beautiful Victorian school conversion, set in the heart of the North Pennines.
About Geoff Kiln
I am a 56 year old father of two grown up daughters. I live in Hertfordshire, but have fallen in love with the beautiful county of Northumberland. I bought the Old Boys School back in 2004 and since then have gradually upgraded and improved the house. Over the last couple of years I have renewed the roof and replaced all windows and doors.
Geoff Kiln purchased this House in 2004
Why Geoff Kiln chose Northumberland
The Old Boys School has been sympathetically restored and upgraded to provide generous accommodation for up to 6 people. Carrshield is located in an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' which is incredibly peaceful and unspoilt.
What makes this House unique
The unique benefit of the Old Boys School and Carrshield is the location. The Lake District, Northumberland heritage coast, Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish borders are all within easy reach.

Little gem of a property
We stayed 3 nights for our anniversary and couldn't fault either the location or the property. Geoff has obviously put a lot of time and effort into the Boys School and it shows - highly recommended.
Stunning unique house with beautiful surroundings
My husband , sons and I stayed for a week at the end of October to celebrate my 50th birthday and thoroughly loved it . It has everything you need very well equipped very clean and modern was a great week with some lovely memories to treasure
The Old Boys School is a spacious, well appointed and extremely well equipped cottage. The three bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds, the kitchen a pleasure to use and the living area great for relaxing. The wood stove was a lovely touch and the “office” came in very handy. Wifi was excellent and Netflix an unexpected bonus! Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay
Fantastic accommodation and location, has everything you need
Great place to stay, really well equipped and lovely accommodation, couldn't fault it. Would definately stay again.
Fantastic, quiet and well equipped.
The house has everything you need for a quiet break with your family or alternatively if you want to spend time with friends. The main lounge has a double height ceiling and wood burner which is very atmospheric. We had a great time and the owner is really easy to deal with.
