Guestbook comments from the owner

My family just recently stayed up in your cabin in Pioneer this past weekend and left on Wednesday. First of all, we wanted to say thank you! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful home with us. Your house was amazing. The space was unbelievable. All of the bedrooms gave everyone privacy and space. When adults were up in the evening the kids couldn't hear our laughs and voices due to the doors and privacy of each bedroom. Your home is absolutely perfect for large families with kids. We used your kitchen for almost all our meals and loved the wonderfully stocked cabinet of spices, which we added too! :-) You had so many pots and pans to choose from as well as dinner plates and silverware. If we come back to Northern California we will definitely contact you about staying in our home again.

A few more things to share, we loved sitting out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful deep forest cover while sipping wine in the evenings. It was almost like living inside of a tree house. The amount of board games, not to mention the game room gave our kids plenty to keep themselves busy during our trip. The kids did try to go swimming in the pond, but it was so cold they only lasted a few minutes. It was humorous trying to watch them go waist deep in that cold, spring fed mountain water. Again, thank you so much for allowing us into your home. It was amazing.

Very nice property with lots of amenities!

  • 5 of 5

My stay at this property was fantastic. There were lots of things to do at the property as well as the surrounding area. It was a 20 minute drive to Jackson Rancheria casino resort and downtown Jackson.

There was high-speed Internet, cable TV, game room, three levels each with their own restroom and living room. There was also a pond and hiking in the backyard. This was very private and secluded.

We found lots of things to do in the area like go to the snow and the black chasm. There were plenty of good restaurants along the way. Will definitely stay here again.

Perfect space for our family, beautiful property and cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Thomas' cabin. I was there with my immediate family - parents, sisters, their husbands and mine. It was absolutely perfect to have the three levels each with different rooms. We all basically had our own space and it was great! Living room was cozy and the huge sectional (not pictured) was unbelievably comfy! We had deer come about 5 feet from us and the scenery was beautiful, especially with the changing of colors during the fall. The game room was an added plus, a separate building off of the house and we had so much fun playing in their (a bunch of 30 year olds). We did encounter issues with the oven and probably more of an operational error because Thomas said he checked it afterward and it worked fine. The dishwasher was broken but we didn't mind handwashinf, and Thomas assured me he could have had a plumber over there quickly if I would have called him during our stay, but it was no biggy. The wifi was amazing to have because there's no cell service nearby. All in all it was a great weekend and we'd love to rent from again!

Great layout for large family

  • 4 of 5

Loved the property!

The property was perfect to comfortably accommodate our large family while affording great privacy at the same time. The bedrooms and bathrooms were located in such a way that everyone had their own space. The location was perfect and very easy to get to while still offering seclusion once arrived. Several deer visited every morning which made a perfect way to start the day.

The owner,Thomas, was wonderful in his response time and very easy to contact.

The kitchen could use a good detailed cleaning rather than just the touch up it seems to get between guests.

We were disappointed that the patio furniture shown in the photos was reduced to a few pieces that had seen better days.

That being said, with a little needed attention to detail, this property is a gem and highly recommended.

Lovely vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Thomas's cabin is so comfortable, beautiful, and spacious. We stayed there with 5 adults and 4 teenage boys, and had a great time. The layout is wonderful, allowing everyone to gather easily in one space, or to find their own space, with plenty of privacy. The game room is amazing, with a pool table, foozball, air hockey, darts, and poker. Thomas is an attentive host, returning a phone call within a minute when we had a question. The furnishings are lovely, the beds comfortable, the linens luxurious. And the price is lower than most similar accommodations elsewhere. We had a delightful time at Silver Lake Reservoir (about 30 miles away) one day, and on another day, some of our group hiked from there to two other beautiful lakes, that are only accessible by foot, and they had an amazing time. The grill on the deck is wonderful. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone. Thanks, Thomas!!

Awesome getaway!!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this place. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Deer came onto the property throughout each day and grazed on the shrubs and greenery around the property. Although the pond was smaller than we had anticipated, we weren't too far from the nearby lakes and streams which the guys all loved driving the short distance to get some fishing in. The evenings were nice.

As far as the house itself--it was awesome. The pictures made it seem "larger" I guess, then it is in person. I thought the rooms and porch area with the patio furniture were much longer in the pictures than they actually were in person. I think it is merely the way a camera has to angle it to get everything in. There was only one set of patio furniture on the second level--even though the picture shows more. We could have used the extra seating, but that is ok because we simply pulled some of the chairs from the lower porch to use and then replaced them later.

There were 3 levels with PLENTY of room. Every couple had their own room and a restroom on their floor to use. The house has beautiful with windows all around which we loved. The game room was a nice touch as well. Since we had a short stay, we only got in one night of activities in there, but it was so much fun.

The property was well-maintained, except for the grill. We had to really clean it when we arrived because it was pretty grimy. I suggested to the owner that he might consider putting that in the checklist for visitors to clean before they leave--that way each new visitor can use it right away. But, in the scope of things, that is really minimal.

I do want to say that the owner, Thomas, was very helpful with our stay. If we ever had a question or concern, he got right back to us on the house phone, which made us feel very secure.

I WOULD DEFINITELY recommend this vacation rental to my friends!! In fact, we are already thinking about trying to stay here again in the winter months! It would be so beautiful to see the snow and utilize all of the pellet stoves provided in the house.

Very spacious, beautiful location!

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at this property for 3 nights, and enjoyed our time there. There were 11 of us, (9 adults, 2 kids) and it never felt crowded, there was plenty of space for all of us. There isn't a whole lot to do right in Pioneer, but within 1/2 hour away, you have a good amount of options. The area where the house is located is gorgeous, we went on several walks, just taking in the scenery. One of my favorite things about the house was the large deck outside with a dining table & chairs. We ate several of our meals out there. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a decent meal. One thing we noticed though, the refrigerator doesn't keep things very cold. We turned it as cold as it would go, and it still wasn't great. So that's something that should be fixed. Another minor issue, I felt the list of things you're required to do before leaving, as far as cleaning up, was pretty extensive. Usually, when I've been charged a cleaning fee, I don't expect to have to do things like sweeping floors, for example. It was explained that the cleaning fee only covers certain things, but I would say just raise the amount you charge for cleaning, and eliminate some of the items on the lengthy list. Other than these 2 things, it was a really great stay, and I would recommend it to others looking for a place to stay in this area.
