Large enough for multiple families.
My family just recently stayed up in your cabin in Pioneer this past weekend and left on Wednesday. First of all, we wanted to say thank you! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful home with us. Your house was amazing. The space was unbelievable. All of the bedrooms gave everyone privacy and space. When adults were up in the evening the kids couldn't hear our laughs and voices due to the doors and privacy of each bedroom. Your home is absolutely perfect for large families with kids. We used your kitchen for almost all our meals and loved the wonderfully stocked cabinet of spices, which we added too! :-) You had so many pots and pans to choose from as well as dinner plates and silverware. If we come back to Northern California we will definitely contact you about staying in our home again.
A few more things to share, we loved sitting out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful deep forest cover while sipping wine in the evenings. It was almost like living inside of a tree house. The amount of board games, not to mention the game room gave our kids plenty to keep themselves busy during our trip. The kids did try to go swimming in the pond, but it was so cold they only lasted a few minutes. It was humorous trying to watch them go waist deep in that cold, spring fed mountain water. Again, thank you so much for allowing us into your home. It was amazing.

My stay at this property was fantastic. There were lots of things to do at the property as well as the surrounding area. It was a 20 minute drive to Jackson Rancheria casino resort and downtown Jackson.
There was high-speed Internet, cable TV, game room, three levels each with their own restroom and living room. There was also a pond and hiking in the backyard. This was very private and secluded.
We found lots of things to do in the area like go to the snow and the black chasm. There were plenty of good restaurants along the way. Will definitely stay here again.
We loved this place. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Deer came onto the property throughout each day and grazed on the shrubs and greenery around the property. Although the pond was smaller than we had anticipated, we weren't too far from the nearby lakes and streams which the guys all loved driving the short distance to get some fishing in. The evenings were nice.
As far as the house itself--it was awesome. The pictures made it seem "larger" I guess, then it is in person. I thought the rooms and porch area with the patio furniture were much longer in the pictures than they actually were in person. I think it is merely the way a camera has to angle it to get everything in. There was only one set of patio furniture on the second level--even though the picture shows more. We could have used the extra seating, but that is ok because we simply pulled some of the chairs from the lower porch to use and then replaced them later.
There were 3 levels with PLENTY of room. Every couple had their own room and a restroom on their floor to use. The house has beautiful with windows all around which we loved. The game room was a nice touch as well. Since we had a short stay, we only got in one night of activities in there, but it was so much fun.
The property was well-maintained, except for the grill. We had to really clean it when we arrived because it was pretty grimy. I suggested to the owner that he might consider putting that in the checklist for visitors to clean before they leave--that way each new visitor can use it right away. But, in the scope of things, that is really minimal.
I do want to say that the owner, Thomas, was very helpful with our stay. If we ever had a question or concern, he got right back to us on the house phone, which made us feel very secure.
I WOULD DEFINITELY recommend this vacation rental to my friends!! In fact, we are already thinking about trying to stay here again in the winter months! It would be so beautiful to see the snow and utilize all of the pellet stoves provided in the house.
We recently stayed at this property for 3 nights, and enjoyed our time there. There were 11 of us, (9 adults, 2 kids) and it never felt crowded, there was plenty of space for all of us. There isn't a whole lot to do right in Pioneer, but within 1/2 hour away, you have a good amount of options. The area where the house is located is gorgeous, we went on several walks, just taking in the scenery. One of my favorite things about the house was the large deck outside with a dining table & chairs. We ate several of our meals out there. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a decent meal. One thing we noticed though, the refrigerator doesn't keep things very cold. We turned it as cold as it would go, and it still wasn't great. So that's something that should be fixed. Another minor issue, I felt the list of things you're required to do before leaving, as far as cleaning up, was pretty extensive. Usually, when I've been charged a cleaning fee, I don't expect to have to do things like sweeping floors, for example. It was explained that the cleaning fee only covers certain things, but I would say just raise the amount you charge for cleaning, and eliminate some of the items on the lengthy list. Other than these 2 things, it was a really great stay, and I would recommend it to others looking for a place to stay in this area.
We so enjoyed our stay in Pioneer. Initially I worried that it would be too remote, but on a hectic July 4th weekend, it was so peaceful at this cabin. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the deck/grill was fabulous. We had ten people in our party, and we all slept comfortably and sat comfortably together in the living room. Our teens enjoyed the game room. I enjoyed sitting on the deck with the stream, wild flowers, and the visiting family of deer. One day we just hung out around the cabin, and one day we swam in the potholes near Silver Lake (an easy hike in). Thanks so much for our best nights in California! Wish we could have stayed here all week!
We were in the area for a wedding and stayed in the house (our family of 5) and my sister-in-laws family of 4. Absolutely loved it. Lots of space to spread out, kitchen had everything needed for cooking, and the view from all sides made me never want to leave. I think my favorite part was coming out onto the deck each morning with my coffee and just looking out over the trees and enjoying some peace before everyone else was up and about. Any time I communicated with the owner (Thomas) he was quick to reply. My best friend and my brother-in-law both live in the general area - we will definitely book again if we need to rent in the future :)
My group of nine men stayed for three nights at this property, and we really enjoyed the experience. We like to play board games and musical instruments, cook gourmet meals, relax, and get away from the stress for a few days. We would definitely come back here to stay again. Here are my impressions of the pros and cons of this property for my group:
- Very spacious, with a large deck and courtyard area. Thomas allowed us to bring an enclosed fire pit, which made mornings and evenings cozy with a nice rustic feel.
- Secluded and out of sight of neighbors. Pretty quiet, but we heard the occasional car driving by or honking geese at the neighbor down the street.
- Plenty of beds, plus extra floor space for sleeping bags and air mattresses. Beds were quite comfortable, although a couple are twin size and not suitable for taller men.
- The game room is a real nice feature, as it's detached from the house, and we used it to play music in without disturbing the neighbors.
- Kitchen is generally well set up, with decent appliances. We didn't use the gas grill, but it looks to be good quality even though it was pretty grimy. We also didn't use the charcoal kettle but might in the future.
- Large dining table fits 9 men for meals...10 would be a real squeeze if we tried it.
- Bathrooms are modern and clean with nice showers.
- There is actually parking space for up to 8 vehicles.
- The landline phone provided was nice to have in case we needed it, since we couldn't get cell service in the area.
- There are stores nearby to purchase supplies if needed.
- Thomas, the owner, is very responsive and helpful.
There are not really any true "cons," but here are some features that you might want to know about.
- Even though the property is large, it is heavily wooded with underbrush and not really suited for trail hiking or biking. If we wanted to do that, there are plenty of places in the area to hike and bike, but you have to drive 15-30 minutes away and we didn't want to spend the time to do that. The pond and creek are accessible for young kids to entertain themselves.
- The owner asks guests to take off their shoes in the house. Not exactly an unreasonable request, but can be inconvenient when going in and out.
- The photos of the property show a "nearby creek," but we didn't see that and don't know where it is or how nearby it is.
The cabin is close to many lakes , rivers, streams, hiking trails and magnificent caves and caverns. It is centered is the middle of Historic Gold Country with many old Gold Rush Towns and mines within minutes from the cabin.
